Jedi are ninja/wizard/space knights from Avalon. They found the holy grail and left for the stars after discovering the essence of the force with in the grail, which of course was Mountain Dew.

see...you guys can do it too...it's not that hard..and think of all the giddy lil buffy/dollhouse/angel/startrek/jedi nerds that will be able to have mix n match clothes parties...or better yet...they can make a new video game ..video dress-up..where you can create your own avatar jedi and dress him in buffy boots, add some fangs, green face paint...the possibilities are endless...
but I know you guys are just pickin cause you know I have a grrreat idea...you wait..some network exec is spying on us right now and they'll go to Joss and offer him a crap load of money to write the space slayer project....yep...dumber things are on tv right now..so don't give me any grief ! (grin)

Haha but Oldguy has made one VERY good point, there IS dumber stuff on TV and people WATCH the crap.
All joking aside, I would watch these made up shows of ours over the top of any of that reality junk anyday. Get it made Oldguy, and I shall be a loyal viewer.

Of course, after finding the holy grail filled with mountain dew, the ninja/wizard/space knights from Avalon shortened their title to the acronym J.E.D.I. (the letters match up in the original translation). The had to use the star-gate to leave earth where they stowed away for a time on the Battle Star Galactica and posed as cylons to infiltrate the enemy ranks. Once that was taken care of, they returned to earth to found Starfleet, but often found themselves traveling back in time to save the earth from skynet and the terminators.

Hah, I'm pretty sure the 'laugh in a can' thing that sitcoms have was even like 'Ooooh' instead of proper laughter as well.
And you're right, but I bet there would be a few jabs IN the spoof and even the lighthearted ones are still pretty rough, I'm not a good humored Browncoat :P
