Directorial Staff Announcement

Alright, ve haff zome news for zose zat are sufferink from vithdrawal...

Channain and I are experiencing some challenges directing the RP due to outside commitments; because of this, neither of us is really able to commit fully as director of the RP. After much discussion, we have asked Geezer to take over as the director of the RP, since he has "the availability, the enthusiasm, and a better grip on the story destination" (as Channain so aptly noted ).

Channain and I will continue in our RP roles, and will assist Geezer as necessary in keeping things "tidy" (Archives, Alpha posts, and the like); he has our full support in leading the RP.

Thanks, Geezer, for taking on this job!

DICTATORIAL...err...DIRECTORIAL CHANGE

Okay.

First, I’d like to thank Frau D. and Channain for their vote of confidence. I hope I won’t cause them to rue the day… They will be keeping me in line, always ready to jump in and wrest the wheel from my hands if I seem to be steering us over a cliff.

Based on the rumbles from the cast, I guess the next order of business is to get the AinGR RP back in motion. What I’d like to do is mention a cast change, set a couple of general guidelines, and sketch out a story-line that moves the episode towards a resolution, but leaves everyone room to play. We can discuss the further adventures of the Gunrunners in a little while.

Cast change. RavenWhyteWing will be moving from guest star to regular cast member as he takes over the role of Wash (applause). His Slight character will no doubt have a fitting exit from this episode, and may return in later stories.

Guidelines. At least until the end of AinGR, please don’t anyone drop a major plot-changing surprise package on us, e.g. “Suddenly a trans-dimensional portal opened before Serenity, hurling the ship and its luckless crew back in time to the XVIIth Century.”. Minor curveballs (“Suddenly Rowan and Kaylee develop a strong mutual attraction.”) are O.K.
Overall, everyone seems to work together very well, so that’s about it for guidelines.

Story-line. Rather than telling folks “you do this, you do that”, the story-line will hopefully just give general direction and let folks improvise on what they’d like to do to move the tale along. Folks can work on their character arcs as long as they avoid the “surprise package” noted above. Most of my ‘directing’ will be more like, “Uh, let’s move to the next plot point, guys.”

So here’s the tentative, proposed, first draft, storyline…full of hints, foreshadowing, and possible bits of action for folks to step up to.

· We are currently sitting in the boonies, following an unsuccessful Niska hunt. I believe that Channain has already asked to handle the Niska departure. Her tale and various crew comments should close out Act 9.
· Off to Serenity Valley to pick up the guns (finally). Several folks have been here before, and may want to reminisce.
· While we’re here loading the cargo, wouldn’t it be nice if some enterprising folk could install that laser cannon stolen earlier?
· Just about loaded up, and several Fed fighters appear on scan. Up ship and away. Anyone want off before we go? Maybe with ground-to-air missile(s)? Does anybody know how to use that laser cannon thingie, anyway?
· Daring escape from atmo to space, possibly aided by cover fire from ground, and certainly laser cannon-wielding hero. Also chances for masterful piloting, intuitive engineering solutions, tactical brilliance, etc.
· Margarita time! Celebration of escape. Big dinner? End of Act?
· Couple of days transit to New Hokkaido. This might be a good time to slow the action down for some interpersonal relationships, e.g. the Mal/Thorne/Inara axis, Scared Kaylee/Nutso Simon, Rowan/? , Damon/? , ?/?. Talk among yourselves and set up scenarios if you’d like. Also, let’s see if we can get poor Damon ambulatory.
· Ahoy! New Hokkaido on the Port beam. Thorne contacts his contacts and sets up delivery. Thorne has a secret behind this, which will appear.
· Rats! Handoff of goods interrupted by gun-toting goons. Is it Niska, or Early, or Reavers, or flying monkeys? Time will tell.
· Climactic battle ensues. Patience please, there’s plenty of heroics to go around.
· Good guys win! What a surprise. Anybody want off in New Hokkaido?
· Wrap up and Coda. What did it all mean? How did we change and grow? How much tequila is left? The End.

If anyone has questions or suggestions at any point, please go ahead and ask in the OOC, since I can’t get email or AIM at work.

Now, please assemble in the hold. Once we’re all together, I believe Rowan has the first line.

Ooh! Ooh! Can I volunteer Damon for the laser cannon? That's right up his alley and I was hoping to find him a job to start getting him settled in with the crew.
Maybe he could have a chat with Mal sometime and get that sorted out? The idea is that Damon doesn't expect to be staying long, but he ends up deciding that Serenity isn't so bad a place to live
