You're smart enough to recognize one of the biggest problems in the industry though... Years after we've been saying it, but way before the people on the other side of the camera have figured it out.
You've got clout and you're an actor. Why don't you just wear a $10k suit one day and walk into one of those board meetings like you own the place and lay it all down for them?

I'll never understand why Disney is so focused on live-action remakes when they literally own the rights to the Muppets. I would take a Muppet remake of a Disney Animation classic over a live-action remake all day every day.
Muppet Beauty and the Beast where the Beast is played by the only human actor and he turns into a Muppet at the end.
The Beast should be a conventionally attractive actor whom the Muppet townspeople continually call hideous until true love releases him from this curse and he shows true beauty - blue felt and plastic eyes.

'France' earning used to be important for overseas money but maybe not anymore, Japan was always slow but overseas box office has also returned, there is China market, Australia market, Brazil, S. Korea, Argentina, Italy, Spain many other places to make money overseas.
I think the French used to be about a 2 Billion market, years back France easily was 3rd or 4th in the world. Then China, South Korea, Germany, Japan started to beat France, even Australia and Mexico numbers compare to France...Russia of course is 'out' under sanctions.

That's a loaded question. Hollywood isn't just a singularity.
2023 was not good, especially when comparing the production budgets to the worldwide gross overall, but it was better than 2024 by comparison.
That being said, Disney alone lost somewhere in the area of $2 Billion in 2023. I believe the "official" count the last time I updated that list was just over $1.8 Billion, but it's since come out that The Marvels, Indy 5 and The Little Mermaid all had higher production budgets than were initially stated and Bruce has those new figures up on the-numbers. It's quite possible they actually lost over $2 Billion with those updated budget figures.
And I believe that Universal conversely made somewhere around $2 Billion profit in 2023. WB despite all of its comic book flops had Barbie and Wonka and a few others and still managed a respectable 2023 take. Not everyone was a loser in 2023 for sure.
*I really should take some time and get around to completing that 2023 list now that we're in August of 2024.
Disney's only released 2 movies this year (if you're not including 20th century fox or searchlight), and they're probably going to make $2 Billion in profit on those two movies alone. Universal, on the other hand, has had quite a bit of bad news this year so far. Although Despicable Me 4 will cover a lot of their losses. I really don't know where they stand at all at the moment.
As for 2024, I really have no idea what those standings would be. AFAIK, nobody else presents the data in the way that I did last year, so I would have to spend at least an entire day gathering all of that data and making this years list up to date in my spreadsheets, and then another day or two converting those spreadsheets into charts for people to see here. (That is really a HUGE pain because of how dated this site is).

It all depends on the movie, I guess. Some movies aren't doing squat overseas this year while other movies are doing gangbusters.
I've seen you mention the "France Factor" twice this week. Do you have any proof of that? I'm not saying that you're wrong, but with all the work I've done gathering data on movies over the last year and a half it's something that never jumped out at me before. But I never was doing any country by country breakdowns, so there would really have been no reason for me to know this.

I hear that poor kid was in the Acolyte too.
The only thing I've seen of her was the Borderlands trailer.
If she's actually a good actress, she's going to have a hard time crawling out from those two holes in the future.
I just got the bad news that Eternals isn't getting a sequel and they will not return. That's 10 needlessly "diverse" roles that won't need a refill.

The Aliens movies should do well.
Though I have just about zero interest in watching it, I think at a budget of only $80 Million it's going to leave people wondering where all these other movies spending $100 to $250 Million or more are putting that money.
I think it easily gets back 100% of the budget this weekend, probably making closer to 150%.
