well put Msg !
I am really a Mal girl at heart, but am starting to see the appeal of Jayne. There are no games with him at all.He is who he is ,and is not afraid to speak his mind.
His kind of blunt honesty is starting to appeal to me more & more.

The recient ones he looked great-really dapper looking in a suit.

Briefly hijaking the thread - hublest apologies.
Okay, a boob I can get behind - although Mal and Jayne have their fair share of boobish moments too. (Not Wash though... just realised that... funny that the goofiest guy is the most comfortable with women) but a coward??? C'mon!
Even leaving aside the fact that he obviously spent years of pain and heartache trying to rescue his sister, and the fact that he gave up everything - even his family - to get her back, Simon has shown plenty of courage.
He's stood up to both Mal and Jayne many times. Men that are much bigger and much tougher than he is - and usually armed to boot. Heck, he's even punched Mal in the face! In Bushwhacked he was terrified of going for a spacewalk, but he put on the suit and did it anyway, for no other reason than there was a chance some stranger on the ghost ship might need a doctor. Not only that, but when even Jayne baulked at the thought of handling the reavers' victims, Simon volunteered, calmly explaining that bodies didn't scare him.
In Safe he was prepared to burn to death by River's side rather than let her die alone, taking the awful chance that maybe, just maybe, they might not kill their new found doctor. In Jaynestown he refused to tell Stitch where Jayne was, even though the guy started threatening to tear his eye out. He doesn't even like Jayne, but he still didn't blurt out what he knew. In Out of Gas he was one of the few people who didn't panic at the awful situation the crew were in, even though he knew better than anyone what a terrible death they were facing. He just took care of Zoe as best he could and let the others try to fix the problem. He volunteered to help rescue Mal from Niska when he can barely even shoot straight. He also delivered a baby in the middle of a shootout during 'Heart of Gold', once again calmly doing his job in the scariest of situations. Those are just the examples I can think of off the top of my head.
Simon? A coward? Gettoutahere!

yeah I'd have to agree Simon is definitely no coward...actually when you think about it...all our guys are pretty damn heroic.
Mal- ok that's obvious
Wash- keeping calm while piloting through all manner of disasters and joking to lighten the tension. Plus always ready to defend.
Book- kneecaps ...need I say more?
Jayne- dives right in and will fight to the death.
Simon- see above
They pretty much measure right up to the girls!

Oh Good. Because I was about to unleash my annotated Objects in Space script featuring detailed notes on all the reasons why Simon is both courageous and awesome throughout the episode with screencaps of Simon without his shirt. Just because.

but this brings up my single favorite quote in Firefly
In Safe after Mal/crew arrive
"She's a witch"
"Yeah but she's our witch so cut her the hell down!"
