Hi Shiny Kitten!! That sounds gross... poor you! I had my share of sinus infections over the years - but not as severe as that - I did have some huge pollups in one of my sinus's but it healed by itself... my sister had something like you though and the operation to go with it! Not fun at all!! 
glad things are much better for you - the pollution in Sydney usually gets to my throat - but that's the same in London too... and Manila - they say you cope with your own cities' pollutants better than other ones...

Hi, Magda, RMMC, and ShinyKitten. I hope everyone starts to feel alittle better, soon. I'm flying to Chicago tomorrow to visit family, and I'm taking my AirBorne before I leave. I don't want any of the icky bugs to settle in on me.
ShinyKitten, what a terrible ordeal for a young child, but atleast it did help. I hope you don't get what's going around.

I have nothing to add, as I've been very healthy throughout my life. My mom was always into the natural treatment and letting my body take care of itself and I never got serious illnesses as a possible result of that; kept my immune system strong enough to kick most things out before they get started. Also don't have anything wrong like overly small sinuses and such. I just wanted to say something because I'm here!

alot of my health problems came from the fact that i was born 12 weeks early. i weighed under one pound. that i survived at all was a complete miracle- babies that are born that early nowdays aren't expected to live, even with all the technology etc available, so for me to survive in 1984, with the technology etc avilable then...well, it's kinda unheard-of.
i only had the sinus surgury done last year. when i was little the trouble was with my lungs, (i had really severe croup, and almost died a couple of times) and the sinus stuff took over from that as i got older. i had kinda gotten used to being sick all the time, so the last two years or so have been a real 'health' breakthrough for me.

Hello mei mei - I am so very glad you don't usually get sick... I think your Mum is a very wise person... I hope I get to meet her one day!
ShinyKitten - I had glandular fever when I was 17 I think and since then I have gone from 1 virus to another so the breakthrough for me has been 'Olive Leaf Extract' and I am amazed at how it has helped to strengthen my immune system! I guess I'm saying that I understand (to some degree) and share your joy!!

Hi all... finally decided to catch up on the imponderings... took me more than an hour that i dont really have to spare, but o well. As someone once said, for the important things, you make the time.
Hmm... competitiveness... well back when i had PE class, i'd care for about... 3-4minutes about losing, then i would completely forget. one thing i cant stand though is those games... those "lets all have fun by playing a game where people get eliminated" games.... most recently i went to a party of a club i joined, so i only knew a handful of people, and the game they played was... like simon says, but.... with pirates or something... but it was really annoying. I dont understand how people tolerate the fake camaraderie in those games. We're all friends here, now... YOU'RE OUT! HA HA!. and i'm not making that up, there was actual pointing and laughing. My opinion on the subject is either say you're gonna be competitive (like a sports game) or dont be (like theater).
Chivalry... well, i dunno. my dad has this thing about opening car doors for guests and people, and it sorta feels weird. polite, but unnecessary and weird. i prefer expediency in those kinds of things. if me and someone else, male or female is going for a door, i just go straight on through: it tends to save a lot of time and stupidity. That whole "after you" "no, after you" mental debate on who should go first. Not to say i dont believe in being polite, considerate, and understanding, but i try not to dwell on the traditional things in chivalry. Just walk through the door, damnit, you arent very likely to hit each other.
And on the topic of being sick... i dunno what happened, i suddenly came down with a cold/sore throat this weekend. i very rarely get sick, in fact, i havent had a real fever-need-to-lie-in-bed for years. luckily this isnt that, but damn its annoying.
Ok, thats all the time i got, need to get back to my civics. for all.

'morning all...
Well last week was entertaining (of a sort). Earthquake, island-wide power outage, lousy weather, being reminded to stay at home by the authorities, and everything closed down....meh...it was worse than Thanksgiving, Christmas, or New Year's (at least there'd be movies to go to...) I think I've sorted out most of last week now...but work's getting crazy, so I'm posting less often (since my luck with posting at home is dismal).
NVG, Tristan, hope the dates went well (or at least pleasantly). I agree with MsG about "taking care" of Ms. Indelible, but really MsG...shave her bald and snatch her through town? Why? I mean, really...drag her through town first then do what I threaten some of my students with: paint her hair with crazy-glue, stick her to the ceiling (at least 14 feet up) and leave her there for gravity to work with...
(If you want to be "nice" you can stick a foam mattress under her so she doesn't smack the floor too hard.)
*looks at folks who are shocked into silence* What? You think I'd discourage MsG from handling that girl? That girl gives the rest of us women a bad name. I'm with MsG in providing a "wake up call" for the girl. NVG, if she doesn't figure it out, you're welcome to come here...I know a lot of womenfolk who'd find a guy like you worth hunting down and dating. (I'm sure there's a few here who hunt too...I know more would be fishing and swimming, but I'm digressing...)
Competiveness: Yeah, I've seen mean (petty rather), and I've seen annoying with competiveness in games and whatnot. (Ever have another female do the stupid high-pitched squeal when it looks like she's losing? UGH! Makes my skin crawl, and then I want to slap tape on her to stop her noise.) I try to ignore the trash-talk, the posturing, and whatnot. If I'm playing to win, I'm playing to win...but I'd rather play to have fun. 
...Oh...and the "comptitiveness" I have with certain other folks here is all in good fun. 'Cause making some folks all inarticulate by doing PG rated things is so much fun. 
Okay...the whole MsG/Marvoreen lil' kid in the car fight...1) cut it out, or we're going home and dinner is going to be squid lu'au and the like... 2)Cute pic Marvoreen. 3)Some of us folks have a really hard time getting over being sick MsG...(think hard coughing that lasts months).

I don't think chilvary is dead...more of a morph into general politeness expectations...Opening and holding the door, helping carry overloaded folks, etc. My mom "taught" me those kinds of good manners. (I use "taught" because she never stood around and said "This is what you do..." nor to do it... She used to work as an Educational Assistant for the orthopedically disabled kids in special education and hurt her back lifting a "kid" to change them. So grew up learning to grab the heavier stuff and let mom carry the light stuff.)
Undies...silk's nice but expensive, microfiber's nice too, but I tend to be the cotton type myself...
Shinykitten...woah...12 weeks premature?...and in the '80's *boggle* *genuflects* Having dated someone who was a preemie I can appreciate some of the things you survived.

Made me feel like the Wicked Witch of the West. My health issues all stem from my mother chain-smoking when she was pregnant (which they didn't know was a health hazzard in the 1960's) with me. 'Course they also didn't diagnose my asthma until I was 30!
Oh, I think I forgot a bit in the undies catagory. I have cotton and would love silk, but can't afford it.
