It's also used that way in certain game-verses, where a "hero" is a leader or unusually powerful character --kill/capture the opposing team's heroes, and you win. In other cases, the heroes are the ones exempt from the game mechanics (like in a Star Wars game, where you can fight alongside an invincible Luke Skywalker).
Darth Vader, Emperor Palpatine, and Lord Sedriss are referred to as "Dark Side Heroes" in Star Wars, because they are "hero" characters who just happen to be bad guys.

I think I mentioned this before on this very thread, but if we're going to be giving the heroes actual names, I'd like to nominate for Claire the monkiter of "Buffy 2.0", since Buffy was an indestructible cheerleader that pre-dated Claire by about ten years.

Actually, Buffy isn't indestructible, she's just very, very tough, and she doesn't heal nearly as fast as Claire. Claire also has no Slayer strength, no prophetic dreams, and is not the latest in a long line (that we know of).
OTOH, Claire's healing factor is pretty much the exact same special effect as Logan's in the X-movies, and her dad (however benevolent he might appear) has, as someone on another forum phrased it, "the stink of the Weapon-X program on him."
Pretty much the only real similarities are that they're both blond cheerleaders.

I guess your right in that aspect. Plus, Buffy died twice in the series and has come back from the dead (even though the first time she died, it was more of a "heart stopped for a few seconds" than a full out death that her second one was).
But with Claire, I don't think she can actually die. I mean, when your head gets impaled on a pointy stick, and you wind up in the morgue with your chest cracked open and some of your organs harvested and be able to heal from that fairly quickly, I think it's going to be pretty hard to actually kill her.
I just think that is Joss saw the show (Surprised he hasn't been singing his praises for this show yet), after the inital "Wow this rocks!!!", he'd be contacting his lawyer to see if he can successfully sue Tim Kring for basically copying his bread and butter character and making a few minor changes.
I'm still calling her Buffy 2.0.
And on a similar topic, does anyone here think the whole 'character coming back to life' thing you see in fantast/sci-fi one of the worst cliches? I just get sick of seeing characters that were supposed to have died constantly coming back to life in one way or another. I think it just cheapens death as a dramatic moment in a story if a character dies and then comes back as if it were a vacation. Whatever happened to a character dying, AND THEY REMAINED DEAD. The only time I ever really bought that was in SIX FEET UNDER. Whever you see someone talkign to a dead person on that show, they're not really talking to the dead person's ghost, but an aspect of that character's sub-conscious personified.

Ok, I'm always late in getting on the train for the new cool thing, well I'm not too far behind on this one. I just watched all the eps online today. I just got thru the graphic novels.
One question. I know there are supposed to be easter eggs in the graphic novels, but I don't think I found any. I did notice the word Soma twice, once on Claire's shoe and again on the license plate of the white car that Matt brought down. What the hell is Soma? Anyone?

Soma was the recreational drug everybody used in Brave New World. It is also the patent name of carisoprodol, a skeletal muscle relaxant drug marketed by Wallace Pharmaceuticals.
