As an Aussie, this is what I have been seeing on USA media sites. WTF?
Say anything negative about Charlie Kirk – Jail
Don’t say anything good about Charlie Kirk – Jail
Quote Charlie Kirk – Right to Jail
Don’t quote Charlie Kirk – Believe it or not, Jail
His death is being politicised by the GOP Administration. Totally over the top and targeting the 'radical left' as the main source of hatred and violence. Despite the POTUS declaring he HATES all democrats (his opponents) and evidence that Republicans commit more crimes than Democrats.

Trump hails Charlie Kirk as martyr at memorial service
Horst Wessel was a young storm trooper recognized as a skilled public speaker by the Nazi party. He also wrote the song that became the party's anthem, and then the German co-national anthem until 1945.
In 1930, his landlady hired two men who happened to be communists to evict him over unpaid rent and alleged sex trafficking. He died in the fight.
Goebbels, the Nazi chief propagandist, had been looking for someone to turn into a christian martyr for the party and drum up enrollment. He turned Wessel's funeral into a major propaganda event full of speeches antagonizing leftists.
Thinking about him today for no particular reason.
(Real Reason: Trump called Charlie Kirk a martyr.)

"Die Fahne hoch" ('The Flag Raised High'), was the anthem of the Nazi Party from 1930 to 1945.

Per Trump, the entire Left killed Kirk and Trump will avenge the death by killing them. Sieg Heil!

Ex-Trump White House Lawyer Cracks Dark, Deadpan Joke About Comedy Purge
Former White House attorney Ty Cobb drew chilling historical parallels between Donald Trump’s attacks on the press and authoritarian crackdowns on free expression, while delivering a deadpan joke about the future of comedy during his second term.
“It’s evocative of what we’ve seen throughout history,” Cobb told NBC News’ Kristen Welker. “In 1939, Dr. Goebbels, at Hitler’s instruction, removed five comedians, or witticists as they were called at the time, from the airways in Germany and for criticizing or making fun of the government in a satire way.”
Cobb also pointed to Russian President Vladimir Putin, noting that one of Putin’s first moves in the early 2000s was to “systematically silence critical media outlets and independent TV channels” that were soon “bought out or shut down.”
“Trump is waging war on people who offend him,” said Cobb. “He’s all about vengeance. And sadly, his subordinates, like one of the Project 2025 authors, Brendan Carr of the FCC, are following in line.”
The warning came as ABC suspended Jimmy Kimmel and Trump publicly urged NBC to remove late-night hosts Jimmy Fallon and Seth Meyers. All have mocked the president. Cobb called the situation “really tragic” and predicted more comedians would be targeted.
“Pretty soon, the only comedian left standing is going to be Karoline Leavitt,” Cobb deadpanned, referring to the current Trump White House press secretary whose comments sometimes appear to be parody, but aren’t.

Stephen Miller’s Hypocrisy Is Right There in His Speech
In the White House adviser’s view, violent rhetoric is allowed only when he and Trump are the ones spewing it.

Yesterday, Stephen Miller delivered a eulogy for Charlie Kirk that served as a battle cry for the Trump administration’s state-sponsored war on his perceived foes—a war for which Miller is the primary strategist. The speech was a jarring piece of rhetoric. It is a perfect encapsulation of the ethos of Trumpism, boiling away the president’s idiosyncratic habits of mixing insult comedy and weird digressions into his rhetoric and leaving, in Miller’s tongue, the residue of pure ideology and will to power.
Miller’s theme was that President Donald Trump’s side embodies pure good, his opponents pure evil, and the former is destined to utterly destroy the latter. Republicans have never stopped complaining that Hillary Clinton once described a portion of Trump’s base as “a basket of deplorables.” Yet over the weekend the president’s most powerful adviser depicted half the country as worthless, irredeemably wicked, and fated for destruction.
“We are the storm. And our enemies cannot comprehend our strength, our determination, our resolve, our passion,” he thundered. “Our lineage and our legacy hails back to Athens, to Rome, to Philadelphia, to Monticello. Our ancestors built the cities. They produced the art and architecture. They built the industry.”
I feel less confident than Miller does that future historians will laud Trump’s distinct additions of legalized bribery, casino-style decor, and Ultimate Fighting Championship matches on the White House lawn as cultural and philosophical advances. Yet Miller confidently conscripted the pillars of Western civilization into his domestic political war.
Miller’s peroration managed the difficult combination of being redundant and short. In place of uplift, he brought bludgeoning repetition. “The light will defeat the dark. We will prevail over the forces of wickedness and evil,” he said at one point. “We will defeat the forces of darkness and evil. And we will stand every day for what is true, what is beautiful, what is good.” he proclaimed shortly thereafter.
Miller directed much of his speech to the enemy camp. “And to those trying to incite violence against us, those trying to foment hatred against us,” he said, “what do you have? You have nothing. You are nothing. You are wickedness. You are jealousy. You are envy. You are hatred. You are nothing. You can build nothing. You can produce nothing. You can create nothing.” In case any member of the audience had dozed off, which seems unlikely given the volume at which he spoke, Miller reiterated the point a few sentences later: “And what will you leave behind? Nothing. Nothing. To our enemies, you have nothing to give. You have nothing to offer. You have nothing to share but bitterness.”
Having nothing to share but bitterness is a strange insult for Stephen Miller, of all people, to hurl. But part of the Miller worldview is an almost proud insistence on holding his enemies to standards he refuses to abide by. The Trump camp has insisted that the fault for last year’s attempts on Trump’s life lies with anybody who has attacked him as dangerous or authoritarian. Yet Trump himself attacks his enemies in such terms routinely, and Miller seems to be attempting to exceed his boss’s Manichean style by depicting their opponents as the literal embodiment of malevolence.
In some ways, Miller’s speech was the distilled antithesis of Barack Obama’s rhetorical style. Obama gained fame with a stirring 2004 speech arguing that America’s cultural divisions were surmountable—that red America and blue America had more in common that the pundits appreciated. Miller’s view, like that of his boss, is that America is even more divided than we think, and the only resolution to this state of affairs is for one side to

I heard Sinclair won't air it. It looks like it depends where you live if you're going to get it live or not.

Holy shit.

Antifa in Seattle won't be able to watch Kimmel tonight?
I wonder how much shit they'll burn down tomorrow while most people are working.
ETA: Looks like it won't be airing in Portland either. That's kind of funny.

I'd let ya'll know if it aired in Indiana, but I haven't had any tech capable of watching Network TV since they made the switch to HD, and I haven't even seen a commercial in 25 years.

Disney: "Last Wednesday, we made the decision to suspend production on the show to avoid further inflaming a tense situation at an emotional moment for our country. It is a decision we made because we felt some of the comments were ill-timed and thus insensitive. We have spent the last days having thoughtful conversations with Jimmy, and after those conversations, we reached the decision to return the show on Tuesday."
