Thanks everyone who wrote me feedback and rated my fic. I truly appreciate it.

“I’m starving”

“Mmm”

“Aren’t you hungry?”

“Nnn”

“Really?”

“Uh-huh”

Simon stared down at Kaylee, her head resting in his lap while she was stretched out across the couch trying to take a nap. It had been a long day.

Things had gone awry yet again, a job that was supposed to be a milk run turned into a colossal misunderstanding. Mal had inadvertently insulted the buyer’s brother while negotiating a price, leading to a brawl.

Simon had a front row seat, as of late he seemed to be going out on more and more jobs. Quickly assessing the fastest route to the door, Simon dodged a fist and lunged for the bag holding their payoff. It was in between the legs of a really large, hairy, smelly, thug, Simon thought he might be related to Jayne. With all the fists flying, Jayne’s “cousin” was completely distracted and Simon was low enough to grab and sling the bag across his shoulder. Reaching out to tug Mal’s collar, Simon ducked, missing Mal’s fist by seconds then motioned with his head towards the door.

Zoe already had the mule running. As she pulled up, Simon jumped in the back, landing on the floor and not the seat. Jayne easily leapt into his seat as did Mal.

They’ve had more practice, Simon thought to himself as he slipped up onto the bench, ignoring Jayne’s cackling.

While speeding back to Serenity Mal turned to Zoe.

So very sweet! Also, I love that Simon had the sense to grab the money during the fight.

Nice to see a post-BDM fic that doesn't focus on the deaths and grief that seem to consume the fans. And I loved that Simon is finally learning about the important things in his new life - grab the pay-off!

I knew they brought Simon along for something. I now have the song "Take the money and run" playing in my head.

Well done.

Thanks again!!!! FB you're awesome, can't wait to read more of yours. Manic Giraffe, I loved the Wardrobe Malfunction series, it is also a pleasure to have you like my little fic. I wanted Simon to get the money, he's smarter than having to beat people up(not to say I don't love all the characters, but smart boys rock!). Working on some more, hope to post soon. Thank You!!!!
