Thanks Kiki. She said she was going to call the hospital to check on him at 9pm, my time. So, I will check back on Facebook and see if she's left me another message.

Well, I sure hope it's not too serious! We don't heal as well as we used to, so I sure hope he gets better soon.

She didn't give me any details. I know we don't but he is 3years younger than me.

I was wondering how things were going. I think you'll be much happier when the bad drain line is replaced with something better! You'll know for a fact that it'll be OK for a long time.

FWIW, in my place, many of the major, multi-thousands of dollars worth of problems are obvious! And then, there's the many things I haven't looked into yet ... like my main line. So I hope you're reassured enough - it's not just you. Many people are in the same boat!

We've decided to have all of the old iron waste pipes replaced with ABS. I took pictures of some of the old pipes after they were removed from under the house (Nobody here has a basement. It's either slab or crawl space. We at least have a crawl space.) I'd say most of the 3" lines were significantly blocked by corrosion; one was almost corroded shut. The main drain was OK, my guess is that the corrosion reduced the diameter about 20% but there was still a lot of drainage left over.

The more we fix up the house, the more we discover whacky thingsabout it. Like, the pipe that started this odyssey - kitchen drain - is actually unreachable: The plumbers found TWO footings under that end of the house about 2' apart, and the pipe is betweem the two.

Rained last night. We need the rain up here as there are fires burning up the Sunshine coast again. Little town called Pender Harbour is on evac. They've got one right on their doorstep.

There were also listed multiple thunder storms for yesterday across the province. Bad news as some lighting was predicted as well.

I've been keeping track of Canada's drought status through the North American Drought Monitor. I really hope the west coast and your mid-west get some rain soon.

Well shoot. I was hoping after all the rain and cool cloudy weather it wouldn't happen till much later. But the Argentinian ants ... they're baaaaaaaaaaaaaack. So Jack - I got those Amdro granules because you've had such luck with them. I hope they work well for me, too!

Just have to wait and see. His friend that I spoke to said that he is lucid but doesn't remember the accident. Normal for a head trauma. He's had a CT scan and been x-rayed. No broken bones. He was bleeding from one of his ears. He was hit on the left side.

There were lots of witnesses so hopefully the cops will get the guy. His friend has helped people in this situation before and so he is going to help my brother with whatever he needs doing. Figures he will be in hospital for a couple of days at least.

I think things are in about as good a position as they can be.

I'd be grateful if you kept us updated.
