Do you trust Fox News to make Trump look good? They tried, but then they had to cut Trump's sound because he was saying things that made him look sick in the head:

Trump at the border describes human trafficking in grisly detail, so grisly that Fox News is uncomfortable:

"They drive. They just go where there’s no security, where you don’t even know the difference between Mexico and the United States. There’s no line of demarcation. They just go out and where there’s no fencing, or walls or any kind, they just make a left into the United States and they come in and they have women tied up. They have tape over their mouths, electrical tape, usually blue tape, as they call it. It’s powerful stuff. Not good. And they have three, four, five of them in vans, or three of them in back seats of cars. And they just drive right in. They don’t go through your points of entry. They just go right through. And if we had a barrier of any kind — a powerful barrier, whether it’s steel or concrete — if we have a barrier, they wouldn’t be able to make that turn. They wouldn’t even bother trying."

Fox News host Dana Perino broke in and Fox News cut away from live coverage of the event.

Unfortunately, or maybe deliberately, FOX did NOT put the video on Youtube.

But you can watch video of Trump making Ms. Perino queasy at

Trump’s disturbing, detailed, and factually dubious description of women being kidnapped — a description that’s become a staple of his case for the border wall — elicited an uncomfortable reaction from many people about Trump’s mental health: "Captive women with tape over their mouths feature prominently in Trump’s inner world."

While Fox News has gone out of its way to protect Trump in the past, it’s unclear whether the network’s decision to cut away from Trump had anything to do with the content of his comments.

White House eyes Army Corps funds to build wall

The White House has begun laying the groundwork for a declaration of national emergency to build President Donald Trump’s border wall, a move certain to set off a firestorm of opposition in Congress and the courts but one that could pave the way for an end to the three-week government shutdown.

It is a face saving move by Trump. He can end the shutdown immediately after declaring an "emergency". He does not have to keep the government shutdown until the Wall is finished. When the courts stop the Corps from building, a month or a year after the declaration of "emergency", Trump could try something else to get his Wall. Maybe another shutdown? Maybe not.

“If there’s a concrete wall in front of you, go through it, go over it, go around it,” Trump told graduates. “But get to the other side of that wall.” Start at 12 minutes, 30 seconds.

Who the f*ck cares who pays for something that won't work?

That's how ignorant Trump followers have become (even dumber). They care more about "beating the Dems" than the things they are arguing about. Meanwhile Russia, China and Iran are having a laugh.

"The Wall" as we all know by now - any of us who read that is - was a simple phrase for Trump, easy to remember and easily understood by even soft leaning white nationalists, as a stand in/code for "we hate ALL immigrants, legal or otherwise."
We can keep arguing about funding and trying to beat the other side, OR we could actually have an intelligent debate about immigration, what's broken and how to fix each part. Except for that Dumpster Fire in chief. He won't do that. Face it - nothing meaningful will get done while he's around.

The funny thing here is that Trump didn't get high ratings. The Dems who debunked him got more viewers.

Ezra Klein writes:

I’ve covered more than my share of shutdowns (to say nothing of debt ceiling crises, sequestration deadlines, and assorted other high-stakes congressional ridiculousness) and I know their rhythms. By now, we should be well into the let’s-make-a-deal stage. By now, congressional staffers should be coming up with all manner of possible bargains, some realistic and some less so. But we’re not.

Before you can imagine a deal you have to believe there’s someone to make a deal with. And that’s where this process is stuck. Congressional Democrats don’t believe they’ve got a partner for a deal. Any deal they make with congressional Republicans — like the spending deal that was supposed to avert this whole shutdown mess in the first place — can be abrogated by a presidential tweet. And any deal they make with President Trump can be abrogated by, well, President Trump.

“Unless the president not only publicly announces support but publishes bill text and whips it, there’s no way it wouldn’t get blown up by Miller and Bannon,” says Sen. Brian Schatz (D-HI).

The disillusionment is well earned. Over and over again, Democrats have shaken hands on an immigration deal with Trump, only to see him abandon it as soon as they leave the room. Nor is this ancient history. Trump went back on his word during the negotiations that led to the current shutdown. That was less than a month ago.

Nope, fact is more drugs by far enter this country through legal ports of entry. More people who stay here illegally do the same. So if you wish to stem the flow of drugs and whatever, we need to invest more money there comrade.

The airwaves and print are being flooded with the facts faster than Trump and you trolls can lie.

The media tends to tell the story of American politics as if it was an episode of The West Wing. The protagonist is the president, and any problem can be solved with enough presidential leadership, with a soaring enough presidential speech. This is the belief that the president can achieve a political or policy objective if he tries hard enough or uses the right tactics. In other words, the American president is functionally all-powerful, and whenever he can’t get something done, it’s because he’s not trying hard enough, not leading aggressively enough.

Trump seems particularly besotted by this vision of politics. Trump famously said, “I alone can fix it,” and if the actual experience of the presidency has perhaps tempered that view a bit, it hasn’t tempered it enough for Trump to work in an actually collaborative, consistent way with the other parts of the government.

Presidents don’t have the power to pass, or even write, legislation. Presidential power is the power to persuade. The problem is presidents are often anti-persuasive, particularly in times of divided government.

This was a lesson Barack Obama learned the hard way. He too was deeply convinced of his persuasive power, only to find it failing, and even backfiring, once Republicans took Congress. But unlike Trump, Obama was alert to changes in political incentives, and he began to change his strategy in response. And so Obama, during a period of divided government, learned to stop making himself the face of the bills he actually thought might pass.

The White House’s top economist on Wednesday said the economy could completely stall in the first three months of 2019 if the government shutdown does not end, drawing a sharp contrast with the rosy economic picture President Trump has tried to paint during the month-long funding lapse.

White House Council of Economic Advisers Chairman Kevin Hassett, in a CNN interview, was asked whether the economy’s growth rate for the first quarter of the year could fall to 0 percent if policymakers don’t step in soon.

“Yes, we could” see that, he said. “If it extended for the whole quarter, and given the fact that the first quarter [growth rate] tends to be low because of residual seasonality, then you could end up with a number very close to zero in the first quarter.”

It represented the most dire forecast yet from a Trump administration official on the shutdown’s economic toll.
