Zoe's baby

Hey All

I couldn't find the thread that had everyone's pet peeves about fanfics on it, so I decided to create my own blog that touched on that.

One recent thing that I noticed in a lot of fanfic that's starting to piss me off is the 'Zoe pregnant' fanfic. The story descriptions are usually "Post-BDM. Zoe's pregnant with Wash's baby". And the story always goes that they discover that Zoe and Wash conceived a child like days or weeks before Wash gets impaled by a Reaver harpoon. And it's a bittersweet moment becuase it makes the whole crew sad to think Wash isn't around to be a dad or some bullshit like that.

I hate this type of story because it's so hokey and melodramatic, and unrealistic. It reeks of newbie fanfic writer and it's just so convenient in it's attempt to wrap up the whole "will Wash and Zoe start a family in space" plotline that was introduced very late in the series. It's just a cheap and lazy plot device that should be gotten rid of. You can knock Kaylee and Inara up with as many kids as you want. I could care less. River I'm willing to suspend my disbelief. But not Zoe. Unless if Wash froze a sample of his sperm, then maybe I'll buy it.

But unitl then, Zoe should just move on. Have her meet another widower. That's more realistic in my mind. Or if she is pregnant, then have her go for an abortion. That would be a hell of a lot more interesting.

Anyone else agree with that?
