I'm afraid that in the heat of the action we may have gone a bit farther in the story timeline than intended. Since I can't email or chat from here, I'll hide my suggestion in a spoiler command and ask that others not read it if they want to be surprised.

If you're still looking to kill off Slight (temporarily) while saving Serenity, you could do that. It might be poignant if he dies saving everyone, but the crew doesn't find out about it until later(reviewing gun-camera films or such). Perhaps he could intercept the previously undetected forth ship as it's lining up a shot. Or if you need more Simon/Slight time prior to Slight's demise, take out the larger, faster ship that's launching in pursuit. If you need any exposition or moves to set this up, let me know. Hope this helps.

I didn't go too crazy, Ciara. I just wrapped it up in with hasty uncomfortableness from Book.
I considered writing other things, but they all fell apart when I remembered it was Book I was writing for.

Celebacy is the four very short syllabels for the most unnatural self-imposed condition in the 'verse. Not to mention there had to be some kind of reason for why he made the decision to put himself under that restriction.
