The Alliance Spins, Part 8

As Shuttle One flew off from Serenity, Zoë kept her thoughts firmly focused on her destination. Rashly, she had decided to shuttle over to Puerto Clarito. Wash had once casually remarked his desire to visit the new seaside resort town on the southern hemisphere of Persephone. Her plan was to blow her and Wash’s Lilac earnings on the biggest and fanciest hotel in town but upon setting foot in the opulent, marble covered floors of La Belle Reve, she promptly turned around and headed out. She couldn’t feel Wash in a place like that.

For an hour, she wandered along the hotel zone hating every place she saw. A long-unfamiliar feeling swept over her. Lonesome is what it was. How long since she'd been truly alone? So here I am, finally at the end of the BDM!! Thanks to everyone who kept reading this out of control fic. Honestly, this was just supposed to be a little filler fic to bridge the gap between the end of the BDM and another series I've got in the works. Wow, did this thing go way beyond what I intended.

Hopefully, I'll be posting the new series soon. Things will not be all rosy for the crew and I'll be picking up on some threads I've left dangling.

Wow, awesome piece of work here. From the Hawaiian vacation and trip back to Memory Lane, to the political bombshell at the end. Your Zoe was natural and real and so very believable as a widow and a human being. Loved the healing and forgiving that she did. Alliance dirty tricks should prove to be a wonderful continuation to this fic. Your last line was very moving.

not only did you track the BDM - not only did you juggle the epic - but you also (in terms of characters) sucessfully explored much that is often handled very badly in fic. well done!:)

excellent chapter - You dealt with Zoe's movement through greif very well. And I can totally see her helping those that helped her.

I am abit miffed at the Alliance, but then again aren't we all. The Lying *#*+#.

Can't wait for the new series.

Brilliant piece of work and you captured the Aloha Spirit, gave it to Zoe and it started to heal her and get her to go back to Serenity.

Hmmm. Good stuff.

Actually better than what I was planning to write as regards the reaction of the 'verse to the Miranda wave. The coverup sounds like something the Alliance might do, although it gives the lie to the notion that "the Alliance is not some evil empire". It's given me an idea or two for a rewrite, though.
