Why don't you 'shadow' Slight?
Does River trust him? Would she keep an eye on him either way?
She has to be getting scrambled information from all around from all of the fuss going on. Not to mention her stance on Slight, and Simon's little 'secret' interfearing with River's observation and other 'powers'.

I am not trying to pick on Slight, but it seems weird that everyone would just accept an unknown like a Blue Sun Ex-Op. Example - In "Trash", Saffron was not quite fully accepted as a partner by everyone. However she WAS watched - and she was a KNOWN variable.

I wouldn't say he's bein' accepted exactly... I had Zoe start ordering him around to make sure he stayed where she and Jayne could keep an eye on him, and to keep him from bothering Simon and River. (The characters don't know it yet, but Slight will be leaving when we hit Serenity Valley.)

My move for Kaylee may seem out of character, but she's very confused about Simon. This leads her to take it out on everyone EXCEPT the object of her confusion.
Hope no one minds that I took a small liberty here (especially Joss & Jewel).

No reason everybody has to get along all the time. And Kaylee getting jealous of someone else working on Serenity seems pretty much in character. Of course, installing the cannon and shooting it are two different things.
