Mal doesn't like ducks? thats ..er...quackers

Location: Beaumonde.

"Yep....that went real well." Choo muttered, slowly using a metal pick to undo the handcuffs that attached him to the bed post.

Great...

After handing over the Serenity Dossier to The Syndicate, Choo had proceeded to get absoutly hammered, pissed and then grab a few from one of the hotels...cleaners...so to speak. Who then proceded to drug him and then rob him.

At least the b*tch hadn't taken any of his mercandise or documents, the trader/informant thought, so not a insider then. Besides his cards would have been frozen by now and he had plenty more accounts. Hell, at least she weren't The Bride of a Thousand Men. Would of have been in big trouble then.

"Everytime....every sodding time," Choo muttered, shaking his head. Reaching under the pillow he grabbed another pick from the small case.

Hopefully the others will be having more fun than he was...

IT HAS BEGUN!!! {/i]

John sat in the galley as Kaylee and Wolf made there meal. He never liked them as a couple. There were so many more desirable crew members but he couldn't do anything about it. Suddenly and image of Shepard Book flashed into his eyes an image that made him want to cry. An image that he couldn't change no matter what.

Continued from my last post.

The Operative walked over to the small control stand near the hologram and pressed a button. The hologram changed to one with the Doctor and Simon in the lab.

"Key members of Parliament have personally observered this subject. I was told their support.." said Dr. Mathias in the recording until the Operative switched the hologram back to the image or River.

"Key members of Parliament. Key. The minds behind every diplomatic, military and covert operation in the galaxy, and you put them in a room with a psyhic." said the Operative to Mathias.

"If there was some...classified information that she..well she never spoke of it. Idon't know what it is." replied a bumbling Mathias.

"Nor do I. And judging my her deteriorating mental state I'd say we're both better off. Secrets are not my concern. Keeping them is." replied the Operative.

"Whatever...secrets she might of accidently gleaned...it's probable she doesn't even know them. That they're buried beneath layers of pyschosis..." replied the nervous Doctor.

"You know in certain civilized cultures, when men failed as entirely as you have, they would throw themselves on their swords." replied the Operative as he moved to his briefcase and opened it.

A fed up Dr. Mathias said "Well unfortunately I forgot to bring a sword to.."

The Doctor's sentence was stopped short when the Operative pulled out a sword from his briefcase.

"I would put that down if I were you." replied Mathias.

The Operative faced the Doctor, his sword in his right hand, hilt facing Mathias and asked "Would you be killed in your sleep like an ailing pet?"

Mathias motioned for the security agents to move in on the Operative, but he was too quick for them. The first agent's throat was slashed before he could go for his gun and as the second had put a hand on his, the Operative stabbed him through the arm and through his chest. As the agent dies, he reflexively squeezes the trigger of his gun and shoots himself in the arm.

The Operative pulled his sword out of the man, whose body then fell silently to the floor. Mathias runs out of the room scared and almost trips on a dead agent's foot. He is almost halfway through the hallway when the Operative sidelines him to a wall and jabs the Doctor in the side with a bunched up fist, paralyzing the man.

The Operative then goes down on one knee, holding his sword out, hilt to the floor. Dr. Mathias looks at the sword in horror as his immobile body starts to lean forward.

Turning his attention to the frightened intern in near the hallway's enterance, the Operative says "Young miss, I'll need all the logs on behavioral modification triggers. We'll have to reach out to River Tam, and help her to come back to us. No matter how far out Simon has taken her, we can..."

The Operative is almost startled when Dr. Mathias drops onto the sword.

"This is a good death. There's no shame in this, in a man's death. A man who's donbe fine works. We're making a better world. All of them, better worlds." say the Operative as Mathias takes his last breaths.

As the Doctor finally dies, the Operative rolls the man over and removes his sword.

Turning his back to the intern and wiping of his sword with a cloth, the Operative says "Young miss I'll need you to go to work now. I think I may have a long way to travel."

The intern leaves, albeit a litte scared. The Operative then walks back towards the holographic image of River and says "Where are you hiding, little girl?"

*supah-bum, supah-bump, it's supah-BUMPAY!*

I've got to stop all this. The mock-honor, the killing, all of it. What was it I said, so long ago? Back when Jack was still alive? 'I am a blade of silver, I am a sickle of ice.' That's the sort of sh*t I'm talking about, that warrior sh*t I've been trying to go by since I got to you guys.

Jack wasn't the first person I've killed, although he was the only person I killed twice. Years ago, I murdered someone with nothing in my eyes or mind. That was when it all went downhill, I suppose. I won't bore you with the ins-and-outs of it, but the whole crazy-train really got started when I died for the first time (how many people get to say that, I wonder?). The voices aren't stopping, no matter what I do. Retreating does nothing, talking does nothing, even dying does nothing. If you're reading this, you'll know that I've already come and gone, like so much trash hitched up underneath your hull.

I guess what I'm getting at here (yeah, there's a point) is that we can run from everything but ourselves. Just look at the Shepherd, for Christ's sake. I know myself now, and that's what frightens me. If anyone finds this (and I think you will) , then it'll be a sort of clue to why I'm gone, although you'll be able to figure it out yourself.

I know myself now, and it horrifies me.

Yours forever,

~ Joseph ‘13’ D’Allaird, Rebel And Deviant

(P.S: Don't bother finding out what I'm really for. I'd want that to stay buried.)

(P.P.S: If you've bothered to read this far (that means you, Pain!) then make sure to tell Fly that I'm mostly sorry.)

John stood outside the infirmary and caught the captain outside. "He'll leave"

"How will that make them any different from the rest of my crew."

"I'm not saying you shouldn't do it. Just sayin he's gone. But hey this goes the wrongway That's it."

"Yeah"

"Are you gonna need me planetside."

"Don't think so not your type of job. But it is hers"

"Good luck..." John said as the captain entered the infirmary "...You'll need it"

Location: Ito's Bar & Lo Mein House - Persephone

Fruity Oaty Bars make a man out of a mouse! Fruity Oaty Bars make you bust out of your blouse! Eat them all the time! Let them blow your mi..

"I'm gettin' sick of that ruttin' commercial." replied the short, sticky old man behind the counter as he switched the channel on the vidscreen.

Yeah I know what you mean Ito. Every ruttin' time my daughter hears that commercial, she wants me to buy her some. It's freakin' ridiculous if'n you ask me." replied Pain. Finishing his beer he continued "Another glass of your house stout my good man."

"Comin' right up." replied Ito as he turned around and grabbed another bottle from the cooler.

"That daughter of yours' is somethin' special Pain. Is her mother around by any chance?" asked Ito as he handed Pain the bottle of beer.

After taking a swig Pain shook his head and said "I'm afraid not, but I do ihave a girl who I hope wouldn't mind takin' that position." Pulling out his wallet, he pulled out a picture of him and Ertia and handed it to Ito. Pain then continued "That's my baobei Ito. Not a day goes by that I don't think of her. Someday I'll be with her again."

Ito looked at the picture in his hand. It was taken in Serenity's cargo bay by the ships' mechanic. It showed Ertia with her arms around Pain's waist and his arm aroud her shoulder. Both of them were smiling at the camera.

"She's a nice girl Pain, pretty too. I wish you two the best." replied Ito as he handed Pain the picture back.

"Thanks Ito that means a lot." replied Pain, putting the picture back in his wallet and his wallet back into his pocket.

Pain took another swig of beer and turned his attention back to the dog race on the vidscreen. He was too busy watching the action to see a familiar businessman and his hired guns walk into the bar and saddle up to Pain. Ito noticed however and cowered behind the counter.

Pain was about to take a sip of his beer when he stopped midway. He saw the lack of the barkeep/owner in front of him and peered over the counter. Sure enough there was Ito hiding behind the counter.

"Awful smart thing 'e did, 'idin'." came Badger's voice from beside Pain.

"Badger whatever brings you here." said Pain sarcastically as Badger sat down next to him.

"Thought we might talk a lil' business Pain." replied a grinning Badger.

After taking another swig from his bottle, Pain said "Really? 'Cause I was thinkin' of aqauintin' your face with the bar."

"Are you threatenin' me Pain?" asked Badger somewhat angry.

Pain felt the barrel of a gun press against his back and chuckled.

"Silly Badger threats are for kids and amateurs." replied Pain still chuckling. Then Pain stopped chuckling and continued "I don't make threats, I make promises."

"I'm startin' to dislike your attitude Pain." replied a pissed off Badger.

"And I dislike you pesterin' me Badger. So why don't you and your goons leave." replied Pain, casually taking another sip of beer.

"You're startin' to get on me nerves PAin. I'm seriously thinkin' of lettin' me men shoot you 'ere an' now." came Badger's reply.

Pain could feel an additional gun barrel on his back and said while he quietly reached for something in his coat "I'm sure you are Badger, but if'n you do that you won't be leavin' this bar alive."

"An' just 'ow're you goin' to do that Pain? By magic?" asked Badger, his goons laughing at what their boss said.

Pain laughed too, then put his closed hand on the counter, and said "Nope no magic Badger, just your run-of-the-mill grenade."

Pain then removed his hand from the active grenade now sitting on the countertop.

"You're one crazy kuang je de 'un dan Pain. You know that?" replied a bug-eyed Badger as he looked at the grenade.

"We're all a little bit crazy Badger and if you're still here by the time the last bar on that grenade goes out, then we'll all be a bunch of dead, crazy hun dans." replied Pain still not looking at Badger.

To be continued....

Location: Beaumonde. Ritz Hotel Meeting Room 1

Choo eyed his customer up and down. Expensive suit and shoes instantly gave him away as a man of taste. Yet the awkward silence and concerned look really made Choo annoyed at tht stupid whore.

Holding up his right wrist, cufflink still attached and a small section of cut chain dangling Choo stated with a hevay sigh; "Its not what you think," ....

Remeber, as Joss has stated: after doing something serious and dark... tell a joke...er....sorry Pain

Despite the fact that he could of gotten off at the first moon they arrived at after picking him up (Beaumont, Beaumonde, whatever it had been, he hadn't being paying attention really), Nico kept finding excuses to stay onboard the ship.

He spent most of his days helping the other performing whatever chores they had to do (cleaning, re/assembling weaponry, tinkering with the engine, cooking, darning clothes and so forth). Whenever his help wasn't required / wanted, he stuck to his cabin, mulling over where his life had taken him thus far, and if he really wanted to try and resume it.

Over time, he began to understand the different crew members a bit better and tried to amuse himself during the long hours of nothingness by imaging various situations they might end up in (no matter how unlikely) and the ways the crew would react.

OoC: so to sum up, Nico's been in the background since he joined and has a somewhat expanded skill-set, although he's not an expert at anything, just working his way towards being a jack-of-all-trades. I'll try to post more often from now on.

John couldn't watch Lilac come into view due to the argument he had last time he entered the bridge. He was happy when he felt the bump that was the ship hitting atmo, That is until he heard some large bump from atop the ship, here we go again.

Continued from my last post.

A beep sounded and one of the bars on the grenades timer went out.

"Four bars left Badger. Better get goin'." replied Pain, finishing his beer.

Pain felt the barrels of the guns leave his back and heard the gunmen back away as the grenade beeped again.

"Three bars Badger. Best make peace with whatever deity you pray to." said Pain looking at the empty beer bottle.

"You 'aven't seen the last of me Pain! shouted Badger as he motioned for his men to leave. Badger and his men hastily made their way out of the establishment.

"That's somethin' we can both agree on Badger." replied Pain as he watched Badger and his men leave. Still looking at his empty beer bottle Pain said "Ito my good man, get me another beer."

Another beep sounded from the grenade and Pain just looked at it contently. A short moment later the last bar on the grenade went out and everyone including Ito waited for the explosion. That explosion never came and Ito slowly rose from his hiding spot.

"You realize you just made an enemy today Pain." replied Ito as he grabbed another bottle of beer and handed it to Pain.

"Yeah I know, but it was fun messin' with him." came Pain's response as he took a sip of beer and everyone returned to watching the game on the vidscreen.
