As of April 2, Nick Sandemann's family has filed a third defamation lawsuit, this time against NBCUniversal and MSNBC (my favorite purveyor of fake news).
The previous lawsuits were aginst WaPo and CNN (also favorite purveyors of fake news).

My guess is that, in the grand scheme of things, $250 million is small potatoes to these giant enterprises and that they would be willing to settle out of court without admitting to any wrongdoing, and that the Sandemann family will become very wealthy indeed.
Unless the family wants to go to a jury trial.

This will settle out of court for an undisclosed amount. It will be nowhere near the 250 million asking price. NBC will want to keep this as quiet as possible from a PR standpoint and hope it just fades away.
I seriously doubt that the family would snub a behind closed door offer of say $10 Million, just to keep quiet about it.
Kudos to them if they laugh at it and press on for more and keep media attention on this case as it went forward, but I seriously doubt that they would want to expose themselves at the same time under that microscope for years while dealing with the wrath of a much larger legal team at NBC.
If the kid and his family thought the MSM did wrong by them before and didn't feel comfortable being under that spotlight they never asked to be put under, imagine what NBC and these other titans could do to their lives if they don't just take the money and run. They'd better be living the lives of saints while those legal proceedings went on, otherwise any slight missteps will be "leaked" on social media and used as ammo against them in the court of public opinion.
