The aroma of spices and herbs filled the common area of Serenity. The crew had just left their last destination, where they had purchased some fresh food along with some extra protein rations. The job had been simple--find the contact, drop the cargo and make the trade. It had gone so smoothly, it left the captain longing for a little action. Back in the black, the crew gathered around the dinner table involved in a pleasant conversation--if only, for a little while...

"Jayne, could you pass me the juice?" Simon requested gesturing at the seal packed container on the table.

"Grape juice? How can you like this crap?" Jayne growled making a face when he handed it over to Simon. "Pour me some *real* juice, would ja?" He lifted his cup to Mal, who filled it with the closest thing to beer they could find in their last landing spot.

"I will have some of that." Shepherd Book extended his cup. "How long will we stay in Denia?"

"Not sure. Ask the 'Ambassador'" Mal responded looking at Inara questioningly.

"My client has requested my services for two days" she responded taking a sip of water. "I would also like to visit a friend while I'm there."

"I have never been to Denia" Kaylee smiled tapping a small metallic box she had placed on the table. "I heard it is real nice."

"What's that you have there, Kaylee?" asked Wash, his curiosity peaked at the strange object in front

This is without a doubt one of the most cleverly well-written piece of fanfiction I've read. Great work and I look forward to reading more of it.

Great read. I'd love it if you wrote some more. The only thing i noticed was how strange is was that kaylees deepest secrect was that she read a bit of simons journal. I know everyone see's her as all kind and sweet, but i think it would be intresting if she had reveled something from her past since we dont know alot about it anyway. All and all, it was a really good piece.

Hmmm....I just can't see Inara hating her job. If her secret were the reason that she came on board in the first place, maybe. I also think that Book being part of the gov't is thin. Maybe a modern day shaolin monk (warrior prient) that was secretly watching over the Tams, but not gov't agent.

I absolutely loved the concept, you did it in a great way, but some of the character/dialogue fitting didn't seem quite right. The best example I have of it is Mal talking about the electromagnetic field, seemed too geeky a comment for him to make. But otherwise, it was very good, write more!

Very entertaining. I couldn't see it being an ep., though. A little TOO sci-fi. However, it was thoroughly enjoyable. Simon? I knew it! Zoe and Mal? Ho HO! Keep writing. I'll keep reading.

I loved the concept, very original. I always knew Mal and Zoe must have slept together at some point.

Poor Simon, he has enough problems with girls, I dont see how he'd manage with boys. Then again, maybe thats why he has such a problem with girls!

Keep up the good work!!

I like simons secret.

but I just can't go along with Inara's secret. She spends too much time defending her choices and her line of work is a choice. the reason she left sinnon would have been a better option.

I liked it, for the most part. I liked how inocent and little kaylee's secret was and it shows her characters very well. That she is sunny and happy all the time and is the happiest sweetest lady in the verse. So it suited her well that her biggest secret was just a peek in a diary. Shepherd's secret felt a little bit odd as it didn't seem very plausible. Simon's secret was just well.............Yeah O_O. Doesn't seem likely either. The story and the concept of the box felt a little bit "out of firefly" if you know what I mean. It felt childish almost and little bit whimsical in a sense. It felt too "angelic" the way River talked with it and the entire idea felt kinda silly. As someone b4 me said about the CPTN knowing what exactly happened was too out of character and at times the characters re actions and stories were out of there character. Oh and b4 I forget Zoe's secret is awful. War stories cleared up the concept of that fairly well. And i know Zoe would have told wash about that. Just next time when u write a fanfic try to make the story fell less like it belongs in a children's cartoon. (magic box, secrets and whatnot).
