I liked Ender's Game a bunch! And, that twist with the game they played? Crazy!
The second book, Speaker for the Dead, was pretty good, as well. But, the one that starts with an 'x' was too difficult to get through.
As for Ender's Shadow, that one was alright. I could have lived without it, but...

Ho domicorb3000! I read Ender's Game in the seventh grade and have read it every year since then. Without exposing my age, let's just say that dates back to when Saturday Night Live was funny.
The whole series is great, but that first book is outstanding.
By the way, my brother-in-law is in the Air Force and he said that Orson Scott Card came to speak to them about leadership not too long ago at one of their sessions. He spent most of the time talking about Ender's Game. I was so jealous.
There's a rumor that they're making a movie. Any one heard anything aobut it?

I've heard a few things about the movie, namely that it's experiencing endless delays because they can't figure out how to really make it work. (Also there have been rumors that Card is not making it much easier for the producers and writers) I've been hearing it "might be coming out in the next couple years" for at least five years now, and last I heard they still didn't have a final script, even.

I've heard about Card's difficulties too. He seems to be pretty protective. I'm surprised SciFi hasn't tried to make a Dune-like miniseries with it.
Here's hopin....

Loved Enders Game and Enders Shadow. All the books after these got so epic and complex that they lost their charm. Sadly I've read them all but Shadow of the Giant. I'm sure I'll eventually pick that one up too. Gotta say the Jane character was great early on.
Still I'd just recommend people read Enders Game then Enders Shadow. Those two compliment each other so well. Two different points of view on the same events. One emotional and one analytical. They were both great.

Milford...Steve Martin funny or Dana Carvey funny??
Just kidding:)
I thought Ender's game was ok, but I'd rather not teach it. I prefer teaching Watson's go to Birmingham or Cat ate my Gymsuit or Dealing with Dragons...
Anyway, his short stories are really gruesome I have to say. There's one with some little girl who's really a witch trying to get this box opened by inhabiting an adult body and marrying and sleeping with an adult and then forcing him to open it and it's the heart of some evil beast and it rips her body apart...really morbid and creepifying

That is a bit unsettling.
As for the funny, it could either be Steve Martin in Three Amigos funny, or Steve Martin in Novacaine funny, or Dana Carvey funny on SNL, or Dana Carvey funny in Master of Disguise. That's a pretty broad range.

I've read Ender's Game and loved it. The more I got into the series however the more bored I got. It seemed like the last couple of books could have (and should have in my opinion) been edited into one. I gave up on the last one about halfway through and just read the last chapter. I did like Ender's Shadow about Bean but none of the other spin offs appealed to me.
