Mavourneen - Book sounds interesting, but I'm currently caught between three others. I'll try and remember it for the future, though.
NVG - There's certain sects of all religions that beleive there's no room for others. Certain forms of Christianity beleive that other forms are just as wrong as paganism. But I think that for intents and purposes, reasonable people can agree on reasonable deffinitions. Christianity, having the word "Christ" in the title, can most clearly be deffined as those who worship God through Christ. To me, this says that no matter what else you beleive, that you are a Christian. Even if that means you're a Buddhist Christian, or a Wiccan Hebrew Christian Taoist, it's at least a part of you. For myself, since I consider God through Christ to be the "core" of my beleifs, I just use the term "Christian", with the occasional "Non-demoninational".
The Buddhist demons and hell were indeed representative of evils and the state of mind you fall into because of them, respectively, but they were still personified. That in itself defies what I learned of as proper Buddhism, but it was never really my intent to say the religion contridicted itself, just that it has different variations and applications, the same way Christianity does.
MSG - That cat looks like Magneto. And is that a lime? How did they get a lime to fit on a cat's head?
And y'know, a lot of people have commented about how cats own their masters more than vice versa, but I don't see cats dressing their masters up like jackasses then pasting pictures up all over the internet.

And thats why CMH is seriously being considered for the list of Heroes. On one hand it is easy to take your response to the GND episode seriously. On the other I just laughed out loud and thats cool.
I was curious about the Buddhist Hell/demon thing because they, like many other beliefs, shadow my own. I think there are subtle contradictions in all religions, but the faith factor always seems to be paramount. And like guts, faith is enough.

So many posts. Okay, latest round of highlights.
NVG-I have come into the game late and it took me a while to pick up enough info on Ms. Inefficacy to make a comment. So here I am again; I know GND is an Ex of some kind, but ex-what I don't know. I'm guessing gal friend since I don't ever remember the word "wife" in any of your posts. The other part of my igorance that is REALLY bothering me is what's the GND stand for?
Regarding "convenience", lemme warn ya. The ladies DO NOT like being refered like that. Made that mistake 18 years ago with the wife before we got married and it still pops up in conversation. And you know, I was bein' a dumb guy: I really didn't think it was a bad thing. Biggest missed clue: there is nothing convenient about Romance; Romance is about the Effort.
Caution is good at this point. You're in a position of want and need right now. Do not go shopping for food on an empth stomach. Make sense at the grocery store, makes sense in life and love.

Too true, but I think it happens more to the dogs. Hands down the best costume I saw this year was two tiny kids dressed up as Dalmations being pulled in a Radio Flyer by their mom, none other than Cruella DeVille. The sight gag was priceless. Don't know if I want to get into the psychology of the inspiration though...

Hello Imponderers! I think I have solved my internet problems for now - but only just in time for about an hour on line... never mind!
I am definitely a dog person - though I have nothing against cats and have had a few favourites in my time - I just find that they have strong personalities and few social graces... unless that's their nature! If a cat is not tactile we do not get along!
But I have yet to meet a dog I didn't like nor a dog that didn't like me! I love getting home in the evening to an excited welcome when I am house-sitting for folk with a dog, but cats sometimes look at you as if you've disturbed them in the middle of something important "...and much too intellectual for me to be bothered attempting explaining it to you... now feed me!"

Please give Dylan my love - I do hope he's feeling much better soon... can't let all that candy go to waste!
Hello sweet MsG I knew you would love all things! That's just the wonderful way you are!! I think if I were to ever have a cat I would need a dog too - just to balance my own egotistical need to be adored... even if only by one of my pets!

- it is when our feelings are most vulnerable that we sometimes see things in a way we didn't want to contemplate before - maybe there is some sense in seeing what might be there with GND...? *she said tentatively* I know I've said it before but I have taken years to learn that the things I most regret in my life are the risks I didn't take - rather than those I did!! Ultimately even bad decisions have allowed me to grow - but not taking risks has, at the least denied me an opportunity to learn something new about myself, at worst denied me a potentially delicious relationship or change in direction. You deserve a truly wonderful lady in your life, so when you feel able to, test the waters and find out what's possible! We'll be here for you when you do!

I think GND stands for Girl Next Door - at least that's what I always thought it meant - and she is NVG's best friend as well as being so very tantalisingly close! ...and I don't think this is the first time he's expressed confusion where she is concerned! (correct me if I'm wrong dear NVG!) ...and thanks for clearing that confusion up too... I had no idea who Stephen Colbert was - but I see he does the 'one raised eyebrow thing' better than Jesus!

Dogs or Cats: Dogs love me, but truth be told, I'd rather live apart from them. They're too needy and destructive, and they piss on anything they can reach with the stream. Also, I think I'd want a cat, because they're haughty and superior, and destructive, and will piss on anything they can reach with the stream.
So, while animals love me, I'm not getting one.
Religion: Not a topic I want to talk about.
Girl Next Door: Give yourself some time before you do anything. A hasty departure seldom reaches its destination well.
Halloween: Avoided the children. They want my candy. It's mine... MINE! MY PRECIOUS!!
That, and their parents wouldn't let them near here, understandably with the fetid morass of Brown's Coart a mere stone's throw away.
And onto me. In my continuing endevour to figure out what's going on in my head, I've come to the result that I might have ADD, as well as anxiety and depression. That's a hell of a cocktail, ain't it? It doesn't help that the only doctor capable of making a full diagnosis won't be here until the 27th, leaving myself, and no few others, high and dry in the interval. Had I the means, I might have had to go off-Island to seek the professional opinion, but that's not an option at this juncture.
It's a long path I'm walking, and there's no end in sight. O where may I lay down my head for the night? -- Anon.

mornin' Imponderables.
I go away for an afternoon/evening and my least favorite topic is discussed at length (though I have seen it discussed at much more length, so I guess I should be a little thankful). To throw my $0.02 into the mix, my view on life (which can translate to religion, illegal activities, or just about anything else) is to do whatever you feel like so long as it isn't keeping others from doing the same (I am sure I and others have expressed this very thought on some thread or another). If it helps you sleep at night, then believe whatever you want.
One interesting difference in my cats and my dogs is that the cats never try to get in the bed (and therefore in the way) when we, uh, get to grappling, and the dogs seem to think that is the best time to bed for attention and snuggle up to us.
