Hey, just so we clear this up now and avoid any hurt feelings later in the future, let me just say now that I have a paranoid fear of babies. This Captain will not be changing any diapers, or kissing any babies, dong ma?

As she approaches Captain Ebo and over hears her words, she blanches a little, and instead of greeting her with cameraderie and friendliness, whimpers just a bit,

"Did you have to mention the 'D' word?"

Shrugging it off as best she can she switches her coat to the other arm and holds out her hand to shake Ebo's.

"Sorry, Hi, i'm Seryn, good to meet you" she pauses, and realises more information might be useful, "I um, fly things, and can fix things, and also sew things. To be honest, in the near distant future, probably more of the sewing things.
But if you don't like babies, i'd practise your best avoidance techniques now. I'm afraid they're going to be all over the place soon"
*smiles*
"But in the mean time, if you want some new clothes for the Wedding, I'm taking orders, and seeing as you're officiating..."

*looks around briefly* "Is Serenity still about, I hoped to talk to her..."

Hodgins: Your robot reminds me of you. You tell it to turn it stops. You tell it to stop it turns. You ask it to take out the garbage it watches reruns of Firefly.
FozzieWash, You know what I always say: sometimes you're the windshield, sometimes you're the bug!
KermieMal, I never Know what the heck you're talking about.
FozzieWash, Hey, look! They're sending us free lumber!

TheRealMe looks about for Jadehand or Seryn, whom he had been told might want to talk to him.

Ebo takes seryn's hand and shakes it warmly.

"Nice to be meeting you, Seryn. I'd appreciate it greatly if you could wip up something presentable for me to wear to the wedding. This flight suit proably isn't the best formal wear ever. I'm sort of thinking of wearing a mens suit to the event, but cut so that it looks attractive on my girlish figure? Does that sound doable? Now if you'll excuse me, I have to go talk to TRM, its time I caught up on the commings and goings of the ship. Things have defiantly changed."

Ebo starts to move away but catches herself and turns back to Seryn, "Sorry about the D word, by the way."

Ebo steps up to TRM.

"I seem to be sort of lost as to the recent events of the ship, I was hoping you could give me report. Actually, I don't need to know too much about the recent events, I just need to know what everyone's present circumstances her. Actually, I just need to know exactly who is pregnant.

"Things have taken a much more serious turn around here, haven't they?"

Yes, Captain, things have gotten serious around here, but don't worry, we are long due for a period of relaxation and the resulting silliness that brings.

As for recent events, I direct you to the summaries that I write on my first post on each new thread. In short, some of our people had adventures on Boros, they were rescued, and we destroyed one Alliance Cruiser and sent another running. We lost our shuttle the General Grant, but have gained more, so that evens out.

As far as crew, consult my list in my latest Guide to the Sereni-Tree, linked at the top of this thread. Additions to that list should include BeautifulDisaster and Witchy. Significant absences include Static, TheGreyJedi, Lissa, Montanagirl, Elwoodmom (though she usually just pops in and leaves), and Malicious (though she visited for a short time just a few threads ago). Emma is still missing from her trading expedition.

As far as expecting parents, SoulOfSerenity and CallMeSerenity are expecting a baby, as is Seryn and also a widowed Yeti from that bunch we picked up on Black Diamond. Also, at some future time, SimonWho and ThatWeirdGirl will be the parents of PsychicRiver, but that's all time-twisted. Also, there are four newborns among the piffleponies down in the piffleranch in one of our cargo bays.

As far as shipboard romances go... well, I have not entirely been able to keep count, but I shall endeavor to compile a list for you.

Seryn looks around for Serenity, but decides to find her later, then wanders over to TRM and waits for him to finish speaking with the Captain.

"Hi, I need to speak to you. Fully aware that we have several days to go, but I wanted your initial thoughts on how to handle this trading expedition. I'm not familiar with Garrison.

And besides, my usual tactic of go in, shout a bit, threaten a bit, trade a bit then pinch a lot probably wont work.

Theres also another planet within travelling distance that any knowledge of would be appreciated. It looks likely to have the things I need..."

She spins round to address Ebo,

"...So I thought afterwards, we could go shopping!"

"A planet of that size I figure will have lot and lots of traders, including some pretty classy fabric shops, I thought we could take Serenity and let her run wild in there, I could get my business completed, and then after that its just a storm of wedding and baby talk.
I mean, I'll have to stay to take notes, but you can skip the baby talk.
And no worries about the D word, i'm just trying not to think about that part for as looooooong as possible."

*grin*

"Okay, maybe I'm not the one for the quiet life." Citizen said to himself as he wandered the Sereni-tree's airducts. "Is something going to happen soon or what."

He kicked through a grille and dropped into a small room filled with air recycling equipment and a number of small cargo containers branded with the Blue Sun logo.

"Now this is interesting."

“Well, Scorpion, you are welcome to take quarters in one of the Wings, but if you would prefer more solitude than that arrangement would offer, you could instead pick one of the smaller cargo bays as your home. I have an agreement with TheGreyJedi that Engineering is his domain, so until he is given up for lost, I do not plan to intrude upon his own comfortable isolation by assigning anyone else quarters there. Not even Bride4 or Needleseye have quarters there.

Something in cargo will be just fine. Let me know when GreyJedi does show up though, he does seem a most interesting fellow and you can also inform me if he is ever given up for dead as I wouldn't mind having his berth if it is no longer spoken for.

“Any tasks you wish to perform to benefit the Sereni-Tree will be greatly appreciated. Please inform Bride4 or myself beforehand of any significant modifications you want to make in the ship. From time to time, I may ask you to help in a particular area in which you have expertise, such as during the recent engineering emergency, but otherwise you may do as you please. The Sereni-Tree is neither a warship nor a pirate ship, and many of its crew have little experience of or desire to be in war. However, never again do I want us to be lacking in weaponry should we need to defend ourselves, from the Alliance or from anyone else.

"You will find that I am deeply appreciative of a moments rest, but soon I am off a'tinkering at what ever I can spot that needs repair, maintenance, or improvement. I don't plan on moving any walls around. I'll stay in the loop as far as any sizable modifications, barring severe emergency. As for the status of the Tree whether you consider her a pirate ship or not, the Alliance certainly does and will not rest till the have made a example of her. They will not forgive and they will not forget. Furthermore they are not alone, there are others who were very interested in the that last batch that came a runnin' from Boros. I know you don't want to hear it, but I figure the more information you have the more informed your choices will be."

Quote:

“You will find, I think, that I am a reasonable person, and suffer from no tyrannical ego problems to speak of. On the other hand, I have a strong desire to protect this ship and its crew. Please have safety considerations in mind during your activities. Oh, speaking of which, you may be interested to know that since your last visit I have installed big red buttons in many areas to shut down power in the case of dangerous malfunctions.”

"You don't need to tell me you are a reasonable man and any officer worth his pay cares about the ship and the men. I've seen you under pressure, you are a keeper. As far as safety goes, after many years, I know where the line needs to be drawn. I don't play stupid games that get people killed for no good reason, but when things get really hairy I know when to take necessary risks. Safety isn't a text book, it's using your head and I'm a survivor if nothing else. Circuit breakers are always welcome."

“Thank you, Scorpion. I appreciate that."

TheRealMe turns to Seryn. “Oh, Seryn, the planet Garrison was once a military outpost on the edge of Alliance space. As time passed the frontier pushed on, but Garrison retained its military industries and kept a rather respectable tech level. There are shipyards here, but nothing that builds Alliance military vessels. And the side-trip you want to take can probably be arranged, Seryn. Just let us know exactly where you need to go. We can loan you a shuttle or else take the whole ship there when we are done.

“Jadehand, perhaps we should check on that platinum. Perhaps get it loaded onto a shuttle.”

TheRealMe activates his com link. “Sparky, head to cargo bay C3. We will need you to transfer the platinum from down there up to the Hanger Bay.”

TheRealMe turns to Jadehand and Seryn. “Sparky can handle the platinum transfer, though one of you two can supervise him, if you like. We’ll need to prep a shuttle. Preferably, NOT one recently stolen from an Alliance Cruiser. I don’t think that the Bonaparte has been refueled yet. Take the Admiral Nelson. It should be ready to go, but I think its ammunition is only half loaded.”

TheRealMe sighs.

“Well, as you can probably tell, I really need to get a shower and a change of clothes to freshen up. I’ll return presently.”

TheRealMe heads off to his quarters in the West Wing. Checking his com-link again, he sees that Washie seems to have retired for the night. He doesn’t want to disturb her yet. Later. He’ll talk to her later. He gets to his quarters and enters.

“Hello!”

TheRealMe is surprised by a familiar voice. He turns. "Riverclone? How did you get in here? Are you haunting my place, now?"

Riverclone mumbles, distracted, “Code combination only had six digits. Simple transformation to even the odds. Won the lottery.”

Then, Riverclone walks up to TheRealMe and pokes him with her index finger.

“Ow!” TheRealMe is startled.

Riverclone smiles, impishly. “Not a ghost anymore!”

TheRealMe rubs his side. “But how did…”

“Magic!”

Suddenly, the Sereni-Tree seems to tremble, and everything seems odd for a second. From the speakers, Quincey’s voice blares:

”Attention! We have dropped out of hyperspace over Garrison. Orbits are clear. No Alliance military craft detected. Things look safe!”

TheRealMe chuckles to himself. "Huh! That can only mean trouble."
