To put it mildly, the difference between the Norbreck Castle and the Thistle is enormous! The Thistle is a relatively small hotel of two storeys and the main hall holds 900 max. The Norbreck is a massive aircraft hangar, and the main hall holds 3,500. That enough of a comparison???

Hi firefloozysuzie,
Don't worry, UK trains aren't all bad (although I would keep an eye on websites like www.virgintrains.co.uk in the run-up to your trip - any engineering work that isn't last minute should be announced there).
And Edinburgh to King's Cross certainly won't take eight hours; five or six at the most, I'd say, even with a change of trains en route. There used to be a direct service between those stations, but the routes have changed of late, I think.

Thanx for reassurances about the rail lines, Nic.
Our girl in Edinburgh happened to call tonight and she says she could pick me up at the airport or the train, doesn't matter. So I'll shop schedule and price. It *would* be nice to arrive early on Apr. 29th by going by air to Heathrow than out on a bus. I do want a chance to meet you folks before the big shiny sign-in.
I'm trying NOT to wish April would be here already. No sense in wanting myself to get older at a faster rate, is there? Must live in the present, watch Buffy episodes (just seeing them on DVD) and plan costumes for the fancy dress. April will be here...

Very excited about this, and its still months away. Really do hope Adam can now come, but if not he will be filming with Tim Minear on his cool new show that sounds cracking to me. Looking forward to it, but would really like to see the Hero of Canton in the flesh.

"At STARFURY: SERENITY, there will be a Fan Art Competition, allowing
attendees to showcase artwork related to the series.
Any art entered into this competition must be relevant in at least
one of three areas:-
1. The artwork is based around FIREFLY / SERENITY
2. The artwork is based around one of the guests attending the
convention
3. The artwork is Sci-Fi based
There will be three categories:-
1. Best Traditional Artwork. Entries in this category must be 2D art
that is done using traditional methods, such as pencil, pen & ink,
crayon, pastels, oils, water colours etc.
2. Best 3D Artwork. This would be a sculpture, diorama, model etc.
that is three dimensional in form.
3. Best CGI Artwork. This would be an image created using a computer.
It could be a photograph or image that has been manipulated, or an
image created and generated using computer. Images in this category
must be printed up. We won't have a computer there to display them.
Any artwork entered into the competition must be finished, and will
be displayed as given to us (e.g. we won't be putting them in frames;
you'd need to do that if you want it to be displayed that way).
We reserve the right to refuse to display any artwork that we deem to
be offensive or liable to case offence.
You must be happy for the artwork to be displayed publicly. We cannot
guarantee that all art will be displayed at all times; if the number
of entries is greater than the space available then we will rotate
the artwork on display throughout the day.
The convention will return all artwork at the end of the event, but
cannot take responsibility if it is damaged or lost while on display.
The guests will act as the judges. Their decision will be final and
prizes will be allocated accordingly.
Sean Harry"
Hope that helps.
Andy
A quick question on the artwork competetion - is there any info on submitting items & rules - or is it all done on the day?
I hope to have at least 2x pieces of Artwork Printed out & mounted on card or something like that for the competetion.
I wonder if we could pin somebody from the ceiling as a live exhibit? Mr A Baldwin perhaps
doing his best in the `Train Job` or even `Safe` - I hope that doesn`t give people ideas
Darin (Zol.)
p.s. of course if Adam was swinging from the ceiling (in a nice way) then of course there would be room for another guest surely?
