The US itself has supported terrorism when it has suited what it thought was its own interest...
As has Russia, and I suspect many of the other major powers... at what point is it all wrong ?

At any point. Instantly. That doesn't change the fact that it's as common as dirt. But AUR seems to be under the impression that Iraq's support of Hamas made our attack on that country in some way a vital necessity. Iraq, while it may have sponsored Hamas, was engaged in regional interests (and thumbing its nose at the US). Iraq had no connection to Al-Q, and that's just the way it is.
My broader point is that he's justifying the Iraq war by picking and choosing one country's minimal - and really, compared to other countries contributions, it is minimal- support of regional terror as a reason to start a war. A war which has made us no new friends and a boatload more enemies. And if you're going to start attacking terror sponsors worldwide, you're in for years and years of war (our children's children will still be fighting that war).

A man who starred in a video released by al-Qaida's deputy leader Ayman al-Zawahri on Saturday, inviting Americans to convert to Islam, has been identified as Adam Yehiye Gadahn, an American with Jewish ancestry.
According to Wikipedia, he was born Adam Pearlman on September 1, 1978, the grandson of a prominent Jewish surgeon and the son of musician Phil Pearlman, who converted to Christianity and changed his named to Gadahn (apparently derived from the Biblical figure Gideon.) He grew up in Santa Ana, California, converted to Islam and, in 1995, posted an essay on the USC Web site describing his conversion.
