Magda, I live in the Deep South, Bible belt, and it was a Southern Baptist church. There are literally churches on every corner in this little town, and everyone pretty much assumes that you are some sort of Christian, especially working for the gorramn feds. I am happy to hear that your church is not the pushy kind, as most from out of the US and many in the US that are not in the South are. I just smile and let them do their thing, because getting into a discussion with any of them has proven to be useless every time I have tried it. They will hear what I say but not listen to me, and I don't see much point in continuing to try.

Morning, Everyone.
Well, the fun of Halloween at my house was just a front so Carson wouldn't be so upset - my Husband's Cockatiel got out of the house, and flew away.
As son & I pulled into the driveway last night, Husband told us Hope (bird's name) had gotten out the living room window.
We looked for a long time, but no luck. Husband is distraught; he failed to clip her wings last week when he noticed she was flying a bit too much, and he opened the window because it was so darn nice out last night.
She was a beautiful Galah cockatiel:
My son cried as he went to sleep, worrying about Hope. Husband was stoic, but I could tell he was just barely holding it together.
Carson, being 5, was able to forget about Hope for a little while and trick or treated at a few houses...but when we got home he remembered and was upset again.
I need more coffee.

I am sorry to hear about that. It is very sad indeed when that sort of thing happens. Hopefully (no pun intended) she will come back, or you will somehow find her. Otherwise, you might just have to be happy with the fact that she is enjoying her freedom and happy in her own right. :-\

Morning, all!
I hope everyone had fun last night. I had a mind-blowing, exciting evening of sitting at home doing some sewing! 
I am in a neighborhood that does not have a lot of children, so it was rather quiet. I did not even see any houses T.P.'ed.
Well, it's a beautiful Wednesday...let's hope it stays that way!
Off for more coffe, then I will be back!

Mavourneen dearest! tell Carson that the beautiful gallahs in Australia live in the wild all the time and I am sure Hope will be fine! PM me your address and I'll send him a postcard! I have been sending quite a few lately and I love to do it!
Well - that's it for me - got to go and get my sleep or I will not wake up in time for the tech who's coming to my folks place tomorrow... I have to be there before 7.30am - what do you bet he doesn't get there before mid-day?

I have no doubt that you would listen, it's part of what makes you a Browncoat (or being a Browncoat is what leads you to listen, either way, it's a goodness).
Good luck with the tech troubles. Were I worth my salt as an engineer I would be able to help you, but sadly PC repair hasn't been my forte for some time now. :(

*Waves to Mags* Hiya there sis!
So I posted this in the Pub but realized that it could start a fun day after conversation:
Well Trick or Treating was ok last night. Except that it seems like every year less and less houses are lit up in my neighborhood. That makes me so mad! Its for the kids to go out and have fun for 
sake! It seems like people go out of there way now a days to find a reason to not let kids have fun anymore! Or they decide that it is against their religion to participate in Halloween even though they were Trick or Treating as kids. When I was a kid every house was lit up and there was candy by the ton.
So what has happened to Halloween? I mean it was never about religion when I was growing up and now it is. It is suppose to be about the kids. Now I understand how it all began but why has it become taboo for some religions now? Why have some religions become so closed minded? Especially when most of them did not care about this day 20 years ago. It just seems like another form of control and it makes me so angry!

Well we had a lot of lovely trick or treaters and finally had to just put a bowl on the porch with the take only one sign so we could go to bed. Kids were really decent and actually toook only one. There was candy left when we got up:)

Kelkhil- not sure how we lost the joy of halloween, though I will say the kids in my neighborhood we pretty sweet ( had the cutest little 1 year old elephant come a trick or treating)
RIMG- hmmm sorry about the baptists...methodists are a little calmer( for the most part) but having grown up in Atlanta I do understand the church on every corner.

As Magda pointed out, Galahs are from Down Under...where it is warmer than here in the Mid-Atlantic US. I'm worried about her surviving. Yesterday's weather was unseasonably warm, but in the next 24 hrs it is supposed to turn much colder, esp. overnight.
She's also not used to flying - I would think she's walking on the ground, and easy pickins for some kind of critter.
I don't want to focus too much on this or it will drive me nuts. -Thanks for the kind words.

I grew up Methodist in Columbus, GA, very similar in the religious aspect to my current locale. When I was in Atlanta for school is when I started to question it all and eventually came to the conclusions I now hold to.
