Oh and by the way JSF. You have no idea how long stories like this can stay buried in a family. A friend in Alberta who is from Ontario. It took him years to confirm anything right up to Nation.

My family has never hide anything. But not every family is like that.

That was the first time I heard her talking about that.

They were called "Indian Boarding Schools" in the US. She might not be familiar with that term. But make no mistake they were Residential Schools and that is the only title I will ever use.

Jewel is Canadian. I don't recall she used either term.

The episode is an hour, but she mentions this in the first 11 minutes, not sure where.

I'm going to have to listen again because I was busy waiting on a workman to come and check the fire alarm. So will do that when I get in.

I got it JSF and it was her grandfather that was in Residential school. She just called it a boys school. And she is Metis. As her great-grandmother was Iroquois and her husband French Canadian.

I was wondering about that spelling. Heard them pronounce something that I wondered if it was spelled Metis. Thanks for the info.
Hope you enjoyed hearing about her history.
You were Metis, too?

Maybe her grandfather went to the same school as your family.

Metis is the correct spelling. The "s" is silent.

I did. You never know who is carrying First Nations or Native American blood.

Yes. That is not possible. My family went through Residential school in the USA. They were born in Montana.

What you are talking about is a choice that the Puerto Rican people can make.

Residential schools in the US and Canada were NOT a choice. These places were forced onto my ancestors and the Indigenous people in Canada.

Why would you think Jack would have a clue about Residential schools, even after you've explained what they are about? He's in the oppressor click. It's all he thinks about.

And it goes without saying he personally doesn't want Puerto Ricans in the country. Let alone become the 51st state. He'd kill himself first. Wow...
