Here’s South Carolina Senator Lindsay Graham appearing on Fox News after the president’s speech: "To my Republican colleagues, this is the best chance we'll ever have to help President Trump get border wall funding, steel barrier funding, and at the same time fix the loopholes. The only way we lose is to give in. If we'll stand firm, put deals on the table that make sense, we will win this on behalf of the American people — but if we undercut the president, that's the end of his presidency and the end of our party, and we deserve to be punished if we give in now."

So there it is — end this government shutdown and you kill the Trump presidency and the Republican Party.

If you believe the stakes are that dire, it’s hard to find a way out.

I think Trump meant Forest rather than For(r)est with two r's. He used the wrong word twice in one tweet.

I don't think if Putin was our president he could do as much damage as Trump is. He's shut down most of the gov and laid off 800,000 US citizens for no reason, and now he's pissing off another group of dedicated civil servants. Maybe he'll start evicting people and bull dozing their houses if they live near water or areas with any fire potential.

He's totally mad.

The Trump tweet blames the state of California for poorly managing its forests. Yet this is based on a major misunderstanding: The federal government owns and manages 57 percent of the state’s 33 million acres of forest land, while the state manages only about 3 percent. The rest is privately owned.

The US Forest Service had only been able to reduce fire risk with prescribed burns and thinning on 235,000 acres in California, leaving millions of acres untended. The majority of the burned area in 2018 was on federal land, and the Camp Fire, the state’s deadliest and most destructive fire on record, was likely ignited by power lines on federal land. The US Forest Service is part of the US Department of Agriculture, which is currently shut down . . . by Trump.

I agree with you and Senator Graham, but I am wishing that Trump will cause the end of the Trump Presidency and the GOP. That accidental death can be avoided if tomorrow Trump said the wall was all a big mistake and he no longer supported it and he declares the crisis is over. His supporters would fall right in line.

Later in the day, Trump slammed his hand on a table and stormed out of a White House meeting with congressional leaders. He feels that either the Democrats give in very soon or else the GOP Senators will end his shutdown prematurely.
