I am in Center Point which is near Cedar Rapids. I would be willing to travel anywhere in the state to meet with people for the premier!!!!!

I may be able to gather stronger forces through my role as a teacher. I already know of a small but powerful number of students who are Firefly fanatics. Of course, some people are scared of high schoolers, so if there's a general feeling of dread about that, I'll keep things under wraps. But my general feelings on the matter is that the more, the merrier.

Eriu- I too live in Des Moines and I think it would be a great idea if you try to get your students involved. More power in numbers. This movie needs all the help it can get, from those at any age.
Most likely the movie won't open nation-wide at midnight, but is there a possibility to get a midnight showing for just Des Moines? Anybody know how?

I'm thinking our best option would be to get together at the first showing the night of the 30th. A midnight showing would be great, but I really dont see it happening. At least not for the first movie. But for the sequels...I can see it!

The evening showing on the 30th is the best option for my wife and I, and probably anyone that we can muster. It also seems that Jordan Creek is our first choice. It may seem early to plan, but it is only about a month away (YAY) and it will be a BUSY month for me. So the earlier I can start planning the better. If anyone planning to attend in Des Moines wants to weigh in now on what they think will work best for them, I would like to hear it.

Eriu, I like to think that Browncoats of any age are welcome. The kids are alright. I think I was one once. In this case, the more the merrier, the movie needs everyone.

I also had one more question. Is there anyone who would be interested in getting together sooner than the movie. Maybe for coffee or refreshments of your choice somewhere. If so, let me know and we can try to work something out.

I'm not terribly active on this board but I'm from Iowa City and am trying to organize a midnight showing here in Coralville or Cedar Rapids. An excerpt from the official board...

Hey Koffee, I'm from Iowa City and am finding myself in a similar boat. I love the show, and my friends are big fans too, but we don't really have a community around here per se.
I've been calling area theaters, specifically the Coral Ridge 10 and the Wehrenberg in CR but they're both saying that they won't know what they're doing re: midnight showings until 2 weeks before hand. I'm sure if you'd call them too it'd help make up their minds. Coral Ridge is 319-625-2100 while the Wehrenberg is 319-393-8914.
Everyone I've personally converted is making their calls and I'm trying to get in touch with the campus wide SF group to recruit them to the cause as well. Hopefully if we all push our local theaters we'll be able to get some midnight showings here locally!

PS-if any out of towners want to make a call or two on our behalf I'm sure the added numbers will only help our cause. The theaters have the advantage here, but then again, they always do.

I'm rather a shoe in for Simon while my girlfriend will be going as Kaylee (could that be more appropriate?). Anyone in the area who wants to come into IC for a showing please give those theaters a call and/or drop me a line in this forum or at nolenmakoto@gmail.com

have gotten a couple friends interested in the show through the dvds. at least one is definately going to the movie with me. would be interested in joining a group going locally or in the ic/coralville area.

I don't think they deliver, but there is a PF Chang's just outside the theater practically. I'm sure you'd be able to make an order and then send someone over to pick it up or save your place in line or somesuch. There's also a Cheesecake Factory right there.
