It's an interesting point to note: the same (Berman) person who had to cancel the Fox series went on to Universal and greenlit the BDM.
She believed in it from the beginning but didn't have a choice. Joss knew this particular bit of cinemapolitics and so... here's our BDM

Checked Hoyts web and it still has Serenity playing in 5 theatres in Victoria (Melbourne?). Queensland and South Australia don't have anything listed, but ACT, VIC, NSW and WA all do.
That's very strange i checked the sits for hoyts and village and i couldn't find anything, i'll check again.
Edit:Seems i was wrong there is still some for hoyts but it's no longer at village.
