yep ive read the whole series and it's shadow series, fantastic books. Orson Scott Card is another Joss, the man knows how to tell a good story. I've heard talks of an Ender's Game movie, that'd be cool.

Ender's Game was a great book, and a fun read. It's really too bad he didn't quit while he was ahead, as the entire series went down hill from there.

There were lots of innovative and imaginative concepts introduced in the first book (zero gravity tactics, self-adapting games, the whole Battle School concept, the surprise ending, etc.) but I was really disappointed with the total lack of anything new in the later books. They were just more of the same.

And then to tell the exact same story from another character's point of view? What was he thinking? He must have had a payment due on his yacht or something.

Orson Scott Card is one of my favourite authors, even though the occasional novel leaves me cold. His collection of short stories, _Maps in a Mirror_, is awesome. _The Worthing Saga_ is an excellent sci fi novel, and the Alvin Makers series is great alternate-history fantasy (picture the U.S., couple hundred years ago, if magic really existed).

_Ender's Game_ and all the books that followed, including the Shadow ones, were really excellent, I thought, for showing how people change from being "good guys" to "bad guys" and vice versa depending on where they are in their lives and who's making the judgment.

The Ender of _Ender's Game_ was infallible; the Ender of _Ender's Shadow_ was flawed, but Bean loved him anyway.

Bean was a minor character in the "main" series, then the main character in the Shadow series.

Peter was a villain, and then a hero.

Mr. and Mrs. Wiggin were first portrayed as well-meaning and ineffectual sitcom parents, and then as human beings whose deep commitment to family life had been completely undermined by the institutions of their day, so that they had to do Peter's bringing up covertly.

I don't always like Card's work, and I find some of his views repugnant, but there's no question he's a writer of the highest calibre.

Oh, and he's written some very good work on how to write, too, so he's not afraid to share :)

I've only read Ender's Game itself and not any of the other books of the series. It was excellent, even if I don't really agree with his views on anything (except on Firefly and Serenity of course). He's not exactly my favourite science fiction writer but he's easily one of the better writers out there.
