Quote:"Hide"??? How can I possibly "hide"?? It's an open thread on an open board. WTH are you yammering about?
So explain to me sig how it is you intrude onto everyone else's threads with this type attitude. Caging children who have been ripped away from their families
while creating an oasis like this thread for yourself to hide? Can you explain this?
By way of explanation: THOSE PHOTOS were introduced into a thread where SHINY was decrying the Trump Admin's treatment of minors. It was, I thought, an appropriate response to his post in that thread.
THIS THREAD is about personal things .... what's happening in our lives, what we're doing, what we've learned in our daily lives. I, for one, thought JO's metal-bending skills were awesome and would have loved to see more pix and read more about how he did it. You're welcome to join any time; it's a free board after all. We sure can't keep you out!

Nope, you can't troll us in the other threads. You can't denounce America and post all kinds of bullshit about her and then come here to hide.
Not anymore.

So, just to be a little garden-obssessive ... the mite problem ... which is showing up on the avocados, tomatoes, and eggplant ... was probably exacerbated by lack of water. I flooded the trees and my garden. The trees are showing nice healthy new growth, the veggie garden is still struggling. So yesterday I sprayed all the undersides of the various plant-leaves that I could reach (to knock the mites down), and today I sprayed whatever the hose-end sprayer could reach with Neem oil. I also ordered a bottle of Amblyseius fallacis for the veggie garden, and two bottles of Neoseiulus californicus for the avocados.
I think I better flood the trees at least once a month, so early September and early October would be the next scheduled irrigations.

Your being more concerned about tomatoes then these children is why I'm here comrade. This is where you come after trolling the rest of us and this country on all the other threads.

Quote:THUGR, this is the only off-topic response that you're going to get from me in this thread: If I post pictures of those kids, it's too extreme for your taste, but if I post about tomatoes I don't care "enough". The ONLY reason why you're here is because you're an asshole and a troll. That's very, very clear to everyone here, even to your so-called "friends".

So I was looking out the backyard and saw what looked like a squirrel with a really, really skinny tail. I thought it was just an abnormal squirrel until I saw a second one gamboling thru the avocado tree!
RATS???
My first thought was tree rate AKA roof rat. But these guys had furry tails, I'm pretty sure, so internet search identified them as some kind of "wood rat". Kind of like this ...
Seems an odd "find" in such an urban suburb.

BRENDA, I wish you the very best of luck with apartment-hunting!
Thanks, I am going to need it. I phoned two places today. One was a wrong number and the other flat out said, " No vacancies" without asking me any other questions.Quote:
Funny you should mention that as I did try working in a bookstore just after I got out of high school but my brain and numbers not a good match. I couldn't learn how to make change. This was before computers and just before tills that did the figuring for you.Quote:
Interesting that you should say that. "Numeracy" is located in a specific part of the brain, usually on the right-hand side for right-handed people.Quote:Like I said to Jack. I must have been getting something from the basement or putting something away and banged it and never noticed it. Happens. A few weeks ago, I put a small cut into my left hand and never noticed it either.
I am right handed and sometimes the numbers compute and other times they don't. Just depends.Quote:
Both unnoticed injuries on the left-hand side?Quote:
Yes, and I've done things like that on my right hand too but it does seem to be the left that gets the brunt of it.Quote:
Good luck with your gardening or weeding.Quote:
It's never-ending! The biggest problem is Bermuda grass ... it spreads, and spreads, and spreads. It spreads by seeds, it spreads by runners, and it spreads by roots. Plus, it has deep "storage" roots that if you don't get every last little piece out will re-sprout. Not entirely responsive to Roundup either. GREAT if you're trying to establish and maintain a lawn, not so great if you're trying to get rid of it! One thing I learned this year ... don't let it get ahead of you! Best to whack it when it's still a little problem! But I AM trying to clean up the front yard for additional planting. I hope that the intentional plants will crowd out the unintentional ones.
Sounds like an interesting plant, but a b&tch to get rid of. Good luck!Quote:
In other news apparently I am to be visited by the only cousin that I am in any kind of contact with over this weekend.Quote:
I trust this is a cousin that you like? Is s/he coming from far away?
This cousin is a she and I guess she is driving in from Alberta. She lives about an hour or so outside Edmonton.
She's okay. Last time I saw her was long before my mom died. So over 10years. She's a fair bit older than me. She just hit 70. Her dad, my uncle got married before my dad did.

Got the OK from my manager to work an extra hour on Friday night into Saturday morning so I don't have to waste an hour before I can go and get the tires ordered for the cheap sale install. Looks like my 3rd week out was jagged up on the schedule again, but at least this one and the next were right this time. Progress...Mentioned it to my manager and he said no problem we'll take care of it tonight.
So next week I should have the new tires and windshield installed. Just need to figure out if I'm going to do the breaks myself or if I can find a cheap place to do them. I'm also going to be calling my step-sis about getting my teeth all yanked and getting those dentures. I'm done with em. As good as I'm feeling right now, I can't imagine that I won't feel twice as good when they're out and the infections that lie underneath my gums are gone for good.
I'm actually going to ask about how much it would cost to get a 2nd set... yanno, my "goin out" dentures. I'm not sure how well they're going to clean up with the smoking and the coffee, so it might be nice to have a 2nd shiny set to wear out when I'm getting dressed up for something. :)
The great thing about doing it right now is I think it shouldn't be a problem having them done on my first day off and recovering before I have to go back to work a week later. I probably won't even miss any days.
So my car will be fixed and my teeth problems should be over very soon. If Step-Sis wasn't yankin' my Step-Dad's chain, I should still be up over $2,000 in the bank since I started working after all of this is done.
Maybe I'll have A/C by next summer. :)
Do Right, Be Right. :)
Sounds good Jack.
