Quote:It would be interesting to see the radar readout from your nearest airport. Cloud height indicates updraft, and VERY high cloud height indicates a very strong updraft. But as with a lot of things, what goes up ... must come down. So strong updrafts are associated with strong down drafts, which creates very strong winds.

We had a freak storm rip through the area the other day. It seemed to go from day to night in a matter of moments and the wind was severe. Hard rain fell for about 5 minutes then it didn't rain the rest of the night and the wind was gone. Some people I work with that live about 30 miles east of me said that their power was out and trees were ripped out everywhere. I didn't hear about any tornadoes though.

Meanwhile here in LA ...
Roller-coaster weather from highs of 81 to highs of 91. RAIN was forecast for next Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Almost an inch! But, as with so many predictions, I see that the storm is evaporating as it approaches. We'll be lucky if we get spit.

Yeah. Fortunately for me, all of my Maples are still good. Had quite a few large branches to pick up, but nothing serious.
Crazy weather here too. It's going to be 44 degress when I go out for a smoke break tonight, but sometime next week we're going to have a high of 80 degrees again.
BTW... My new manager pulled me into the office tonight and asked if I was still willing to work 7 day shifts. I said as long as they're split so I don't have to leave early to avoid overtime and I can stay late everyday like I do now than it's not a problem.
So, in a way, I'm looking at this like a 12.5% pay raise. (Just in time before my 1 year anniversary so I can bank a little extra pay when I start my company match 401k). Sure... I'll have to work an extra day every two weeks, but I don't think I'm really going to miss that 8th day off in a row when I've still got 7.
I really like this new guy. He must have pushed hard for that to go through since I was told by Number 2 that it wasn't likely that I was going to get 7 day shifts since that issue had to be taken up with higher up management outside of the store. I've only known the guy for about 5 weeks and he's hard coded my schedule into the system so I don't have to try to hide it from my co-workers anymore, and now I've got my 7 days I wanted.
There's some whisperings that there's possibly going to be a 2nd Team Lead position opening up in the somewhat near future. My Team Lead has said on two different occasions now that if it does that he really hopes that I'll consider taking it.
Who knows? Maybe they'll make me an offer I can't refuse. :)

Thanks Jack and don't worry about it.

Enjoy your day, and the nice weather if it didn't rain. Not too many warm ones left for the season. :)
Give yourself a birthday present and just tune out of the news for the day.
The hate that is being sprayed everywhere else in this forum right now is so tangible that it reminds me of the goo from Ghostbusters 2.

Well, it was dry anyways. Not sunny.
Eating a chocolate filled croissant as my birthday cake and enjoying some music.
My main treat is some lamb chops for my supper.

I am tuning out most everything today.
