I don't understand what you're trying to get out of me Rue. I dont know who the hell shot at Cantor's office....the point was that the bullets were fired at a Republican's office. That's significant in a discussion about whether Republicans are instigating this behavior. I'd bet that no Republican egged on this particular person to shoot at another Republican...I'd bet it didn't come from a Democrat either... I'd bet the person who did this is mentally ill in the first place....or they just wanna shoot at ANYTHING related to ANY Congressman.

Well, they had a lot they had to try and explain away after the poster and 'play on fear' message at an OFFICIAL fundraiser.
As for those 'nutjobs' including Sarah Palin and Michele Bachmann - they ARE republican, are they not ?
And you forget I get TownHall emails. What they say to the media and what they say to people they think are on 'their side' are two different things. I have deleted all of them, but I will post them as they come in. Fair enough ?

Jongsie, are you dismissing the message because you don't like the messenger? It kinda feels that way. And to shrug off such hatred, violence and vitriol as "people getting carried away sometimes" feels disingenuous of you, if not downright dangerous for the country. After all, did Lee Harvey Oswald just get carried away? John Wilkes Booth? John Hinckley? Squeaky Fromme? Sirhan Sirhan? James Earl Ray? People "just getting carried away" can have very disastrous results.
As for absurd links, anyone remember Rod Paige, Bush's education secretary, labeling public school teachers as terrorists and claiming that the NEA was a "terrorist organization"? He never backed off that assertion, either. It seems conservatives only get upset about ugly rhetoric when someone beats them to the punch with it.
By the way, where are the protests about McCain uttering the dreaded "lipstick on a pig" reference? Clearly he must have been calling Sarah Palin a pig, right? Isn't that what the right claimed when Obama said it?

There was another thread where a man who was known to stand outside of a high school with gruesome photos of aborted embryos was shot and killed. It was played up HERE as an example of the left-wing women-rights nut jobs who are JUST AS BAD as the anti-choice snipers and bombers. And it turned out the shooter was a non-partisan nutjob with a grudge who had shot two other people - for purely personal reasons - as well.
You seemed to be taking the same approach. Look - republicans are targeting democrats but a republican has been shot at ! Implication: it was a democrat so they must be just as bad. That is the ONLY reason to bring it up in this context. Otherwise, it's just irrelevant.

I note for the record that while there is proof that threats and vandalism have occurred, the political affiliation of the suspects is unknown. For example, Congressman Stupak (D, MI) released recordings of threats made against him, but not the phone records to prove when those recordings were made. Up until Sunday he was on the other sides' 'hit list'.
It's a different situation when a Democrat is threatened for some reason. Maybe the same reason(s) that allow and justify the vile villification and personal attacks on Conservative women without so much ever as a whisper of defense or support from any Women's Right's groups, while Liberal women are immediatley defend by them, and their attackers villified. That's just how it's been now for a long time in America.
