Unfortunately my wife & I will just be getting back from Dragon Con in Atlanta the week before.
It's a shame. I would love to attend.

We have chosen the Best Western Inn of Chicago as the hotel for the Browncoat Ball. It is located a block east of Chicago’s famed Magnificent Mile, and we got a great rate!
We toured the recently remodeled hotel, and the rooms were very nice and roomy. And as an added bonus, Buffy fan events have been held at the hotel the past few years. So the staff should be able to accommodate the Browncoats easily (or at least know what they are in for :) ).
Complete information about the hotel and how to reserve your room, including hotel disclaimers, can be found at http://www.browncoatball.com/hotel_transport.html.
We suggest that you think about having roommates to defray the cost. If you are looking for a roommate, please post at the forum ( http://www.browncoatball.com/forum/) in the "Find a Roommate" thread. If you have trouble finding a roommate or two, please get in touch with us at info@browncoatball.com.
Looking forward to seeing you all in September,
Amy

I move to Chicago in May and parts of this event sound like a blast and parts sound like a total bore. And i do hate people so i will spend the weekend in my South Loop apartment.
$100 is too much for what would equal eight of me sitting in the corner, being bored, not knowing anybody there, drinking diet pepsi (fucking 21 yr old drinking age), going back to my apartment only to be bored some more, and skipping the bus tour/"afternoon in the city" bc I will be living in Chicago for years and years anyway.

Hey! I just found out that my company's sending me to Chicago for the PICS VIII shindig that weekend! Okay, so it can't really be classified as a "shindig," but... I couldn't think of another word for it. I didn't buy a ticket for the Brown Coat Ball, but is there any chance of wandering by to say 'hi'? I've never been to Chicago, so I'd probably get lost, but it might be fun.
(You shouldn't be wondering, but if you are, PICS VIII is the 8th Pediatric Interventional Cardiac Symposium.)

The Chicago organizing committee is the finest, most talented and creative group EVER!!!!!
I'm exhausted and sated and all things involving fun. Here's what I remember through my cloud of fatique and satiation...
1. The train ride was a hoot! The conductor team was fabulous and it was very nice of them to allow our group to use the facilities in their break room. Not the first time I've had to use a mens' room and most likely not the last.
The Friday night tea was lovely and never before have human eyes seen such a hotly contested origamy competition.
The Browncoat Ball on Saturday night was a treat. All of the costumes were lovely and watching our Captain Tight Pants winner demolish and discombobulate the dance floor with his hot 80's dance moves was a riot.
We loved every minute and can't wait for next year's event.
Ohhhh when we got back to the Cities, we found the digital camera on Moon Magicks' diningroom table. *sigh* We'll get everything on the disposable gift shop camera developed and load it somewhere.
