Well been out for my walk and back in the rain. Suppose to rain tomorrow then be good on Monday. I hope so. Nothing worse than going to the vampires in the rain.

Finished the windows today and they look pro. A/C being put in tomorrow, with two days to spare before 90 degrees.
Also did more work on my service door that I had repaired and primered while my bro was in town. Too much rain and more pressing matters to get to it before today. I'll get the final coat of rustoleum on it tomorrow and have another project down.
Time to start planning my gutters and foundational repairs.

At the risk of sounding nosy ... what kind of AC is going in? A room A/C? If so,I imagine that it would be in a bedroom, which would allow you to get a good night's sleep?

First off, everything DOESN'T hurt anymore. It may have been (yet another) bad reaction to (yet another) statin. Those are the devil's drug. I may go back on it for a week to see if it rears its ugly head but ... I dunno. I felt so bad I wouldn't want to go thru THAT again.
So, the veggie garden is in, and has been at least lightly mulched and is growing super well. The avocadoes got nailed by mites this year, but I spread the predatory mites Thursday and all I can do at this point is cross my fingers and hope hthat it works. The front yard is in maintenance mode... I want it to look better, but that would need a whole re-design which I'm too busy for, so the best I can do is make it look at least somewhat cared for.
We are amking progress on turning the garage into a workshop. We replaced most of the fluorscents with as mnay LEDs as we had. This latest project involves replacing a workbench that was attached to the wall with a better one. But hubby wanted to use brackets, and the wall was so unvevn that it was inpossible to attach the brackets and have them at the same angle. So since hubby had a couple of 16"X8' plywood pieces, he decided to cut off 16"X8' of the wallboard/plaster, exposing the studs, and attach the plywood to the studs so he could attach the brackets to the plywood/studs. Sounded like a big pain, but overall it was a lot less work and a lot less fiddly than trying to fit each bracket to a very uneven wall! One plywood insert done, one more to go.

Have you seen the price of meat lately?? I used to have a "price point": I would not by any meat that was more than $4/lb, trimmed. Chicken was always less than that, ground turkey was OK if on sale, some cuts of pork were very cheap if they were on sale, nd beef was OK if on sale ... but I never bought the more expensive cuts.
I noticed over te last three weeks that there were fewer and fewer sales. When I went shopping on Thursday, there were cuts of meat that I could have bought on sale for $4/lb that were being sold fo $9/lb. Amazing!

It's a window unit. I was going to really splurge and buy a 15000BTU one, but it was too tall for any of my windows. I had to settle for a 12K.
When I bought it, I would have told you that I wasn't doing it for me and that it's just to keep the humidity out of the house, but after working on the 2nd floor for a few days with near 100% humidity and the thermostat showing a peak of 88 degrees, I'm getting too old for this shit.
It was even hot in the basement because of the unchecked humidity.
I'm planning on using it to cool the whole house. I know that it won't, really, but it should do a good job of getting out the humidity and that's what really matters. It says it can pull out 5.2 liters per hour. It also has a setting to just use the dehumidifier without the A/C too.
The other night when it started cooling off I was still working late when it got down to 77 on my thermostat, and it was obvious the humidity was almost gone. I had my shirt off and I actually felt chilly after a few days of the heat. I really don't need to be all that cool as long as the air is dry.
I might buy a supplemental A/C unit next year to that one. We'll see how this one goes. I'll probably just put it in for the season this year, but make it a more permanent thing with a proper mounting bracket and a weatherproofing kit when I put it in next year.

Left the windows open last night as it dipped down into the 40's and it now feels downright frigid after removing my blanket, with the thermostat reading 68. (Correction: 64 right now. I think it must have read 65 and my mind saw 68 from a distance. I don't think I would have mistook 64 for 68 and there's no way that it went down 4 degrees since I wrote that, although since it's still colder outside it could have dropped 1).
The new A/C allows for being set all the way down to 61. It's rated for a 550 to 750 sq ft. space, and reviews on Amazon have stated that it does well with considerably more space.
The upside of the tri-level is that the basement is half submerged in the ground and stays cool (as long as it isn't humid of course). And the two non-basement levels are just barely over 1,000 sq feet.
The downside is the finished attic is no stranger to temps well over 110 degrees. The space up there could be viewed as around 500 more sq/ft, but it's right under the roof and much smaller than any other level of the house in cubic feet.
I think this thing has a good chance of doing the two things I'd like it to do, which is to keep the humidity out and keep the attic and 2nd floor under 80 degrees.

Dog cornered a skunk in the backyard. Weird, because our backyard has block wall all the way around, lowest part is about 4.5 feet) and I didn't think skunks could climb all that well. Apparently they can, the, because it was in our yard last night and gone by morning
