President Trump says that his proposed wall along the Mexico border “will stop much of the drugs from pouring into this country.” We cannot predict the future, but the fact is that most illicit drugs pass undetected through legal ports of entry.
Mexican cartels “transport the bulk of their drugs over the Southwest Border through ports of entry (POEs) using passenger vehicles or tractor trailers,” the Drug Enforcement Administration said in a 2015 report. “The drugs are typically secreted in hidden compartments when transported in passenger vehicles or comingled with legitimate goods when transported in tractor trailers.”
2)Human trafficking goes on inside the USA far more than right at the border. If Trump would remove those 22 million illegal aliens living inside the USA for decades, trafficking wouldn't exist. But Trump is NOT doing it and he has all the authority he needs without any new authorization from Congress.

Mitch McConnell will not bring bills forward to be voted upon in the Senate unless Trump indicates beforehand he will sign them. That is exactly backwards from the way Congress is designed to work in the Constitution. Does Trump know? Does McConnell care? No and no.

Michael Lewis book The Fifth Risk talks about even greater concerns besides the usual (embarrassing the country every day on every stage with compulsive lies and stupidity), when someone so completely uniformed is given so much power without any check or balance.

Did you know the Dept of Energy was responsible for making sure loose nukes and nuke material was found throughout the globe and retrieved so there aren't any dirty bombs showing up in the US? Neither did Rick Perry, Trump's appointed Secretary of Energy, the same Rick Perry who said he would get rid of the department during a GOP debate. Or he would have if he could have remembered the name The wealth of willful ignorance and negligence practiced by Trump and his transition team would be shocking if we didn't already come to expect it.

That's the point second. It makes the republicans look like they shut the government down for political reasons and they get stuck trying to explain it.
