Versexplorer, I understand about the lurking...been doing that myself from time to time.

One thing I never want is one of the ladies from this board angry or pissed at me...there would be all manner of unpleasantness heaped upon my head... It is wonderful to know that y'all are like that, though. Makes a man feel safe! 
I think we are all so in tune with each other that we even catch colds all over the globe...
Magda, sorry! Turns out I may have been one of the carriers! 
I am much better though, so the good news is that it does not last long!
Nico, I am a follower of the ways of chivalry...or at least I try to be. It is sometimes difficult to do so in this day and age, but I do find that most people are appreciative and thankful. On SO's, I sometimes practice 'guerilla chivalry'...by which as we are approaching a door and she reaches for it, I'll make some loud noise to make her pause, thereby giving me the chance to grab the door first! Doesn't always work, but it's fun when it does.
I generally try to be nice, courteous, and at least somewhat friendly to the people around me. I don't mind holding doors open, and I don't have a problem when one is opened for me.
I don't know if I'll be back on today...I have yard work and sewing to do, followed by a date later this evening.

I believe in being polite. I feel pulling a chair out for a woman is not chauvinistic. Women have always held a special place for me. It is only in recent years they have been given equal status legally. I know some busnesses still have trouble with equal opportunities for women. As the years go by this, I hope, will change. I will always pull the chair out for women and I suspect this will continue for some time with most of the male population. I just hope men also realise women can work beside us. The work place is going to be the big hurtle. Equal pay for equal work. Getting the promotion when it is deserved seems to be the issues that are still out there. So pulling out a chair is a small thing compared to how we treat women at the work place.

Nico, Magda, and Tristan, I do believe in chivalry. Good manners and politeness make the world a little easier to live. I always let ppl go in front of me at the grocery store if I have a cartful and they have one or two items. It's just a nice thing to do.
Traveler, equal but special is a great way to view women. : ) Thanks for your post.

Verseexplorer, thanks for the well wishes. I have a problem with colds that won't leave. Something about my allergies making things all manner of difficult for my body to evict the little buggers. grrr.
Chivalry: Like PR, I don't mind it as long as others don't mind me holding doors for them as well. I've surprised the delivery men at work by holding the door for them when they're hauling in supplies. I like Travelers' 'equal but special' thought. Traveler, you're quite a gent.
I've also done the offer my seat on public transportation (I was raised that first consideration goes to your elders, peroid) lets folks in from in lines in stores, traffic etc. I agree with 'Verseexplorer: it's plain good manners and politeness, which I think the world needs more of, not less.

Hello RMMC! I had the same problem myself - allergies plus lack of resilience following Glandular Fever as a teenager made my autumn - winter & through to spring a series of never-ending colds, coughs and 'flu's - but you've all heard me go on and on about Olive Leaf Extract so I won't dwell on it any more...
Apparently the human body's immune system reacts to invading allergens in exactly the same way as it does to invading virus's - that's why we get so tired and our immune systems get run down during the allergy periods of the seasons...
Hope you're all feeling heaps better very soon - I am definitely on the mend!

heya! good to hear you're on the mend there, Madga. nothing is fun when you're sick.
it seems as though there is a browncoat virus going round, everyone's been taken down by it...*gasp* maybe its a giant conspiracy!!, ummm not a conspiracy played out by giants, but more of a big worldwide reaching kinda conspiracy...yeah, that's definately what it is...someone wants ALL the browncoats to be sick. oh! someone's trying to deviously kill us off!! (hehehehehe

bleh, i know ALL about being sick...spent most of my early childhood days in hospital for stuff, and i used to get these huge sinus infections every time the season changed. and then i started getting them every four weeks, pretty regularly and they kinda snowballed and wouldn't leave and i ended up getting pnuemonia. i then ended up having this surgery, where they basically chisled out the bone in my sinuses to make them bigger so i wouldn't keep getting infections (i had some tumors and stuff in there as well, which wasn't helping matters)and now i haven't had a infection for almost a year. its very exciting for me

Actually I missed that as I had a hard time keeping up with Imponderables. Olive Leaf Extract, hm? I'll go check it out at the health food store. Thanks!

Yeah, that's what my doctor told me last year when I had a summer cold for two months. I ended up having to not visit my closest friend as I'm allergic to her cat.
She keeps her house pretty clean (her hubby's slightly allergic to the cat as well) and I'm normally fine, but when the cold is added....Gah! This finally cleared up when I went camping for two weeks. Go fig.Quote:

Wow, your childhood diseases beat mine. I got everything that went around (and passed most of them to my annoyed siblings) but I think my worst were mumps and spending 4 1/2 months with bronchitis (Jan-May) but thankfully not at the same time.
Glad to hear the rhinoplasty worked for you! One of the women I work with had it done last year as well and has helped her tremendously.
