I feel ya Brenda. Mangle my hands every work at night because I refuse to wear gloves. My days of being a hand model are over.

I figure I must have banged into a wall in the basement and didn't even feel it.

My knuckles are starting to hurt now but I have musician's hands. Long, thin fingers. My dad used to tease me that I could either be a thief or a musician. He also had musician's hands.

BRENDA, what the heck are you doing that you can skin your elbow like that? I always imagined that you would be doing something delicate, like working in a bookstore or something!

I didn't do any gardening today, altho I DID spend two hours yesterday digging up more grass and weeds from the front yard. Tomorrow, I think I need to soak the Fuerte avocado again, it's looking terribly stressed, and then spray the backyard with Neem oil. It does seem to be doing the trick keeping the mites at bay, but I'll also order a double batch of neoselious californicus and hope that THIS time they can keep the mites down on a continuing basis.

I haven't been going to the farmer's market for almost a year, but I'm STILL watering that parking lot tree! Looking back I see I started with an emergency 4 gallons, and have graduated to 14 per week. The tree is so happy it actually pushed out a few blossoms, but I sure wish the property owner would fix the irrigation system!

It was here for me today Sig. I had a good walk in the heat looking at some apartment buildings.

Funny you should mention that as I did try working in a bookstore just after I got out of high school but my brain and numbers not a good match. I couldn't learn how to make change. This was before computers and just before tills that did the figuring for you.

Like I said to Jack. I must have been getting something from the basement or putting something away and banged it and never noticed it. Happens. A few weeks ago, I put a small cut into my left hand and never noticed it either.

Good luck with your gardening or weeding.

Cool on the tree with the blossoms. You would think the manager would.

Clouding over here. Only hit 80F today. Suppose to rain by about Friday. So we shall see.

In other news apparently I am to be visited by the only cousin that I am in any kind of contact with over this weekend.

Back to work.... Another really good night and I even got an extra half hour in there. Got the OK from my manager to work an extra hour on Friday night into Saturday morning so I don't have to waste an hour before I can go and get the tires ordered for the cheap sale install. Looks like my 3rd week out was jagged up on the schedule again, but at least this one and the next were right this time. Progress... Mentioned it to my manager and he said no problem we'll take care of it tonight.

So next week I should have the new tires and windshield installed. Just need to figure out if I'm going to do the breaks myself or if I can find a cheap place to do them. I'm also going to be calling my step-sis about getting my teeth all yanked and getting those dentures. I'm done with em. As good as I'm feeling right now, I can't imagine that I won't feel twice as good when they're out and the infections that lie underneath my gums are gone for good.

I'm actually going to ask about how much it would cost to get a 2nd set... yanno, my "goin out" dentures. I'm not sure how well they're going to clean up with the smoking and the coffee, so it might be nice to have a 2nd shiny set to wear out when I'm getting dressed up for something. :)

The great thing about doing it right now is I think it shouldn't be a problem having them done on my first day off and recovering before I have to go back to work a week later. I probably won't even miss any days.

So my car will be fixed and my teeth problems should be over very soon. If Step-Sis wasn't yankin' my Step-Dad's chain, I should still be up over $2,000 in the bank since I started working after all of this is done.

Maybe I'll have A/C by next summer. :)

Do Right, Be Right. :)

BRENDA, I wish you the very best of luck with apartment-hunting!

Interesting that you should say that. "Numeracy" is located in a specific part of the brain, usually on the right-hand side for right-handed people.

Both unnoticed injuries on the left-hand side?

It's never-ending! The biggest problem is Bermuda grass ... it spreads, and spreads, and spreads. It spreads by seeds, it spreads by runners, and it spreads by roots. Plus, it has deep "storage" roots that if you don't get every last little piece out will re-sprout. Not entirely responsive to Roundup either. GREAT if you're trying to establish and maintain a lawn, not so great if you're trying to get rid of it! One thing I learned this year ... don't let it get ahead of you! Best to whack it when it's still a little problem! But I AM trying to clean up the front yard for additional planting. I hope that the intentional plants will crowd out the unintentional ones.

I trust this is a cousin that you like? Is s/he coming from far away?

Last week one of the dog-walking neighbors came over to help me with my irrigation valve. He brought a very nice-looking tool bucket with some pipe wrenches that looked like he meant business! So he started, as we did, with channel locks, then graduated to one pipe wrench and then graduated to two pipe wrenches (like we did)... but then he did something that we didn't do ... he shifted his stance, braced the lower pipe wrench against his shin, grabbed the upper one with both hands, and gave it a very expert sharp yank .... and freed up the backflow valve, which gave him access to doing the same thing on the actuator valve.

I made a comment like I'd like to think it was the Liquid Wrench that I sprayed on it that made the difference, but I think it's all technique

And he paused for a second and said Well, I did work for the gas company for a number of years.

Oh, that's right... he did! No wonder his pipe-wrenching skills are so developed! Well, it sure saved me a whole lot of trouble having to cut and re-solder/ re-glue pipes!

BTW ... he is one of those people that Hillary would like to call "deplorable" ... yanno, a Trump voter, a white retirement-aged guy from Georgia ... except he's a hardworking guy, even tho he's retired he helps his friends out around the neighborhood with their household repairs and yardwork, especially a retired Taiwanese lady who is his (Japanese) wife's friend who is recovering from cancer. As far as I can tell he's a lot less deplorable than quite a number of people on this board.

So explain to me sig how it is you intrude onto everyone else's threads with this type attitude.
Caging children who have been ripped away from their families
while creating an oasis like this thread for yourself to hide? Can you explain this?
