Where'd you happen to get this duster? And do you have a picture? I've been looking for brown coats all over, and leather ones are pretty far outta my price range.

Here's a beaut of an oilcloth duster from an outback gear store.

I actually found the link in a thread here on fff.net:

They have actual leather suspenders, too--not exactly what Mal wore, but very Firefly-esque.

I have a professional costumer friend, also, who is working on a brown suedecloth reproduction of the Mal coat. It's not real leather, but it's considerably more affordable than the leather ones. I need to dig up her web addy so I can post it.

For the movie last summer (it was still summer in Virginia), I had a tan linen jacket that I dyed a dark brown. I can't find a leather one that fits comfortably, so I'm working on a pattern to make my own. I hope I have enough sewing skills to pull it off.

I have one I made for the costume. There are pictures of it on this site...somewhere.

Did he just go crazy and fall asleep?

I have a brown coat.

Well its really a brown jacket. But it is brown. A nice chocolate color and I guess it would do if we ever marched to victory on the Fox studios.

The good thing about the Browncoats is that each one can have its own individual flair, it's the colour that's important.
I got me a Dry-As-A-Bone, good Australian leather and well worn.
