According to what I've been working from, he didn't. He climbed down and walked out. I think Capn intended for him to, but lost it somewhere in his computer.

He listens for a moment and moves off at an angle from Serenity into a small canyon.

Lost in thought, NISKA is startled when he is suddenly aware of someone behind him. Cursing himself for a fool, he begins to turn. Midway through the turn, a hard tap on his right scapula nearly makes him grunt in pain.

Standing behind him is ROWAN, holding a broomstick with the brush end removed. She wields it like a bo staff, one end supported in her right armpit and the other tip returning in an arc from her forceful tap on NISKAs shoulder. She stops the improvised staff with the barest waver.

Time seems to stand still as NISKA and ROWAN scrutinize each other...

Capn mentioned "working out" the mule, but since he's also been "undertowed" with house issues, I don't know if he'll get that piece worked out.

Okay. I noticed that initially Capn had said the mule would be missing; then I noticed that in your post, Niska walked away. At this point, I think it'd probably be easier all around to assume that Niska walked away and the mule's right where it's supposed to be - that way we don't have to make another side-trip to recover it later. Thoughts?

Niska walking away is fine with me. I kinda prefer the idea of him stuck out in the boonies. We can't waste time chasing him, though.

Hey Capn -

Remember when you asked me what color Rowan's eyes are and I said black? You never asked me why.

Rowan's in hiding, has been since the war. She's also half Irish, so I'm taking a little creative license with genetics. Rather than black eyes, they're actually jade green. But an Asian woman with green eyes would be pretty easy to pick out of a crowd, so she wears contacts to cover the color.

Thanks to Niska trying to cave her head in, her right eye is swollen shut. In the midst of treating her, Simon's bound to notice the contacts, and they'll have to get the right one out.

Sound interesting?
