Girl Boss movies will fail. Comic Book Movies will fail.
There doesn't appear to be a whole lot of either in 2024, but this one fits both molds for failure.
Sorry SONY, but I'm betting on less than Morbius numbers on this one.

On January 18th, BoxOfficePro predicted a $25M to $35M opening weekend for Madame Web, with $56M to $101M total for the Domestic Box office. On their February 23rd long range forecasts, those numbers remain unchanged.

On February 8th, they lowered those predictions to only $15M to $24M opening weekend, and $42M to $78M domestic box office total.
Apparently, Madame Web is getting released on Wednesday this week. I'm not sure if that means it gets Tuesday night previews or not. What it likely does mean is that it won't be getting those previews added to its opening weekend total as per usual, so when BoxOfficePro is making that prediction for only the 3-day weekend I'm not sure if they're lowering their prediction based off of the absence of your typical Thursday night preview numbers not being added to the Friday total or not either.
Tons of variables on this one.
Reviewers seem to be thrashing it right now. I haven't seen even one positive review for the movie so far. Although after reading several of them I started to get to thinking that it could possibly end up being a fan favorite for being the "The Room" of the franchise.

So I guess the question here is will it be something that a bunch of teens and young adults go to see ironically while it's still in theaters or, if it ever happens at all, will its "so bad it's good" cult-movie status happen long after the movie is out of theaters.
I'm not going to pretend to know what the tiktok consuming generations think about anything or try to predict their behavior. I suspect this will be a very hard fail for Sony and not live up even to BoxOfficePro's recently lowered predictions, but maybe people desperate for a few laughs in 2024 go out in force to see this one.

It gets even worse for The Madame....
Box Office Pro's 6 DAY prediction is now $18M-$28M. So even with the early Valentine's Day release and the benefit of Washington's Birthday on Monday, the previous predictions from February 8th that said nothing about the 6-day and just referred to it as opening weekend were $7 Million higher than they are today.

Sony has one saving throw here, however...
Somehow, this movie only cost $80 Million to make. I have heard jokes that it's a super hero movie without a super hero though, and that the costume is only worn once, late into the film. I'm going to go out on a limb and say that this movie doesn't have a lot of CGI in it. With how bad CGI has been lately with rare exception, that's probably another point in its favor.
This thing still has to make $200 Million to break even though. Morbius only made $162 Million on a $75 Million budget in 2022, and this one is tracking much worse and seems to be hated a lot more, so I'm thinking that Blue Beetle numbers on this should be considered a huge win for Sony right now.
My guess is it makes less than $100 Million worldwide.
This could be the biggest superhero flop since 2004's Catwoman, which made $82 Million on a $100 Million budget.
Can we just enjoy Deadpool 3 this year and kill off the Comic Book genre for 20 years or so after 2024?
I never bothered watching Deadpool 2, but if Deadpool 3 hasn't been PG-ified and wokeified to hell by Disney, I think it would be rather fitting to watch Hugh Jackman play the character that pretty much gave the genre it's first serious start in the last Superhero movie until sometime in the mid 2040s.
Surely, something to look forward to, assuming that we haven't nuked the planet into a radioactive wasteland by then.
