THUGR, I've already listened to enough of Zeihan to figure out that he mostly talks nonsense, and that he's just selling books and collecting fees.
What makes you think that he's changed?
But since the video was short I listened anyway.
Here are a couple of points where I think he goes wildly off target:
Everything he says about China applies to Japan, in spades.
If China is facing demographic collapse in 30 years, Japan is already there.
If China has a problem being potentially isolated from resources and markets, Japan has that problem in spades. As does, FWIW, Taiwan.
China is a large nation with many resources. It is the worlds largest producer of rice (India BTW is a close second) https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_rice_production and the world's largest producer of wheat (India is a more distant second). https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_wheat_production China does critically depend on oil thru the Straits of Mallaca
but they are working hard to establish land links that avoid maritime blockade. So China has potential land links to resources and markets.
Japan has NO resources to speak of, and no potential land links. Only 37% of calories come from Japan itself.

I've posted about this before but will do it again. One difference between Japan and China, is that Japan has us, and Japan can feed themselves. China has to import most of their food and fuel.
And remember when I posted this " if the decline in total population is not matched by an equal or greater increase in productivity (GDP/capita), and that condition continues from one calendar quarter to the next, that country would experience a decline in GDP. This is known as an economic recession."
Well, Japan will increase production through technology to offset their labor shortage. They have the skills and technology to do that. That is not going to happen in China. Unless of course they can steal it.
So, when you say Japan must suffer the same fate as China due to a shortage of workers, you couldn't be more wrong comrade.

China takes food security seriously. They are 100% self sufficient in grains (rice and wheat) and grow a lot of their own food.
It may not have much oil, but China has lots of coal.

Today, it imports more of these products—including soybeans, corn, wheat, rice, and dairy products—than any other country.
