Up here it seems to be aphids that attack certain plants, like rose bushes.

By way of explanation: THOSE PHOTOS were introduced into a thread where SHINY was decrying the Trump Admin's treatment of minors. It was, I thought, an appropriate response to his post in that thread.
THIS THREAD is about personal things .... what's happening in our lives, what we're doing, what we've learned in our daily lives. I, for one, thought JO's metal-bending skills were awesome and would have loved to see more pix and read more about how he did it. You're welcome to join any time; it's a free board after all. We sure can't keep you out!

Hey signy. Do everybody a favor and don't feed the trolls. When everyone else just ignored him last time he went away. If you feed him, he will come.
He will no doubt return to have something to say to me about this, but I will not reply to him here. If nobody else does, he will eventually stop. Even if he doesn't, just keep ignoring him.

Yes. I agree with your thoughts on the matter. If T would like to put down his dukes and tell us a little bit about anything positive going on in his own life he is more than welcome to do so.
I actually think this might be a way for us to all humanize each other rather than view each other as just "part of the problem".

My first thought was tree rate AKA roof rat. But these guys had furry tails, I'm pretty sure, so internet search identified them as some kind of "wood rat". Kind of like this ...
Seems an odd "find" in such an urban suburb.

I saw two mice the other day at work. Strange thing since I'd never seen one before that and I haven't seen one since. They must do a real good job at pest control there, because I'd think the environment would be perfect for rats to set up shop.
Got some extra time at work again today, but my feet started to hurt again after two longer than normal days so I didn't push it with 4 more to go.
Big manager today told me he wished I had more days available so he could put me on the remodel crew. He only wants people who know how to "merchandise". Good to hear, but there's no more pay in it, so it's not for me.
I think when winter comes around I might start looking for a better paying job. I'm not seriously looking to go anywhere else because I've made this a pretty good gig for myself, but it's been a while since I tried throwing my hat in the ring. There's no reason not to look and maybe I'd have a much easier time in the interview process than I used to have since any job I'd be applying for would just really be for shits and giggles and I'd have no reason to be nervous.

LOL about the spelling. I totally hear ya Brenda. Thank goodness for the internet and spellcheck being integrated into just about every program these days. I always right click on the squiggly lines that Firefox tells me are misspelled. It's usually the same words that I constantly misspell over and over again too. Eventually I do start spelling them right, so it happens less frequently over time. It's actually a source of pride when I use some words that are spelled correctly, but must be too "big" to be in Firefox's spellcheck dictionary.
I didn't get a lot of sleep yesterday for some reason, so my feet hurt a bit more at the end of the night than usual. Kinda snapped on two guys who regularly milk the last few hours of the shift, especially on a night like tonight when the "regular" work wasn't enough to fill the entire shift. I asked them if they needed something to do, called them on their bullshit and told them what needed to be done.
Somehow, big boss heard about this and thanked me. I told him that I know that in my position I can't really be paid much more money, and I manage not to dwell on that at all when I'm constantly working and I don't have to be around anybody who isn't working, but it eats at me when I'm busting my ass and I have no position of authority to tell people to get to work or just punch out and go home early.
This all actually kicked off a 20 minute conversation on the clock about managing and I looked him dead in the eye and said "when are we going to have that conversation?". He said that up until this point he didn't even realize that I had any interest in moving up in the company and that we will be having that conversation when the remodel is over and the dust settles.
I let him know that I remember telling him that I still don't have a five year plan when I answered that question in the interview... and he knows enough about my financial situation and how I feel about working for peanuts beyond paying for basic essentials and putting some in the bank. I think he thought that as long as he was working with my schedule right that I didn't have any desire for any more. That might be true in the end if I find out what a possible plan going forward here is, but I'd like to know what my options are in the future here. I think he's a great manager and would love to work under him if the conditions were right.
Interesting times here for sure. In the mean time, just going to keep doing what I've been doing and I'll try to get a little more sleep tonight. :)

SIX, you have a manager made of gold, and you and he seem to be on the same page when it comes to "how to get things done". Most managers are so far away from the actual work that they've forgotten how it gets done, and turn to weird little metrics to measure employee performance or they get all tweaked about maintaining their (purposeless) "authority".

Yeah. We've all had our share of bad managers, and even some terrible ones, but I have been blessed with some pretty great ones over the years as well. I'm actually really impressed with him. This hasn't just been an opportunity for me to get exposure and for others to see what I'm capable of, but I'm getting to see that from the different managers and I feel that I can learn a lot of stuff from this guy if we decide that it might be a good idea going forward.
We've talked about my anxiety issues that got as bad as borderline agoraphobia at one point. I'm not going to pretend that they don't exist anymore, but they definitely don't hold close to that power over me at this point in my life. Truth be told it is still actually kind of hard going back in after having 8 days off, but that goes away usually by first break. Maybe if I was working full time during the day in a management or semi-management position under somebody like this guy than it wouldn't even be a factor anymore.
I don't think I'd ever join some sort of training program to be a manager in a new store that I didn't know anybody, at least to start with, but I actually find myself entertaining the possibility of a future working alongside these people I know and have been building a relationship with and it doesn't sound half bad.
There was a lot more to our conversation that I won't get into here, at least right now, but there does seem to be some possibilities on the horizon.
Never one to get my hopes up about anything, I won't let myself get too enthusiastic about any of this right now. I'm kind of keeping it in the same realm I would imagining what I'd do with all the riches if I won the Billion dollar Powerball I play once in a blue moon.

My spelling fault was to stick an "s" in your name instead of an "a". So, I had to go back just because it bugged me. I can be very bad at spelling simple things but something difficult I can do easily.
And I have no idea why.Think we all have days like that when we can't sleep. Know I had one a couple of nights ago. Just one of those things.
You are doing great Jack and it is good that your manager notices it.
