I don't think there's any problem with repeat costumes. And don't forget the combat boots with the sundress for River.

I'm going to try to convince my friend Danielle to come as Saffron, cuz she's got the body and hair for it, and then I don't have to compete with her for looking like Kaylee.

If nothing else, your converts could sport t-shirts, like the Joss Whedon is My Master Now or some such.

Im from a little town in southern iowa called Centerville. I'm really liking the sounds of all this. Me and a friend I'd converted were thinking about most likely heading to Otummwa to see it if it didn't open up here, but if there are going to be enough browncoats at Jordan Creek in Des Moines, we'll be more than happy to drive the extra 45 minutes

So if everyone wants to do this, you can count us in one way or another!

Well, look, I run off to work for a few hours, and the thread's taking off!

One of my friends is dressing up as Jayne (hat and all), while another two are dressing up as Kaylee, Inara, and Wash. I'm going as River from "Safe."

I keep getting more and more excited about the BDM the more we talk about it, but I'm also starting to worry that the excitement won't be as high opening night as it will undoubtedly be at the midnight showing.

Opening day is just as good, right?

Does anyone know if there will be a midnight showing for the BDM for sure? I mean, as great a movie as we all think that it will be, I don't know that the theaters will see it as blockbuster/midnight screening material. At least not right away.

Either way, I think we ought to try to make a plan to go to a showing where as many of us can be there at once as is possible. A show of browncoat solidarity if you will.

There may not be midnight showings to consider. That could be a wait-and-see sorta question.

Lotsa costuming. That's good good good.

I was attempting to convince two friends and Firefly-converts to also dress for the event, saying that one could be an overly tall Badger. The other could pull off River, but would ultimately want to be Zoe. 'Course, costuming for Zoe or Mal are the expensive ones. I told her she should wear my Princess Leia costume as a joke, and then thought it would be even funnier if Leia were wearing a brown coat over it all.

Also, I agree with Lost Soul that if we're gathering a state's worth of Browncoats, should there be a choice between midnight showing and opening night, we pick the one with best possible attendance.

See, my problem with costuming is that I'm blonde. The only blonde (female) in Firefly was in Heart of Gold, methinks. I could pass for Saffron since my hair's shorter, but...well, I guess if I can't find a good costume for River, that's an option. :P

I'm thinking a wig, or just dye my hair. Temporary dye is useful stuff.

Friends and I are planning on promoting the BDM in our school newspaper's first issue; see if we can't get some more converts up to the premiere in Des Moines.

Is anyone able to attend the first matinee on Opening Day in Cedar Rapids? I'm a freelancer, so plan to take that day off, and start my movie viewing early.

Already have plans to meet with some of my local Nerd Herd in the evening (dinner & movie), but would like to hook up with anyone playing hooky or otherwise able to catch an early afternoon matinee.

'Spect I'll be havin' the need to gush rustic and all Firefly-y with some fellow fans, 'round about then!

When one of our Herd suggested I pre-buy our group's tickets, I agreed and offered to phone him as soon as I had the tickets in my hands. His face broke out into a huge smile!
