Well, he's not my type () but he surely can act. Little weird to hear him talk and sing in his own voice.

Speaking of which, has it occurred to anybody that Spike's Sid Vicious thing is totally bogus? He was never a working-class bloke.

They played on that in "Fool for Love." Angelus remarks his accent has changed, different from when he was human. Neat little character details like that is what made FFL a classic.

That's true, he wasn't. Hmmm. Maybe it was just the big rebellion from the snooty upperclass that rejected him as a human? or maybe if you live for more then a hundred years, you just get to pick which people you identify with and be like them? Even his accent though, went all Cockney after he turned Vamp, and it had sounded much more uppercrest when he was whining William the Bloody (awful poet).

Anyone else love the call back to William the Bloody (awful poet) when Angel says he won't rip Buffy's lungs out because it lacks poetry and Spike says "It doesn't have to. Let's see... what rhymes with 'Lungs'?"

Well, I guess it makes sense. They actually did the same thing in reverse for "Band Candy". The shooting script calls for Giles's accent to become more "working class" as he regresses.

Does anyone know if Marsters will be appearing at Comic-Con in San Diego? I'm going, & I would love to meet him.

That was a conscious choice - William the Bloody Awful Poet was a wimp. When he became a vampire, Spike chose to become everything that the human William wasn't - an aggressive killer who got the chicks, among other things.

Just imagine if you were give the chance to reinvent yourself. William had low self-esteem and overcompensated with his uber-macho slayer slaying personality.

Just makes you want to shower him with love so that he can drop the front, doesn't it?

Now here's the real question: Next season, now that Spike has a soul, will he become more William-like? There has been a lot of fuss made over Marsters showing his darker roots, but will they cary the change over into his voice? 'Cause that'd be neato!
