River exited her hatch smiling and raced down the stairs to the cargo bay at full speed heading towards the passenger dorms. Inara and Kaylee were halfway down the stairs as River called out, "I'll get him!"

She slid the door aside and poked her head in.

"Baby is coming!"

Simon lifted his head from his pillow, "Wha-"

"Baby! Now!"

Simon practically fell on his face, getting caught up in the blankets as he tried to jump out of bed. Grabbing a shirt from the pile of freshly laundered clothes on the dresser he again got himself caught up trying to put it on over his head as he bolted through the door. It muffled his voice as he called out to his wife.

"Kaylee?"

"We're here Simon," Inara replied as she and Kaylee descended the last of the steps.

He rushed over to take Kaylee out of her arms and escort her to the infirmary. His doctor mode kicked in almost immediately.

"When did the contractions start bao bei?"

"Just a few minutes ago."

"You didn't wake up with any pain?"

"Well, I thought the baby was just hungry, kickin' real hard, ya know, and then it-"

She stopped mid sentence as another contraction hit her, grunting instead of finishing her sentence.

Simon ushered her into the infirmary and helped her onto the examination table followed closely by Inara and River. Inara came over to Kaylee's side and took her hand as Simon scrubbed up at the sink.

"We need to start timing her contractions."

River sat herself down on the floor in a corner out of the way and just beamed.

Awwww... I just loved it! The part where Simon was getting caught up in his blankents as he is trying to get out of bed was so funny! I could just see him doing that at the news of his baby comming. The fruit and Jayne made me laugh so hard I had to read it again before going on. I couldn't wait to find out whether or not it was going to be a boy or a girl! And I love the part where River says; "She's smarter than me too." Will Sara be another River? Can't wait! Please keep writing! I love your stories!

Thanks guys! Jayne and the fruit made me laugh when I thought about it, that's what got me writing at one in the morning! I don't know if it was auntie pride or River being truthful myself, maybe she's just a genius, maybe she's not...dundundun(just kidding!). I think one psychic is enough but I know I have some ideas about what I want to do. If you guys have any, let me know. I love getting thoughts about what other people would like me to write about, it's the academic in me. I am so weird, I love it when a prof gives an essay assignment. Thanks again to everyone who reads and comments!:D

I'm highly amused by how many people on Serenity reached for their guns before they figured out what was going on!

Good Stuff

*"Baby! Now!"*

I am all too familiar with ^those^ words.

I can just see the confused look on Jayne's face as he tried to eat the pear. It would probably confuse me as well, especially with the timing and all.

*“She’s smarter than me too,” River interjected*

^This^ could make for some interesting stories a few years down the line.

I love the subtle (or maybe not so subtle) reference to Inara in the baby's name.
