I don't know whether that had greater impact, of the America TV show on the subject, or a combination of the 2. And I don't know which came first.
Clearly, for generations peoples have been reporting about it, it was started more than 100 years ago.
But this news has suddenly happened now. Ground penetrating RADAR is not a new invention. I was wondering what was the sudden catalyst.

Ottawa started a Truth and Reconciliation Commission in 2008 as part of the Indian Residential School Settlement Agreement.
So after the report was delivered in around September of 2012, Ottawa officially began trying to fill its obligations as set out in the report.
Apparently work was being done on the Kamloops Residential School site when the initial discovery was made by the Nation's Language and Culture Department of the Kamloops First Nation. They had funding from a provincial program called Pathway to Healing.
This process has been going on for a decade now and had nothing to do with an American tv show. IF anything the tv show probably picked the idea up from the 2 Cree actors.
JSF understand though First Nations, Inuit and Metis are more visible in Canada, they have still been ignored.
And this applies to the US as well.

The Tk'emlupas te Secwepemc (Kamloops First Nation) said today that what was found on the ground of the school is not a mass grave site. It is documented and undocumented individual burials.

Conservative politicians in Canada are as big of idiots as they are in the US.

Rebel media which mainstream media people normally label as 'biased' but its alt media based in Canada, They show a media photo and I actually find the pix of kids shoes laid next to sites cvery disturbing, the Rebel media say they are unsure if this is a crime scene mass grave site or perhaps an unmarked grave site from conditions that happened to be brutally cruel and linked to the admin / authority over a longer period of time, they mention living conditions, maybe accidents took place or there was a lack of medical supplies, the Rebel media they accuse the Canadian government of playing politics.

But they still should have been returned to family or tribe for burial or ritual.
Bureaucracy always allows humans to be separated from their humanity.
