You want numbers? Trump gives you numbers: “The border wall would very quickly pay for itself. The cost of illegal drugs exceeds $500 billion a year, vastly more than the $5.7 billion we have requested from Congress.”

Illegal drugs are almost all smuggled in through legal ports of entry, not hauled across the desert. I didn’t realize that nearly all drug smuggling is hidden in spare tires, placed in containers on legitimate commercial trucks, etc. Drug smuggling would be only marginally affected by more border fencing. Trump can't dip into that $500 billion in drugs to pay for his wall, which leads into another thing he said, “The wall will also be paid for indirectly by the great new trade deal we have made with Mexico.”

This falls into Wolfgang Pauli’s famous category of being so ridiculous that “it’s not even wrong.” It’s like saying the wall will be funded indirectly from the taxes paid by the workers who build the wall. That’s not how it works.

Nah... I saw a documentary on it from the late 70's.

Thanks to YouTube, we can all still watch it today:

Totally guzzled the Kool-Aid I see.

Why doesn't he declare a National Emergency? Why didn't he build it in the last two years when he had all branches of government in his pocket?

Let me guess..."Oh, but, but (fill in the blank) Obama...Democrats...Pelosi
Kermit the Frog...the Pillsbury Dough Boy"

I really don't think he wants the wall Homer. It's the only bullet in the chamber, he's still got a whole other year 'til 2020 (if he makes it that far). From all reports Mueller will be submitting his report within a month.

But he's giving you guys a really good show. It's fighting Donald J. Trump
and his merry band of treasonous pirates (I know how you hate the word scumbag, so I changed it). Mnuchin is up first; will Don, Jr. be next.
Cheney, move over, there's a new sheriff in town.

For the good of the country, resign already!

The Master Negotiator...The Art of the Deal

Pelosi: "What's your secret Donald?"

DJT: "I cry like a baby and hold my breath until I turn blue."

Pelosi: "And that works!?"

DJT: "Of course it works, I'm a multi-billionaire ain't I!?"

Pelosi: "Of course you are Donald" (eye roll)

The measure of a politician’s commitment to a policy isn’t how often he asks for it but how much he’s willing to trade away to get it. By that measure, President Trump has never seemed committed to the border wall.

When Republicans controlled Congress, Democrats accepted Trump's deal: the wall for legalizing the young undocumented immigrants known as DREAMers. “I’ll take a bucket, take bricks, and I’ll start building it myself,” said Rep. Luis Gutiérrez, a Democrat. “We will dirty our hands in order for the DREAMers to have a clean future in America. Then why haven’t we settled this?”

Democrats told Trump to name a price for the southern border wall. Trump said $20 billion in exchange for a deal on the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program. Democrats thought Trump had reached an agreement.

Then Trump let it all fell apart.

Because declaring a national emergency and doing what you're suggesting would actually be tyrannical.

Hmmmmm... Maybe he's not the tyrant you all constantly accuse him of being.

lol

Remember when Obama was turned down when he wanted to bomb Syria and he did it anyways? When we actually ran out of bombs from how many we dropped?

Wouldn't surprise me if you don't. The media didn't cover it.

Trump got what he wanted for himself: a multi-billion dollar personal tax cut, a TV show on every network, and international fame. What he did not want, but it came with living in the White House and flying on Air Force One, is the job of CEO of the biggest organization in North America. Despite being a lazy CEO, he is taking in more money for himself then ever before and he has more TV shows about himself then in all the previous years of his life. But the Trump Wall thing and all those details about running an organization that spans 50 states and every country on Earth? He is not interested in doing the tedious, boring, detailed work.

Not interested is why he won't get his Wall named for him. He doesn't really care to think it through carefully about who he needs to trade with to get the Wall. Why won't he do the work? Because finishing the job he started won't make him wealthier. It is too much trouble. Declaring a national emergency will make even more trouble for himself. He might, but I predict he will drop the ball if he does.

Wrong as always. It is the Texas Republicans that don't want the whole Wall thing:

Texas only needs 200 miles of border wall — not 1,200 — says Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick. A day after being at the White House to consult with the Trump administration on the border wall, Texas Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick said Wednesday that the state doesn’t need a barrier along the entire Rio Grande River from Brownsville to El Paso.

Instead, Patrick said the key is building barriers from Brownsville to Falcon Lake. That is a stretch of fewer than 200 miles.

Patrick, who lives in Montgomery County, is one of Trump’s most trusted political allies in Texas. During the 2016 presidential campaign, Patrick led his Texas campaign.

President Donald Trump has repeatedly advocated for a steel slat design for his border wall, which he described as "absolutely critical to border security" in his Oval Office address to the nation Tuesday. But Department of Homeland Security testing of a steel slat prototype proved it could be cut through with a saw, according to a report by DHS.
