Good luck with those earthquakes. Hope it's nothing.

Sweet! They're probably nicer than what I had anyways. It was a small table for two with high bar-style chairs. I got it at Target. It was actually pretty great considering where I got it from. If you don't have an IKEA close and want some decent furniture, skip Walmart and go to Target. Their quality is quite a bit higher.

I am PISSED right now...
My manager is great. She's the one I strongly advised to take the team lead position offered to her and because of being in the right place at the right time they fast tracked her to management only several months later. She's been killing it, IMO.
Yesterday, well after I left for the day, the new Head Jagoff In Charge had a meeting with all the Team Leads and told her to stick around. All of the Team Leads are getting a $3/hr bump in pay. Great, right? No.
The plan going forward for the company is to eliminate ALL MANAGEMENT except for the Store Managers. They'll pay the Team Leads a few extra bucks per hour to take on all of the responsibilities that the MUCH HIGHER PAID Managers used to have to do.
FUCKERS.
Head Jagoff In Charge told my manager after the meeting, rather unceremoniously and with the soullessness of the robot I already knew he was, that she "had better polish up her resume because the last one in is the first one out".
So please. Let me hear again from somebody how great the freakin' economy is doing right now.
I had to leave earlier than I normally would today and I will be doing the same tomorrow, my last day there. It's best for both of us if I never see HJIC again.
I could tell she was almost crying when she told me this. If it were five years ago I would have given her a hug, but yanno, it's gotten to the point that you can't even give a fucking hug to somebody to console them without worrying about somebody #MeToo'ing you in 2019.
When is that apocalypse coming again? I'm going to have to double my hamburger intake so more cows fart.
This world is fucked and the rich people are squarely to blame.

This round table has regular chairs with it which is better for me and anyone I have over.
We don't have Target in Canada anymore. They tried that experiment over a year ago and it failed. So they all closed down. I like Ikea as now I need a couch. But I would need another ride and help to get there and back with any boxes I found.
Going to pick up a table cloth and a couple of cushions for one chair today when I am out.

I mean, it's a cuss word... but it wasn't originally. Even used derogatorily, it has a few meanings. For example, "Bottom bitch" has a much different connotation than "She's a real bitch".
Curious word, "bitch".

I still cannot imagine what they used to explain BI CH. Unless the couple are Billy Ignoramus and Candy Hump.
The only sexual/homosexual connotations I would have made with the word Bitch itself would be the aforementioned "Bottom Bitch", or Elton John's "The Bitch is Back".
Although, does The Bitch is Back count since nobody knew he was gay back then?

America? The freakin' company itself spouted that lie from day one. All I heard in my interview, from the HR woman (who was laid off 6 months ago) and the Orientation videos is how the company is run on merit and not seniority.
Over the last few weeks when my manager would express her concerns about that and think she made a mistake buying her first new car, I told her to just keep doing what she is doing and she should be fine. If this guy was really looking to improve the store he should be looking for the best managers and she's already a lot better than some of them even though she was so new at it. Working overnights will turn you into a soldier pretty quick. Managing overnights will turn you into a general, relatively speaking to the day side managers who's only real obligation is customer satisfaction and constantly exerting their ability to blame any and all problems squarely on a night shift that is going away tomorrow.
That kind of gets thrown right out the window though when they're going to fire all of them and replace them with cheaper help.
And yes, it will be a straight up firing. They will not remove existing team leads and demote these managers. Why on earth would a company doing this want a bunch of disgruntled management who are making half of their current pay and benefits to stick around when they can have a bunch of semi-kids running the show who just got big pay raises instead? (Number 2 confided in me that last year he made $98,000 and had 8 weeks of vacation so he is stuck with the new changes and actually envies me. That was a few hours before this new news hit yesterday. When I saw him this morning running a forklift, he had the same look on his face that my manager had last night. Not being one to rub salt in the wounds of people I like, I didn't say anything beyond "hi" to him while he was working).
There's nowhere up to go now for any of them (The Team Leads). The HJIC is running the store right now because his corporate job was eliminated. I wouldn't be surprised if they

Yeah. I probably shouldn't have phrased it that way. Especially with 20/20 hindsight goggles we have today.
The kids didn't though, or at least some of them. I remember when I was a kid my mom told me she had a crush on Elton John when she was young and was heartbroken when she found out she wasn't his type.

Yeah. IKEA has some pretty great stuff if you're in the market for cheaper put-it-together-yourself furniture compared to the big box stores. I've never been to one before though. They always seem to be so damn far away no matter where I've lived in my life.
As big of a household name they are, I was quite surprised to find out that there are less than 60 of them in the US.

Over the years I have had a couple of book cases from them. They were good too. And I don't mind putting things together myself. I did that a lot for my mom when she was alive. *L* She'd buy things at times that were kits and then ask me to put them together. So, I'm used to it.
The closest Ikea to me, I can get there on a bus. But like I said if I find anything I like...welp that is another kettle of fish.
