Hey All I couldn't find the thread that had everyone's pet peeves about fanfics on it, so I decided to create my own blog that touched on that. One recent thing that I noticed in a lot of fanfic that's starting to piss me off is the 'Zoe pregnant' fanfic. The story descriptions are usually "Post-BDM. Zoe's pregnant with Wash's baby". And the story always goes that they discover that Zoe and Wash conceived a child like days or weeks before Wash gets impaled by a Reaver harpoon. And it's a bittersweet moment becuase it makes the whole crew sad to think Wash isn't around to be a dad or some bullshit like that. I hate this type of story because it's so hokey and melodramatic, and unrealistic. It reeks of newbie fanfic writer and it's just so convenient in it's attempt to wrap up the whole "will Wash and Zoe start a family in space" plotline that was introduced very late in the series. It's just a cheap and lazy plot device that should be gotten rid of. You can knock Kaylee and Inara up with as many kids as you want. I could care less. River I'm willing to suspend my disbelief. But not Zoe. Unless if Wash froze a sample of his sperm, then maybe I'll buy it. But unitl then, Zoe should just move on. Have her meet another widower. That's more realistic in my mind. Or if she is pregnant, then have her go for an abortion. That would be a hell of a lot more interesting. Anyone else agree with that?

Here I am at it again, after a bit of writer's block. Been trying to sort out a ton of different things in my life, and I haven't been able to make coherent storylines in my head. Not that everything is sorted out, not by a damn sight, that would make me just way too much of a shiny happy person, but I am in a holding pattern right now, so I will fill in the empty spaces with some storytelling. You'll all be happy to know I am going back to form, with our BDH's being drawn as decent but deeply flawed people, doing God-awful things for good reasons. Dark and disturbing are coming back to town (not that Annabelle or Reconsider Me were happy tales), and they are bringing violence with them! I've got more work to do, but I hope you'll all be satisfied.

I'm on travel for work right now. I'm stuck in a hotel room in Bloomington Indiana and it's raining outside. I just want to go home.... By the way, I think Inara and Ashley Judd look a like.

Sure there wasn't alot of scene's with him in it. But any show with Tay Diggs and Adam Baldwin is good enough to watch and drool. I think the show was great, even if Adam Baldwin is a bad guy. Hey but so is Jayne is some ways. I give it 10 out of 10 votes for hottness!!!

My class hasn't seemed to take action, but in another class the teacher let us write questions for the future, so i wrote... Do they still use DVDs? Have you see FIREFLY/SERENITY? I'll wonder... anyways I'll see at 65 (if i remember)

Just had a garbled message from husband saying he wants to pull out of house-move, had enough, grr-argh, etc. No further explanantion and he's turned his phone off. I am stuck in work, a refrigerated shop, with the beginnings of a migraine, and no way to reach anybody who can tell me anything sensible. My boss has buggered off and left me in charge, pretty much until Xmas. No extra pay, just 'grateful thanks.' Husband is going off on another work trip for a week or so in the middle of this. There are just days when I want to go back to bed. I'm fairly resilient normally, but I just feel pummelled today. What with my work, husband's work, the house thing, I can't get any writing done. And a writer with writer's block inflicted by other folk is not a pretty thing to be anywhere near. Why can't people just do waht they are supposed to do, without game-palying, lying, brinkmanship or just plain bloody-mindedness? It's grey, wet, dark and cold, and I really can't be bothered with anyone else's crap right now.

Hey All I'm surprised at the reaction that I got from my previous blog. Like I said, the only reason I posted it as a blog was because I couldn't find an earlier thread that had everyone talking about their individual pet peeves in regards to fanfics. I guess context really is key in stuff like that. I didn't mean to come off as really angry about this. I'm not a negative poster at all. If I read a fanfic that I don't like, I don't post anything. THat stupid thing about "If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all" that my Mom drilled into my head as a kid stuck with me. So for the most part, I just bypass any stories I think are weak and focus on the stronger stories. All I was really saying is that particular storyline to me just seems uninspired. Now if a fanfic writer takes that and actually makes it interesting, then I'd reconsider. But for the time being, it's not exactly one of my fave storylines. And Blue, thank you for noticing "You Can't Go Home Again". I think I know what three cliche's you're talking about, but I'm glad that you picked up on the fact that I go different ways with each one of them to make the story more interesting. YCGHA I guess is my response to another popular fanfic storyline (Tam's coming home) that I've seen done the same way over and over again. And rather than bitch about it, I wrote an entire story as a reaction to that. Maybe I should put my money where my mouth is. Peace

I took my Firefly DVD's to college on wednesday, on a whim, and hooked one of my friends into buying Firefly! It was GREAT, he immediately noticed that Joss didn't use any sound in space, and loved the new idea! I've done it fellow Browncoats, I've brought a newbie into the fold!
