Yet More Death Threats Against Democrats - Including One From John Boehner!

Ohio Congressman Steve Driehaus is receiving threats now, and a right-wing blog posted his home address and called for protests outside his home.

This after Congressman John Boehner (R- Loompaland) said this about Driehaus:

Seems some on the right are aching to make those words come true.

Legally, if you start a brushfire, aren't you responsible for what it does, where it goes, and what it damages and burns?


Meanwhile as many as ten other Democratic congresspeople received death threats, and the FBI is investigating a gas line that was cut at the home of Rep. Tom Periello's brother, after the address was posted by Tea Party activists as being Periello's home address. One of the activists posted on his facebook page after the mix-up was revealed that he viewed Periello's brother as "collateral damage".

And even Sarah Palin can't help but get all fired up (pun intended) over taking her shots (pun not so much intended) at Democrats running for Congress. She posted her map of Democrats she wants her supporter to take aim at, pointing out their locations with target crosshairs and telling followers to "reload".

Suddenly, that little memo that Napolitano released about "right-wing extremists" being a danger to the country starts to seem so quaint in its underestimation of the real danger of the nutback whackjob fascists on the right.

Funny, I am reminded at this time of some commentary of mine from circa 2006 about how I wouldn't mind seeing the GOP labeled a terrorist organization and obliterated accordingly...

Seems they're hell bent on makin it happen, dunnit ?

Of course, this is what was hiding behind the mask all along, that bein one reason I liked poking holes in it so much.

Happens from both ends of the spectrum.

Seems a couple thousand folks, some with sticks and stones, showed up to assault Ann Coulter in Canada (likely because the've heard that words would not hurt her). Senator McCain's Presidential Election offices in several states were vandalized prior to the election (locally we had an elderly Democratic poll worker assault an elderly Republican poll worker when voting residents at a nursing home). Senator Bunning (R, KY) recieved threats for opposing the extension of unemployment benefits a couple weeks ago. Etc.

So, both sides.

Its not right for anyone to threaten or assault people they disagree with (except PirateNews). I oppose the Democratic Health Care reform act as much as anyone, but I'd as gladly prosecute someone for threatening them as I would someone threatening anyone (again, except PN, who I would prosecute for assaulting someone's fist with his face, not to mention completely understand should he accidently 'fall down' or 'run into a door' while arguing a speeding ticket with a member of Her Majaesty's Death Squad Highway Nazi Patrol).

You think Limbaugh and Beck don't get threats? Everybody gets threats, hell I get threats. You don't see us crying to the press about it like little bitches.

I note for the record that while there is proof that threats and vandalism have occurred, the political affiliation of the suspects is unknown. For example, Congressman Stupak (D, MI) released recordings of threats made against him, but not the phone records to prove when those recordings were made. Up until Sunday he was on the other sides 'hit list'.

Ah, Mike...watching Maddow last night, were we? Damn, I had all that stuff written down to bring here, and you beat me to it...fink!

But luckily for me, you missed some (hee, hee, hee):

There's the GOP website, which has Pelosi's face in front of a backround of flames, with "fire her". Michael Steele remarked of it that she'd better get ready for "the firing line".

There's a protest sign out there: "If Brown won't do it, a Browning will".

Steve Dreahaus, the guy who they've promised to protest against in his home Sunday, says the police have taken to driving by regularly and parking a cruiser outside his home periodically. His wife won't let the kids answer the phone anymore nor walk down the street alone.

The Congressional police have had meetings with both sides about security, and supposedly there was a "bipartisan" meeting on same...about which the Repubs were silent, only the Dems mentioned it at all.

Michelle Bachman, predictably, is right in the middle of the fray. "Thomas Jefferson said a revolution now and again is a good thing. We are at the beginning of a rebellion. I want all the people of Minnesota armed and dangerous. Thake them out; take them down; there will be a reckoning."

Brasso of Wyoming put out a piece asking why a Congressman who voted for the bill had his brother just appointed to the court, indicating some kind of corruption--but the guy hadn't voted for the bill. His staff said he "misspoke".

Politicians know words send messages; their actions and words can incite a bell that they might not be able to "unring", I can't figure out whether they're too caught up in all this too, or they just don't care. Because it can turn on them just as quickly as the Dems; the anger at Congress in general is pretty heated out here.

Yet they're not even trying, really. Oh, yeah, Behner The Orange "decried it", by saying essentially that there's a lot of angry people out there because of the "Democrats' totalitarian tactics" and the "bought votes of a corrupt Congress"...oh, yeah, and by the way, "threats and violence are not acceptable".

Cantor: No one condones that kind of behavior"...strong words, don'tcha think?

There was supposedly a ruckus in the House while the bill passage was going on. Some people up in the balcony started heckling; pages went down to usher them out. There was a scuffle, and what did the Republicans do? Stand up, turn around, look up at the skirmish, and ROOT ON THE DISRUPTERS! Big help.

What else were they doing while the vote was going on and the ugly protests were taking place outside? A bunch of them standing on the balcony of the House, holding up some of the banners they'd been given by the protesters! Way to help tone things down, guys.

They SHUT DOWN THE COMMITTEES yesterday and the day before. Apparently committees meet by unanimous consent. At 11:00 a.m., they announced that "one of the members on our side of the aisle" had voice opposition, so that shut EVERYTHING down! There were committees meeting on important topics, like one on homeless vets, one on our military policy toward North Korea (which had flown to witnesses in from Korea and Hawaii, who couldn't testify as a result), a meeting to decide contrastors to train the Afghan military was another; the causes of and dealing with forest fires; transparency in government; the Child Nutrition Act and school breakfast programs. They won't say WHO has objected, of course, just "one of our members". They just stopped the House cold.

I assume everyone caught John McCain stating that he won't do anything for the rest of the year...except collect his salary, of course. He's apparently still stung from losing the election--almost two years ago now--and quite willing to stop doing his job in a REAL "I'm taking my ball and going home" move! Like he even needs the salary...the least he could do was forfeit it, if he's not going to do any legislating!

That's just a taste, and it doesn't bode well for our government. It was b

You're on shaky ground when you point to Napolitano as a source for anything intelligent. Let's not forget her infamous humiliation over her comments on the Undie Bomber. As for the rest....People are angry and they get carried away sometimes. It's absurd to try to deny that some vile things were said and even possibly done to these Congressmen, but HEY ....stop trying to link the nut jobs to Republicans or even Tea Party people. Every political group has extremists...even the lofty Democrats. Seems I recall some pretty nasty and disgusting stuff being hurled at Bush, Cheney and Republicans by protesters in the past, but fair-minded people never accused the Dem Party of complicity for certain individuals' actions. Just like those same fair-minded people don't link aggressive and violent G8 protesting anarchists to the Dem Party either. Just be fair, that's all.

It's gone beyond what's happened in the past, JS. Here's the one which makes me the most uncomfortable: An event is sheduled for April 19, anniversary of both WAco and McVay's Oklahoma City bombing. It's called "Bring Your Gun To Washington"...a militia group is planning to get as many people as possible to go to Washington, get as close to Congress as they can...armed.

This group is convinced Waco was an excuse to prove the need to ban weapons and to test weapson for "paramilitary attacks on Americans". One of their leaders has said "Look your legislators in the face, because some day you may have to blow it off".

This ain't healthy, pure and simple. Those of you here who've been saying the only way to "fix" things is to bring down the government might just possibly get your wish sooner than you expect. I'm sorry, but as far as I'm concerned, it is the single WORST thing that could happen. This country is, in my opinion, too big to be overtaken by a revolution, but the damage that would be done in trying to start one, my imagination is not sufficient to envision. I just know it would be awful, and the Republicans are encouraging this kind of thing steadily, have been since Obama's nomination. Now it's getting out of hand, and who knows what will happen next?

People's Park was one thing; we were protesting the system, sure, but we weren't armed, and look at the result. So far no armed protest of any size has taken place in this country over ANY issue, as far as I know. A bunch of militia nutbags marching on Washington with their beloved guns by their sides? I'm glad I'm on the other side of the country!

So draw your corollaries between the words the Republicans are KNOWINGLY using, their encouragement of their base to act out, and what's happening now. No, I'm afraid nothing has been fomented by the Democrats that comes close...and it IS the Republicans and Tea Partiers (an offshoot of them, you can't deny) who are saying these things. When did Democratic politicians in Congress behave or speak like this? Please provide evidence.
