I really don't understand what the problem is. All he needs to do to have the tags free and clear is stop posting political stuff there and stop insulting me. Any post I've ever made in the tags since long before the site went down was either talking with Brenda about non-political things or telling Ted to keep politics and political cartoons out of the tags. I've never posted anything political there or insulting that wasn't reactionary to something he put there first.
Second never posted in the tags at all until the site went down, and now he can't seem to stop himself.
Ted seems to care about the tags with the possibility of people coming back if the Firefly reboot that may be announced Sunday ends up being a real thing, but instead of telling Second to cut the crap and keep politics out of the tags, he's choosing instead to continue attacking me.
I've already laid down the terms. I won't post in the tags again if they stop insulting me and they keep their politics in the RWED where it belongs. And neither of them are going to get the last word in the tags either.
I don't think Second cares at all either way, but Ted knows what needs to be done.

Had on Thursday and today two of the most Canadian things happen. One was the neurologist. We both apologized for the ecg. Him for not explaining the way he ordered it and me for not asking the why. 
Today it was at a local mall. They have doors that open when you show your hand to the sensor. Lady in a scooter wanted out and I wanted to go in. I told her to come out and she said no I should go in first. This went on for a minute when another lady with a can came along and said, "Stop arguing ladies." with a smile. Finally I went in and held the door for the lady in the scooter.

When you say "cord" you mean the HDMI cord?
If memory serves, you verified with the person/shop you bought this from that it had the HDMI output before you bought it, right?
It's possible that you're looking on the back and it's not actually on the back. A lot of TV's and Monitors have the HDMI outputs on the side of the monitor. Usually on the right side.
It's also possible that there is an upside-down "shelf" that is on the back of the monitor where you would plug the HDMI cord UP into it, parallel to the back of the monitor rather than sticking it straight in perpendicular to the back as well.
I'll see ya when you get back from work on Monday or Tuesday. If you still can't figure it out by then, please tell me the name of the company on the box and the model number. I should be able to look it up online with that info and tell you exactly where you need to put the HDMI cord.

Doing some painting today. I'm tired of laying around and sleeping most of the time. I think in the last 2 days I've gotten about 38 hours worth of sleep. And there comes a point where I think that doing nothing is actually doing me more harm than good even though I'm still recovering from whatever is going on with my lung.
My outer basement walls are split in half, with the bottom jutting out around 5" where the foundation is because of the studs and drywall on top of it, which leaves "shelves" along the outer wall. I put up that drywall in the room you can see from the 1st floor many years ago and put the finish paint on it maybe 2 or 3 years ago now. Even though I still need to do some work to make sure I won't flood again, I've managed to keep that drywall dry even in the 2 or 3 emergency flood situations I had since it was put up. The work I've done outside with landscaping and raising that concrete slab where the spigot is 5" on top of having gutters on the house should probably remediate most of the flooding issues except for when there is Noah's Ark flooding conditions like we had in May of 2020, and the work I intend to do this summer should eliminate the worry completely going forward.
2 years ago I brought down the nice trim from the rafters of my garage that I had pulled off 14 years ago, first thing, when I gutted the entire basement because of the mold and sanded them all down good. When I was out the other day running some errands I brought all of it in my basement on horses, and now I'm priming and painting it. I've got to be REALLY careful though because 2 of the 7 pieces are really long and even on a near 45 degree angle they barely fit in the room without scraping the finished walls. If it were warm and dry outside, it would have been a lot better to be doing it all out there. It should be okay as long as I'm mindful with it though.
I swore I wrote on the back where each piece went though, and unfortunately I didn't. Some of these pieces are near identical in size, so I can't screw that up when I'm putting them back into place. Some of them aren't even close to be ready to be installed because the rest of the basement would need to be finished first, but I figured I'd just paint all of them now and the ones I'm not using can be staged somewhere in my garage high up and wrapped in plastic so they don't get messed up before installation.
Feels good to be working again even if I'm not feeling close to 100%. This is light work so it's no big deal. I'm just glad I sanded all of that down already because that's the tough part, and I don't need that crap in my lungs right now.

Damn primer don't want to dry in the cold basement. Figured for sure I'd have all of that stuff painted before sunset and maybe even get some of it back in place where it belongs today.
I used to have ceiling fans down there, but they both had saggy fins because of the humidity and water damage when I moved in and would have needed to be replaced if I hadn't already decided it wasn't worth it to put fans back up there because they were dangerous.
I'm short enough where it wouldn't have mattered none for me, but I could see my dad or brother or a few of my 6 foot plus friends going down in the basement when the fans were running and not paying attention as the blades took a chunk out of their foreheads.
Probably too dusty down there for fans right now anyhow, and I wouldn't want to kick up dust on top of the painted surfaces.
I don't know why I always do this. I haven't done much work on the house in a long time, but now that I am I'll probably be up half the night until the painting is finished instead of finishing it tomorrow. Then I'll sleep in half the day and get nothing done tomorrow.
Oh well...

I stayed up until after 1AM and I finished what I was working on that day. Did a whole lot of stuff yesterday too and got all the accent trim I've been wanting to do for years now on the starwell going up to the 2nd floor and down into the basement.
Today I sanded down the old threshold that was between the kitchen and living room floors as well as the last piece of floor trim at the bottom of the lone cabinet on the other side of the stove. I've got to prime and paint that piece of trim before I install it, and I'm going to stain and poly the threshold. I don't want to paint the threshold white because people will be walking on it.
I think I'm probably done for the day though. I put in about 22 hours of work over the last two days and I'm going to take it easy. Got that chest doctor appointment tomorrow, so I probably won't do much but run errands after it's over.
It's ice cold in the basement again today after we had some warmer temps. High today and tomorrow is only 27 degrees, but then it warms up a bit again on Wednesday. I really don't feel like spending any more time in the basement working while it's this cold anyhow.

Sorry, I do and mean the HMDI connector. Took it back to where I bought with the help of my boss's husband and the guy at the counter explained to her HUSBAND, because he was a MAN that I needed another piece. Something that converts male to female? I know what I am looking for anyways.

Nothing too intense, but just putting some long-awaited final touches on things like thresholds for the coat closet, pantry and the door leading up to the attic, as well as putting some nice L-shaped corner pieces to really make the transitions between the paint colors pop with that nice high-gloss white trim.

To add to the troubles, the "finished" product of the walls/ceilings were nowhere near perfect angles in the first place, so I had to take a few shortcuts that will need to be fixed later. It's going to require a bit of wood filler along with the standard caulking I'd do, and I have quite a few brad nail holes that need to be filled in before a final paint job.
Right now it's like a Monet painting. Looks great from far, but it's far from great.
It will be damn near perfect when I'm finished with it though.
So your computer didn't have an HDMI then? Was it a "Display Port" then? I wasn't even aware of that type of connection until I got those cheap computers a few years ago from a hospital, and all those HP computers/laptops had Display Port out. I needed to buy adapters for all of them.
If you use that cable to carry the sound to the monitor, you'll have to make sure the adapters that you buy carry the sound too. Hopefully the computer store guy steered you in the right direction there. No worries if he didn't though... If you hook everything up and you have no sound, at least you'll have a working computer. Let me know if this happens and I can direct you to the proper adapter that will carry the sound signals as well.

I ran some errands today after my chest doctor appointment, and one of the places I went was my old job where they eliminated the overnight shift back in 2019.
When I started there, I was making $10.50/hr which included a $1.00/hr overnight premium. By the time I left in 2019, I was only making $11.72/hr. Team leads were only paid $14.50/hr (or $15.50/hr overnight).
I just found out today from the cashier that the starting pay there now is $18.00/hr. for a regular employee and they brought back the night shift.
I think I might know where I'm going to put in my first job application when I'm ready to go back to work. I loved that job, and even at $11.72/hr I would have been happy working there until I retired.
Finding out that the starting pay is nearly double what it was only 9 years ago makes the higher prices I've been paying for nearly everything not sound so bad at all. At $18 or $19/hr, I'd be saving far more money than I was able to save making only $11.72/hr despite the higher prices thanks to Joe Biden*'s inflation.

I spent the whole day goofing off and finalizing the plant list for the front yard. Of course, I can't actually DO anything about it for at least the next 10 days bc, if the forecast holds, the lowest high temp is expected to be 87, well above my safe limit. But I'm happy with the list, gonna stroll the front and mark the sizes of the mature plants and make sure I have those plants in the right place.
Wish I could get out and do something in the back, too. Yesterday I counted a dozen butterflies in the back yard. A dozen! And with all of the flowers there, none are accessible to butterflies. I have some yarrow in pots just waiting to be planted, but that would involve too much digging up Bermuda grass and laying in root barrier, and that's no bueno for me in this heat.
Spring! Come back! We miss you!
Still, I'm very happy with the list. BTW here is a picture of my favorite landscape and weather
Front yard can't possibly look like that, but I really like it. It's just inviting a stroll, isn't it?

I am still figuring out what all the ports and such are called. All I know is I need GVA or VGA adapter. One has the blue screw on end and the other will fit onto the HMDI cord for the monitor.

Well, the old pineapple express is dumping a ton of rain on my area. There are minor flood watches here and into Washington state. As long as the Nooksack river doesn't go over it's banks the Sumas prairie should be okay.
Sumas is all reclaimed land. Bout 100 years ago it was a lake. Some people think it should go back to that. Except there are businesses and farmers in the area.

You should really think about getting a new desktop Brenda. If it's got nothing but VGA, that's got to be a video card and the motherboard doesn't even have on-board video. That thing is probably from like 2010 or older then, huh?
Even my video cards from back then had VGA and DVI outputs on them.
I don't think she needs the VGA + Audio adapter. (I didn't even know they made them until I just looked now, to be honest). VGA is strictly a video signal. A VGA+Audio adapter has an additional 3.5mm jack that you plug into the audio output, or a USB jack that I assume you would plug into one of the standard USB outputs (and burn a valuable one up since Brenda probably doesn't have more than 2 or 3 of them).
I'm assuming now that Brenda has separate computer speakers and she plugged those into the audio jack already and wasn't using the audio through her monitor.
I'm using a regular VGA to HDMI on my dual monitor setup because one of my monitors is a very old flat screen TV that didn't have any HDMI inputs, and my video card has two HDMI outs on it.

Brenda, I may not have asked you this before, but do you have computer speakers that plug into the back of your computer with a smaller wire that has and end that looks like the end of headphones that you'd plug into a walkman or mp3 player?
I didn't think to ask that before because I didn't realize how old your computer was. And now I'm assuming this is how you get your audio on that PC.
If the answer is yes, you don't need to worry about getting a VGA adapter with audio because you're getting your audio directly from the soundcard or motherboard straight to your computer speakers.

I think I got another cold when I went out to the doctor's and to run errands the other day. I don't think I'm relapsing on the lung front, but I've got a lot of nose-leaking and phlegm coming up. All clear though... nothing that looks or tastes nasty like I was hacking up before I got help.
So I haven't been doing much the last few days besides keeping bundled up and getting a lot of sleep. Woke up again about 6 hours ago though and got a lot more work done on my computer project, and decided to take a break from that and I stained that kitchen/livingroom threshold and primed/painted that one final finishing touch quarter-round piece for the outside cabinet.
I'll be putting about 3 coats of wipe-on poly on that threshold tomorrow so that won't be installed until the weekend, but I'll be able to get that final piece of cabinet trim up tomorrow.
Not tired at all right now, so despite the hour I think I'm going to put a few more hours into the computer project before I go back to sleep. I got around 750 things done on it today already, which is about half of what I needed to wrap up another huge portion of the work before I move on to the next thing. I would have had all that done weeks ago if it weren't for getting as sick as I did. I can't believe how long ago I started this large part of the project without finishing it. It's just one of those things that was so huge that it was daunting from the start. And looking back to the starting date and seeing that it's still not finished is really getting to me.
If I don't finish it tonight, I should be able to finish it tomorrow. We're finally going to have some decent weather tomorrow, so I'll probably be going out to my garage and seeing what else I have out there to work on and bring it back in the house. I'll probably also take my throw rugs and entryway mats and beat the dust out of them outside and sweep/vac up the floors and get a little spring cleaning done while I'm at it. When my old man comes back from his trip, I want the place to be really clean while I'm showing off all the new work that I've recently done.
We're not done with winter yet and still have some cold days ahead of us, but if I get all that inside while it's warm this weekend and get things staged, I should have plenty of stuff to work on. At least it looks like we're done with days in the 20's and 30's now.

Still at the library and got the adapter yesterday afternoon. Boss's husband called me to see if I had found it. Said I did and the place was holding it for me. He was talking for a minute when I said a ride would be great. He was calling from the local mall and so he came over and got me. I got the adapter and hooked it up. Tried it and nothing happened. Went back to ask about a menu that comes up. He said use the arrow keys.
But yeah it looks like again I will have to bit the bullet. Place I got the adapter said $700 CAD for monitor and drive. Sorry old lady here. But I don't want the whole set up as I already laid out $200 CAD on the monitor. Also don't need anything for gaming. Arrgghh! Always a production.

Man... This is why I wish you had a backup laptop so we could communicate better, Brenda. Maybe even figure out a time where we could actively talk back and forth while you were actively trying to get the desktop running. It's still not ideal back in forth here in the garden or the tags, but only once per day volleys makes me feel pretty useless trying to help you sort out this issue.

I still think your computer is fine, even though it's ancient, so I'm not sure why the adapter didn't solve your problem. Is the computer starting (do you see any lights, hear the drive and fans start up)?

They have a new batch of refurbished computer inventory every week. Last week they had a refurbished computer under $100 USD that would have been fine for your needs. The cheapest they've got right now is $149.99 USD, but that's still way cheaper than $700 Canadian, and it would be quite an upgrade from your current desktop.

You really don't need to buy a new full-priced computer for your needs. If your local shop doesn't have used computers and you can't find one that sells used goods, Woot/Amazon really is a great way to go. Personally, I've used Craigslist to buy mine, but I wouldn't recommend that to you because you have to go and meet up with a random stranger and that could be dangerous.

CAD in this instance means Canadian Dollar.
Monitors are plug and play. Brenda shouldn't need any drivers. That's why I'm somewhat confused that the adapter didn't work for her. I think what she was seeing on screen wasn't any signal from the computer and was probably the monitor software looking for a signal.
It is possible that the monitor has several inputs and maybe Brenda needs to point the monitor to the correct input to get the signal from the computer. That's why I was asking her if she could confirm that the computer itself was still firing up (with the hard drive/fans making noise, and any LED lights on the front turning on).
The last computer monitor I bought was around 20 years ago now and only had one input. Any monitors I've used since were things other people were throwing out that only had one input too. Currently, I'm using two TVs as monitors on my computer, and I know that they won't work unless the correct input is pointed to.
I just did a google search "do modern computer monitors have multiple inputs" and the answer was yes. (And at the very high price of $200 CAD, I would damn well expect her monitor to have these features... I was just at Costco the other day and they were selling VISIO TVs that are quite a bit larger than my current TV/monitors for less than $100 USD and that wasn't even a sale price).

I'm thinking that this is most likely the problem now. Brenda just needs to read the instruction manual and figure out how to change the input on the monitor. It would probably be easier if it came with a remote control, but it probably didn't. Having looked this up, it could be what you got is a "passive adapter" when what you might need is an "active adapter"
A passive adapter literally just converts the shape of the connector from VGA to HDMI without doing anything to the signal.
The problem is, your VGA computer is putting out what's called an analog signal, similar to the signal from a vinyl record. But the monitor is expecting a digitized signal, like a DVD or CD. Active adapters convert the VGA (analog) signal to a digital one that the monitor is capable of displaying.

Well... like I eventually got around to saying above, I think it's most likely just the monitor needing to point to the correct input. I would hope that the people who sold her the adapter would have known about any of those compatibility issues. I can just speak from experience that I've never had any problems with my VGA/HDMI adapters over the years, and I never even knew that there was possible conflicts with them. In fact, I don't even remember when I would have gotten them since I don't remember ever buying these adapters. Probably something that I just took from somebody else who was just throwing away old computer junk they didn't need anymore, and I know I didn't get them after I got sober, so they're already at least 10 years old if not many years older.
I think all Brenda needs to do is look at the instructions and figure out how to get into the monitor's setup menu and point the monitor to look for the signal from the HDMI input she's got it plugged into.

I finished that part of my computer project just a few hours ago. That's a major milestone for me. Though I don't currently intend to add much more new stuff to it, there is some smaller things that still need to be added. This last bit was by far the largest of the work I was looking to do right now. So there's still a few smaller additions I plan on making and most of the rest of it is just going back and making some edits here and there and making sure everything is up to my standards. Not really close to finishing it because of my perfectionism, but it's really nice to finally get it to the point where the main "skeleton" is fleshed out anyhow.
In the meantime I did some of the spring cleaning I wanted to get done, and I got three coats of poly on that kitchen/living room threshold so it should be ready to install tomorrow afternoon. I also got that last piece of cabinet trim up. That was a little trickier than I'd hoped it would be because the bottom of the cabinet was a little blown out, but I made it work. Just one more thing to touch-up when I get to that point. I'm not going to spend any time doing wood filler, caulk, touch-up paint finishing touches now and I'm instead going to be getting a lot of other things done around the house and then I'll do all of that at once.
I think the next thing I'll do is get the windowsill and trim in the bathroom cleaned up and scuff sanded so I can prime it, and take out the existing floor trim. I haven't decided if that's going to be painted and put back up, or if I'm going to get matching baseboard to what most of the rest of the house looks like yet because the baseboard matches the size of the trim on that window, and I can't use the larger base/trim I put up everywhere else on that window because it's too close to the shower. It might look better if I use the smaller baseboard in the bathroom so it doesn't look out of place while in the room itself, compared to the rest of the house.
I've also got a beautiful medicine cabinet and over the toilet cabinet that I need to sand down and paint, but I'm going to wait until the weather is a bit nicer and I can sand all of that down outside so I'm not breathing it in and getting that dust all over the inside of my house.
My old man is pushing really hard for me to get a new vanity that is 4"-6" wider than the one I've currently got because there would be room for that much if I put the trash bin on the other side of the toilet between the toilet and the wall, and since both of my bathrooms are small he thinks it would be a real selling point to maximize that space. I was just going to sand it down and paint it like I did all the kitchen cabinets (and I still have enough matching oil rubbed bronze hardware since I'd planned on doing that years ago). I dunno yet...
It will be nice when I finally get around to buying a REAL toilet though. I've been sitting on that bottom-shelf piece of shit toilet for 14 years now. I'm not a tall man, but even when I sit my ass down on it, it feels like a long way down before I hit it. My brother can't stand it, and it was really a pain for my grandma to use and for my aunt to get her back up off of it when she was done.
I've got a TON of really nice tiles out in my garage that I got from my friend when he was clearing out his parent's garage after his dad died. When I rip up the crappy vinyl tile in the bath and remove the toilet, I'm going to have to remove some of the sub-floor and replace it since it's obviously damaged underneath. But I should be able to get that floor really looking nice with those tiles. I just have to decide which pattern I want to go with, since I've got about 8 different choices with enough tiles to do the job.

When I set up the VGA and turned on the monitor a menu came up showing HMDI and VGA. The VGA was highlighted blue but my hand decided to shake and I hit the left side of the mouse enlarging it. So, I am now trying to get it back to the right size and see if it does work with my computer.
I can get a refurbished laptop at a local place. Would have to check prices.

You're going to want to set it to HDMI on the monitor, Brenda. That may seem counterintuitive to you because you just bought a VGA adapter, but the monitor is only concerned which input you've put in the monitor itself.
You've put the VGA adapter into the computer video output, but then you plugged the HDMI cable into that adapter and the HDMI cable is going into an HDMI input on your monitor. (There may be more than one HDMI input on that monitor, so you will have to make sure it's pointing to the right one if there is).
And actually, you've just given me some good news here. If for some reason there's something wrong with that adapter and we can't get it working that way, it sounds like you have a VGA input on your monitor. So if you still have a straight up VGA to VGA cable from your old setup, you can just use that instead of the HDMI with the VGA adapter. Just plug in the VGA to the back of your computer, and put the other end of the cable into the VGA input on your new monitor and you should be good.

That's really expensive, Brenda. Maybe computer prices in Canada are different, but I think they're taking you for a ride there and that's kind of pissing me off. New monitors are really cheap now, and a refurbished computer that would more than suit your needs are going for anywhere from $100 to $200 USD and shouldn't cost you more than about $275 CAD max. Honestly, if you were able to buy it online, you wouldn't have paid much more than $350 CAD max for a refurbished desktop and a brand new monitor combined.

If this is the case, that means that your computer is working, it's sending the signal to the monitor and the HDMI cable/VGA adapter is working and your monitor is looking at the right input. We just need to go in

Did more than I thought I'd do today, but it was mostly cleaning...
I got that threshold installed between the kitchen and living room floors finally. Looks awesome.
I was only intending to take my throw rugs and welcome mats outside for a good beat-down so I could clean the kitchen floor, but it turned into a lot more than that.
My garage has looked like a bomb hit it for a while now between not putting things where they belong when I'm done with them, leaving sawdust all over the place after I cut stuff and bringing in my friend's hoard into my home. Not exactly to the point where I could barely fit my car in there this time, but that might only be because this car is smaller than my old one.
I filled two large bins of trash while I was out there today. Nowhere near done, but I put a huge dent in the work that needed to be done. A lot of the stuff my friend gave me I just threw right into the trash. I'm sure some of it could have gone to goodwill, but I don't even want to bother with it. There's some good things that I still want to go through, but most of that stuff I took just so he wouldn't change his mind and keep it.
Swept out my shed before I put all the tools that belong in it back. Those were scattered all over the garage after I did the landscaping last year. Picked up most of the large limbs that had fallen from the trees with all the wind we've been having and cut them down to fit them in the bins.
Then I finally got around to vacuuming and cleaning the back porch for the first time since I remodeled it. It had a pretty thick coating of dust/dirt everywhere. I'm hoping now that I have the river rock down and there really isn't any exposed dirt anywhere anymore that I don't get that type of coverage back there anymore.
I also wiped down all of my bottom kitchen cabinets for the first time since I remodeled those too. That high-gloss paint really holds up well. They look as good as they did when I finished them years ago.
My old man is probably going to think I repainted a bunch of stuff the next time he stops by since everything is nice and shiny again.
Put the basement trim that I put finish paint on, but am not close to ready to use back up in the garage rafters until the basement is finished. They may be there for quite a while now. I knew I was nowhere near ready to use them yet, but I brought all 7 pieces in to do them all at once even though I was only going to use 3 of them in the finished room.
I also brought in some more trim and a few bi-fold doors that need to be refinished. I'll probably wait until the weather is nice on those doors and sand them outside though. I just needed them down from where they were to make room for things going back there and I didn't want to bury them before I needed to get to them.
I also found the two really nice pieces of new trim that a neighbor gave me years ago. I forgot I had those. I'll probably use those for the baseboard in the bathroom and just throw the old stuff out when I remove it now. I don't like the way that they did the piece of trim beneath the windowsill in the bathroom, so I can just use one of the larger pieces they used as baseboard trim to redo that, and then throw the rest of it out.
I think that's probably more physical work than I've done in one day since I finished working on the landscaping last fall.
It was a good day.

You're going to want to set it to HDMI on the monitor, Brenda. That may seem counterintuitive to you because you just bought a VGA adapter, but the monitor is only concerned which input you've put in the monitor itself.
You've put the VGA adapter into the computer video output, but then you plugged the HDMI cable into that adapter and the HDMI cable is going into an HDMI input on your monitor. (There may be more than one HDMI input on that monitor, so you will have to make sure it's pointing to the right one if there is).
And actually, you've just given me some good news here. If for some reason there's something wrong with that adapter and we can't get it working that way, it sounds like you have a VGA input on your monitor. So if you still have a straight up VGA to VGA cable from your old setup, you can just use that instead of the HDMI with the VGA adapter. Just plug in the VGA to the back of your computer, and put the other end of the cable into the VGA input on your new monitor and you should be good.Quote:

That's really expensive, Brenda. Maybe computer prices in Canada are different, but I think they're taking you for a ride there and that's kind of pissing me off. New monitors are really cheap now, and a refurbished computer that would more than suit your needs are going for anywhere from $100 to $200 USD and shouldn't cost you more than about $275 CAD max. Honestly, if you were able to buy it online, you wouldn't have paid much more than $350 CAD max for a refurbished desktop and a brand new monitor combined.

I'm trying to determine if this is the case and the resolution was possibly out-of-whack because of the HDMI with the VGA adapter. If that's the case, the display settings resolution needs to be changed using the ehow link I sent you. But before we do that...

Another cold crappy day around here...
Getting some stuff done though.
I pulled out the baseboard out of the bathroom and pulled the nails out of it. I really think that I'm going to throw most of that out and just use the largest part of it to make a new piece of trim that is larger than what they currently have under the windowsill on the window. Even though this trim is thinner than the stuff I used in the rest of the house because it has to be with the shower as close to the window as it is, I want the ends of this piece under the window to extend to the ends of the trim above the windowsill like I did everywhere else in the house. I don't like it when they only make that piece wide enough to reach the inside of the trim above the windowsill. I think that looks tacky.
I've got those two brand new, very long pieces of window/door trim that my neighbor gave me that I may use for the baseboard instead. Either that, or I'll just buy a 10ft length of proper wide baseboard like I have in the rest of the house and do it that way. I'm not going to use that old window/door trim on the baseboard again either way.
I've also ripped off the surface (print) of the wallpaper banner I glued on many, many years ago. Fortunately I was able to get all of it off despite how much it wanted to fight me on that. It will make it really easy to get the paper and the sticky part off now with just a wet sponge and some time.
Got some chipping on the paint on the ceiling around the walls and at the top of the walls. I'm going to scrape all of the loose stuff off before priming everything and sealing it in and get that all ready for some DAP to fill it in. I'm going to pull that piece of trim off the bottom of the window and put the "new" piece I make from the floor baseboard beneath it after I sand down the sill and the rest of the trim. I'm also going to beat all the nails under the surface of the trim with a punch. This was an oldschool job and they didn't use brad nails... it was done with real nails that have a fairly large head to them and I don't want them showing up like that under my paint job.
Not sure what I'm going to do in the bathroom right after that though. I have to decide how crazy I want to get with electricity in there. Right now I only have one duplex outlet next to the light switch for the vanity. I know for sure I want to add at least one or two more outlets in there, and ideally I'll be busting down some drywall in the ceiling so I can install a proper exhaust fan going out the house. I know that some of the problems with the ceiling were because they painted the ceiling with a glossy paint, but if I have an exhaust fan installed that will no longer be an issue. Maybe I'll get really crazy with the ceiling and I'll put in a light above the bath too. This house was pretty old and they didn't do nice things like this back then.
I picked the right day to be doing all of this. Despite how cold it is outside and in my house in general, that bathroom gets super toasty with the door closed and the heat blowing in. It was real fun getting that heat blowing right in my face and drying out my eyes while I was pulling that border down...

I got the border wallpaper down before I wrapped up for the day. Cool little trick my friend's dad taught me years ago was if you were careful with peeling the top off, all you had to do was put some warm water on the paper with a sponge and let it sit for a minute and you can scrape it all right off. You get a feel for how much water to keep in the sponge and the right pressure to apply so you get enough on the wall but you don't make a huge mess down the walls and on the floor too. If you don't have enough water on it though, the glue won't let lose and you'll be scraping pretty hard on those dry spots unless you hit it again.
If you rip that design top layer off like you were 5 years old, ripping into a present on Christmas morning, you're going to have a much tougher time getting the rest of it off without a steamer or a lot of patience with the sponge and water. I forgot how easy it was when you do it right. I got the few nasty water buildup spots that turned a yellowish brown off the ceiling (a guy I know told me that was happening because they painted the ceiling with a semi-gloss instead of flat paint). Everything will need a good washdown after I'm done patching and sanding, but just getting the worst of it all cleaned up while I was already up there getting the bulk of the wallpaper glue residue off the walls made sense to me.
I also had to glue the top of the right side of the window trim back to the wall and hit it with a few brad nails. The sill was a little loose so I got that in nice and tight again too. It's all scuff sanded and ready to prime. I just have to cut that bottom piece from the old baseboard and sand it down so I can get it back up there. Oh right... I've also got to get a scraper and very carefully scrape stray sloppy caulk off the vinyl window too. That really wasn't too much of a problem on most of the other windows in the house, but they were extra sloppy with this job. Maybe they were a little wobbly from standing on the step stool and toilet seat at the same time...?
I've got a pretty warm day or two coming this week. Maybe I get lucky and it isn't raining the whole time and I can get a few big things outside on the horses to sand them down without getting that all over my basement and in my lungs. I've got a few closet bi-fold doors and a over the toilet storage cabinet and medicine cabinet that need a good sanding.
One of my bathrooms have been gutted since forever, and the one I've got working has always looked like crap. Pure DIY-don't-give-a-crap work done by Uncle Bob and nobody told him to get his drunk ass back here to do it right. The vanity lights, medicine cabinet and vanity don't line up at all. They didn't even get two of them paired up right. I know I'm a perfectionist, but we're talking a few inches here and not just a couple of millimeters.
The medicine cabinet is cheap metal crap in the wall with a basic mirror on the front, the vanity lights are an out-of-style brass color metal that you just screw lights right into the face of it. It's all garbage and doesn't even match. I think what happened with the lineup is that they didn't have any idea where the studs were when they already did the lights and the vanity and they realized that they had to move that box way to the side to fit it with in the existing studs. I guess it's better than them trying to cut away the studs. I don't believe this is a load bearing wall, but with some of the things I've seen behind the walls, it wouldn't surprise me if they tried something like that and the house just caved in on them. The light fixture doesn't even line up with the vanity either. That's just bad lazy work there. You've got plenty of play with the electric and there's no excuse for not centering the vanity light over the vanity.

It is good news. Finally. There was one other piece with a USB on it and that had to go into my computer as well and then viola. The monitor came on and I got on Face Book as I had some explaining to do. Clean out my email some that had gotten backed up.

Oh.. Okay. Nice. I guess you got the adapter with the USB for sound then? I had no idea you actually needed to plug that USB in and would have assumed that the only thing that wouldn't work is the sound if you didn't. I was never going to suggest that to you, so glad you tried it on your own.
It sounds like maybe your new monitor doesn't actually have VGA input from what you said before that, so I'm glad this worked.

Even though it worked out, which I had a good feeling that it eventually would have with your old computer, now would be the time to start thinking about getting a used laptop as a backup, Brenda.
I know that you don't buy anything off Amazon, but I thought that was because you didn't have credit cards. It sounds like maybe you're ideologically opposed to buying anything from them maybe? I understand if that's the case, but just letting you know that you're going to probably spend quite a bit more for one if you don't use them. I was just suggesting that maybe you could have your boss or her husband order one for you, and you could pay them back either through your work or with cash money.
Don't buy it from that shop. I'm sure the guy is helpful, but with the prices you've quoted so far I think he's probably taking advantage of people who don't know better too. It's skeezy, but with the high rents and taxes I'm sure it's part of the job, frankly. Whatever people need to do to keep the lights on right now.
You should have bought yourself quite a bit of time now that you're up and running. Maybe you could bring it up that you're looking to buy a used backup laptop while you're out playing Mahjong or things like that and somebody might have an extra old one lying around they wouldn't mind selling to you for cheap. I've lucked into quite a few good buys over the year by just letting people I knew know that I was in the market for something.
I can't emphasize enough how nice it is to have at least one fallback way of getting on the internet when your main avenue is blocked off. You know that now and it's fresh in your mind, so I wanted to bring it up again.
Just make sure it has an HDMI-out port when you buy one. If it's new enough to have that, it should have everything else you need too. And if your desktop ever went down, you'd be able to plug the laptop into your nice new monitor with the HDMI cable and you could even plug your keyboard and mouse into it as well and use it like a backup desktop until you got a new one.
And now that you've been through all of this, now might be a nice time to think about other things you may have had on the computer that could be lost today if it actually was broken and you hadn't backed stuff up onto your thumbdrives.
There actually is ways to pull off data from old computer drives after a computer breaks, but unfortunately I think that level of work would be way beyond our current computer knowledge level and I don't think I'd ever be able to walk you through it here while writing things back and forth, so it would be best if you made sure that everything you could ever think you'd want to be able to use or see on that computer gets a good backup or two.

Boy... Having a rough couple of days with the computer project over here. Nothing too serious, but having spent so much time with it, the fact that the workflow has evolved so much never really hit me in the face until the other day when I went back to some initial work I'd been doing several years ago now and how something I had written off as finished almost 2 years ago really needed a lot of updates and maintenance. Making things worse is that a lot of this stuff has been backed up in 2 or 3 other places and when I make a change somewhere I need to make a note that it needs to be changed everywhere else before it gets scratched back off the list of things to do.
I'm almost done with it now, but that's a few days worth of work that I hadn't ever planned on. I think part of me in the back of my mind always knew and subconsciously I was always going to end back up here doing this at some point. I just had no idea how much needed to be fixed to bring it up to the same standard as everything else. I took a particular amount of pride off of this one big thing, so I couldn't possibly ignore the fact it needed some upgrades now.
Fortunately, from my notes I can see that only one other part may need some of this additional maintenance as well, and the new ways of doing things had been established for sure right after that. From a cursory glance the other day, it looks as though I had pretty much adapted to all the new changes while doing this 2nd part, but I just hadn't been documenting everything like I did going forward. I'll probably spend a bit of time just verifying things are right and properly documenting everything. I always take advantage of these types of scenarios and use them to double as another round of Quality Control when they occur. The average person would be really hard pressed to find any errors at all with just casual use, but that's because I've done so much work behind the scenes cleaning everything up and making sure none of the links in the chain are broken, and taking every opportunity that comes my way like this to also do more spot check verifications on things I've long considered finished. It's quite rare at this point, but when I am forced to go back and verify stuff like this, I do find a little bug that slipped through the cracks every once in a while, and now that's just one less thing for some random person to bitch about one day.
Got some creative upgrades I need to do as well. My skills have evolved quite a bit since a few years ago, and what was once the best of the best is now looking outdated and needs some tweaks.

Well, I have speakers and that wire goes into my computer. There is another connector with two plugs on it. Not sure where it would go but I don't need it. There is a spot on the monitor for head phones which I won't use. My hearing is bad enough without doing any more damage to it.
Honestly, I don't know. There is a spot on the monitor that does say VGA and has the same blue plug in that is on the back of my computer. And I don't think you can reverse wire everything and I wouldn't want to try.
My problem is the Zoom feature. You Tube videos look strange because the monitor has a 27 inch screen as the older one was 25 inches. So things are stretched out.
And I can't move it much up or down because the print looks weird.So am I.
The other monitor died before I could warn anyone like on Face Book. I scared some people. I was off line for a month except for the library and that didn't cut it. I depend on this thing for doctor's appointments and of course my writing.

You should have bought yourself quite a bit of time now that you're up and running. Maybe you could bring it up that you're looking to buy a used backup laptop while you're out playing Mahjong or things like that and somebody might have an extra old one lying around they wouldn't mind selling to you for cheap. I've lucked into quite a few good buys over the year by just letting people I knew know that I was in the market for something.
I can't emphasize enough how nice it is to have at least one fallback way of getting on the internet when your main avenue is blocked off. You know that now and it's fresh in your mind, so I wanted to bring it up again.
Just make sure it has an HDMI-out port when you buy one. If it's new enough to have that, it should have everything else you need too. And if your desktop ever went down, you'd be able to plug the laptop into your nice new monitor with the HDMI cable and you could even plug your keyboard and mouse into it as well and use it like a backup desktop until you got a new one.
And now that you've been through all of this, now might be a nice time to think about other things you may have had on the computer that could be lost today if it actually was broken and you hadn't backed stuff up onto your thumbdrives.
There actually is ways to pull off data from old computer drives after a computer breaks, but unfortunately I think that level of work would be way beyond our current computer knowledge level and I don't think I'd ever be able to walk you through it here while writing things back and forth, so it would be best if you made sure that everything you could ever think you'd want to be able to use or see on that computer gets a good backup or two.

Like I said I have been thinking about that more since this episode.
I'm not sure why I don't like Amazon outside of the fact I don't have a credit card. But I have heard a lot of stories about things getting ruined and delivered to the wrong address. Had that happen. Fed Ex or something delivered something to my door and I had to take it down to the manager's office. I can ask and see what they say. It's all I can do.

Sound comes through the speakers but on the old monitor I had to set it up to use the speakers this one I didn't.
I've had the speakers since I got this after I discovered that I had to turn on the sound with the monitor.
No worries on the curious thing. Also new monitors are set up for gaming or probably making YouTube videos and such.

It's not bad and it may straighten itself out. I have noticed when I play cards on her some are fine and some are stretched out but nothing serious. Yeah... At $200 CAD I bet that monitor has a whole host of things available in the options menus that you're never going to use. It's capable of showing higher definition than your computer could ever put out. If you had a BluRay player and hooked that up to the monitor, you'd probably be blown away by how good the picture looks on that screen.
My curiosity here is really about that VGA-to-HDMI adapter with the USB (and possibly some other) connection(s). I've never seen one before.

Sorry SIX. I was in a bit of rush when I posted all of this. I get sound through my speakers. When I say this I mean the computer again sorry. Just my short hand for thinking and of course I think everyone will understand.
It probably does even though I told the salesman that I don't game or anything like that. I won't ever look at those options either. Don't need them.

I don't know if it will help or not, Brenda, but in each individual app you can hold down the CTRL button (bottom left of keyboard) and press the "+" or "-" key (toward the top right of the keyboard), and it will make the text and other objects bigger or smaller.
That might help with your size issues.

Well, just checking in and seeing how things are going. SIX, I'm glad you were able to help BRENDA sort out her monitor issues, and BRENDA I'm so happy for you that the monitor is working, even if imperfectly. You can't do anything about the rain, but at least you could replace your monitor!
I also spend a lot of time online, mostly researching for various health issues and projects. Lately, landscaping ideas and plant selection. I've actually been able to spend time in the garden bc the scorching heatwave finally died down. It's still warmer than average but at least workable, so I've made good progress on the backyard cleanup.
Today and tomorrow, tho, indoor work. It's over my safe temp and I gotta get tax papers together, finish the books for 2025, and look into getting a seat reupholstered. Stuff I hate. Ugh.

Cold as hell around here again. Warms up tomorrow for a few days and then back into the cold before it looks like it will finally stabilize. Been a rainy and windy spring so far. At least there's been no damage on my property that I could tell so far. Just some big limbs that I had to clean up. My buddy's mom's entire backyard fence broke and fell over the other day. I'll be out there helping him figure out a way to get it back up until they spring for a new one. It was pretty old though. It's the same fence that was up when we were having parties back there more than half a lifetime ago.
The cold has been knocking the wind out of my sales on the house work. I was all revved up about it, but I can't really get to much of what I want to do until it's nice outside and I can sand a lot of stuff down.
Hopefully I can get my friend to come out here and give me a few days work this spring. I'd like to get that 2nd sump well up and operating and install that plug to get my generator to power the house. Both of those jobs would be a hell of a lot easier with two people than with one.

I use the 3 dots at the top of the page that brings up a menu of stuff I've book marked like publishing stuff. That is where the zoom is and that is what I use along with my computer glasses.

Just letting you know that you can use that CTRL and +/- keyboard combo trick on almost every single program out there. A lot of them that you've got running on your computer probably don't have those three horizontal "setup" bars, and the ability to zoom in/out might be buried in menus or not even available otherwise. Any version of Microsoft Office that you got running on that computer likely pre-dates the three horizontal bar standard by quite a few years. So I think you should write down that key combo and remember to try it the next time you open up your book in Word.
One of the things to keep in mind if you want to learn a bit more about navigating and using your computer and becoming more self-reliant and confident with it is that there are often several or more different ways to do nearly anything. And no one way is a wrong way as long as it works and is comfortable for you to use.
Keyboard shortcuts like the CTRL +/- are just kind of the "Final Evolution" of computer literacy and competence. I've been using computers as a large part of my life since the late 90's and I'm only now starting to make really good use of them in the last 2 to 3 years with my project, especially the artwork/creative bits.
There were some things that I was still using that crutch of a babysitter we call a mouse to do that added about 5 extra steps from how you could get the same thing done using a single keyboard shortcut instead. And when there's things that I find myself doing dozens, hundreds or even thousands of times on loop, being able to cut out around 70-90% of the work can mean up to tens-of-thousands of steps I didn't have to take because they weren't necessary anymore.
They still haven't standardized those shortcuts as good as I'm sure they eventually will yet, but I've found that a lot of them work just as good on other programs. Being able to save a picture or a document on the fly by CTRL S, or holding down CTRL+SHIFT and S to "Save As" instead so I can name the file something different is awesome. No more need to drag the mouse up to file then click save. Just hit an extra few keys at the same time my hands were already on the keyboard and I didn't need to move my hand to move the mouse and click on it first. It's pretty amazing how quick I can get mundane things done now and I don't even think about it anymore. Because of how many times I have to use some of these shortcuts with my work, they just become ingrained in my brain and I do them without thinking while in other programs.

I did something I rarely ever do today...
I hung a few paintings up.
My old man came by with them maybe 6 months ago. They'd been hanging in his house for maybe 30 years by now. But every once in a while my step-mom gets it in her head she wants to update a room and whatever was in there gets replaced. I can't remember where they were hung in that house, but my old man said that he always liked them.
They're just two thin and tall paintings of some trees and water and just general tranquility is the vibe. I've had them leaned up against my curio cabinet that I restored years back and I got the idea in my head that they would look really nice on both sides of that cabinet. The cabinet was centered directly underneath the white air return duct by the ceiling, and the on the left side of the cabinet was also the dimmer switch for the chandelier going up to the 2nd floor and the window/door trim that I used to flesh out the entryway to the two staircases there. It turned out that the left painting would fit perfectly between all of that stuff and the left edge of the curio cabinet, and then all I'd have to do is line up everything when hanging the right painting.
Just finished that and I'm really happy with how it turned out. It got me to finally get a bunch of crap like books that I had stacked on that thing over the years, and I want to clean out what I've got inside of it now too. I've got my veteran uncle's flag from his funeral on the top shelf, but it's kind of been buried behind things like Christmas cards and stuff that doesn't need to be up there. It didn't come with a stand, so I think I want to make one or find one that was designed for that job, and I think I'll put that as the only piece on the top of the cabinet.
In any event, I'll stop using that as a catch-all for things I bring in the house now.

I use the 3 dots at the top of the page that brings up a menu of stuff I've book marked like publishing stuff. That is where the zoom is and that is what I use along with my computer glasses.

Just letting you know that you can use that CTRL and +/- keyboard combo trick on almost every single program out there. A lot of them that you've got running on your computer probably don't have those three horizontal "setup" bars, and the ability to zoom in/out might be buried in menus or not even available otherwise. Any version of Microsoft Office that you got running on that computer likely pre-dates the three horizontal bar standard by quite a few years. So I think you should write down that key combo and remember to try it the next time you open up your book in Word.
One of the things to keep in mind if you want to learn a bit more about navigating and using your computer and becoming more self-reliant and confident with it is that there are often several or more different ways to do nearly anything. And no one way is a wrong way as long as it works and is comfortable for you to use.
Keyboard shortcuts like the CTRL +/- are just kind of the "Final Evolution" of computer literacy and competence. I've been using computers as a large part of my life since the late 90's and I'm only now starting to make really good use of them in the last 2 to 3 years with my project, especially the artwork/creative bits.
There were some things that I was still using that crutch of a babysitter we call a mouse to do that added about 5 extra steps from how you could get the same thing done using a single keyboard shortcut instead. And when there's things that I find myself doing dozens, hundreds or even thousands of times on loop, being able to cut out around 70-90% of the work can mean up to tens-of-thousands of steps I didn't have to take because they weren't necessary anymore.
They still haven't standardized those shortcuts as good as I'm sure they eventually will yet, but I've found that a lot of them work just as good on other programs. Being able to save a picture or a document on the fly by CTRL S, or holding down CTRL+SHIFT and S to "Save As" instead so I can name the file something different is awesome. No more need to drag the mouse up to file then click save. Just hit an extra few keys at the same time my hands were already on the keyboard and I didn't need to move my hand to move the mouse and click on it first. It's pretty amazing how quick I can get mundane things done now and I don't even think about it anymore. Because of how many times I have to use some of these shortcuts with my work, they just become ingrained in my brain and I do them without thinking while in other programs.

If you're like me, you're probably never going to be happy with it.
Almost immediately after I did it, I thought of another arrangement that might have looked better. I would keep the one on the left exactly where it is (the one on the right side of the stairwells and above the dimmer switch), and the other one would be put on the other side of the opening to the stairs in the kitchen.
I dunno though... I think it would look good that way, but only from certain perspectives. If you were sitting down almost anywhere in the living room, you wouldn't see the other one in the kitchen unless you were all the way down at the end of the room. And if you're all the way over there, you likely wouldn't see much if any of the first painting since it would be hidden behind the curio cabinet. And having only that one painting in the kitchen would probably look weird since I don't plan on hanging anything else up there.
I dunno. I really like where it's at now, but I need to do some work clearing out that curio cabinet. The top that should look nice has become my home for paperwork and junk mail. I've kind of let the drawer and the cabinet beneath it become my catch-all for tech and wires and stuff, and I can guarantee that most of the stuff in there hasn't gotten any use in 2 or 3 years.
Old me would have said I needed more storage space, but I'll bet that I can throw out quite a bit from that space below the drawer and get most of that stuff hidden so I can have just the nice things to look at up there. The paintings look great, but the cabinet is detracting from them right now.

I hear ya. I think you probably suffer from "planning for the future" or "future proofing" things like I do. You've got to do your best to try not to do that too much or you don't ever get anything done.
I think part of it is that you probably like things the way that they are and don't like messing with them too. I gleaned that from your qualms with how your screen was showing things after you got your computer back up and running. That's how I am too, especially when it comes to my computers and how they're set up. Over the years I've maintained a backup of all the programs I like installed on a new setup, but something still ends up being different enough to bother me for a while until I get used to the new setup after a few weeks.
IRL that can suck though. I'm looking at my living room right now and I'm wondering why I do things in there the way that I do them. Part of it is just laziness and bad habits that I stopped thinking about a long time ago, but another big part of it is that I never set up that place to work for me, even though I spend 90% of my time at home in that area.
I've got some large and easy to manage storage in there between the cabinet and drawer on the bottom half of the curio cabinet, and a really nice corner table I've got for my router, phone and printer, which has a nice drawer underneath it. So what's the problem???
Well I've got those things full of stuff that, though it is important and/or useful stuff that does eventually get used like a few reams of paper, batteries and pens and pencils, they don't need to go right there in the main living area and the first room that people see when they come in the house.
That's why I end up with a mountain of junk mail to sort through and other things ending up on my end table or on the shelves and on top of the curio cabinet. All of that stuff can go in that cabinet under the curio cabinet and be completely out of site until I'm working on it.
I'm going to get that sorted out this week. I might have to take a trip up to Goodwill a bit more often just in case I can luck into a nice piece or two that would work better than some of the weird items that I'm temporarily using in there.
For instance, I've got a really cool piece that my friend gave me a few years back. He got it from his wife's boss when he sold his business. It's just a small 2-drawer wooden piece that looks like an extremely well detailed miniature file cabinet. It's long, but it's pretty narrow and I can't really imagine what it was used for. But the really cool thing about it other than the nice woodwork is that there is a flap-open door in the back of the unit that just pulls down and back and it's big enough to store things that maybe you would want more hidden than they'd be if they were in the front drawers. The story behind the piece is that the old owner hid his gun in there.
I just can't get rid of the thing because of all of that and I plan on doing something with it someday. But right now, I've got it sitting between the curio cabinet and my TV stand. I've got my wireless range extender sitting on top of it along with my 6-Battery charger fo

You can't get at something because something else is in the way.
That's how it is in my garage right now. I had that thing perfectly organized a few years back with a few dozen modular shelving units I built from discarded lumber. I knew where everything was and never had to move anything to get to what I wanted. But if you don't put stuff back where it belongs or clean up after a project AND you're taking in other people's crap, the space fills up and becomes pretty unusable, fast.
That's also how it is in my livingroom. But that's for different reasons like I said yesterday. I just need to remove a bunch of stuff that is useful and worth keeping to a different room where it's out of the way and I can get to it on the rare occasions that I need it. Then I can use that space for things I do in there every day or at least much more frequently, and I can keep the clutter out of sight when I'm not working on it.
The other major thing that comes out of this after you get your space working for you and you keep up with it is that you never lose anything anymore. No more going through the entire house and garage to look for a tool until hours pass and you've checked inside your refrigerator 3 times.

That's funny you mention that. One of the things I have in my curio cabinet is a plastic tote with the most important paperwork that I've got. Things like my birth certificate and my High School diploma. Stuff I've had to use in the past for things like applying for jobs and what not.
But that's just a great example of what I mean here. I've had that curio cabinet there for probably 4 years now. I know I've been in that box at least one time, but right now I can't look back and visualize the 2nd time I was in it in 4 years. I do remember the one time that I did go through it that I took time to go through everything in there and decided some of it could be thrown away. But it's a big plastic tote taking up some prime real estate when it could be put in a closet upstairs where it's not taking up room that would work much better for me if I had it doing something else.
If you absolutely have to bury something, make it important things that you rarely need to get to.

I've been following along. Funny thing is, I've been decluttering bit by bit here, but sort of in all directions ... videotapes here, old paint there, dead electronics elsewhere... so it's hard to see progress. But I know it's there.
Been doing yardwork too, tackling things that should have been done years ago. And I wondered, when and how did I get so far behind???
And so I looked back in my diaries when I was dx'd with cancer and treated, and what I was doing before, during, and after.
Funny thing, before the dx I was struggling mightily with sinus and nasal problems that were keeping me from sleeping well, plus a lot of joint pain and fatigue. Once I tecovered from chemo, surgery, and radiation I was going great guns. All the pain etc was gone. But slowly it came back and I was finally dx'd with a serious autoimmune problem. So I think what happened was that it had been dragging me down for years, the chemo knocked my immune system down for about six months and provided relief, but that kind of wore off and it wasn't until I got on a regular treatment plus injections for joint pain that I finally got functional again.
But now I have to tackle the backlog mountain!
Decluttering for one, remodeling parts of the house, getting our estate in order and so for. It's a lot, but if I keep chipping away sooner or later it'll be whittled down. That's the plan, anyway.
